Aromatica is fantastic! Lily was sweet, extremely knowledgeable, and helped me find the perfect fragrance set just for me.

Great place with attentive staff and traditional practices. They let you try as many scents as you like and have good prices.

My friend and I had an amazingly special time here creating our own perfumes in this lovely shop…read morewhere they are curating your own scents! They take down information on your preferred scents - things you like, don't like (ie floral, tropical, woodsy, spicy etc) and will come up with "mystery" ingredients for you to smell. What's amazing is when you discover things that you didn't think you liked blending so well with new ingredients (a surprise for me was pink peppercorn and blueberry!). Interestingly you learn whether your skin is absorptive basal or acidic as certain ingredients will smell differently on your skin once applied. They suggest you also dab versus rub into your skin and also go outside to see if the scent changes in the air a few minutes in. I found that my skin was absorptive which actually impacted the amounts of ingredients that they put in my unique scent. Also they will keep your formula on file so if you want to reorder or even get a lotion or a candle, you can contact them directly. This was a blast of an afternoon and I loved it! Would definitely do this again!

Kleanspa is also here and my guy and I both got custom scents made, which we were both so proud of. Karen, who made our scents, is incredibly knowledgeable on mixing fragrances, she was great! We were blown away at how kind and amazing Jennifer and Karen were. They became our friends before we left. If you are looking for a place to shop for gifts, this is the place. It's an absolute gem!!

Here is my Sephora haul purchased here on Feb 21, 2026, at the BURBANK EMPIRE CENTER: Nars: afterglow liquid blush (not primed enough, may return it), and the Laguna powder bronzer Makeup Forever: Lip liners in shades of wherever walnut, daring candy, dramatic plum, sassy Rhubarb. Also, i purchased the Too Faced mascara (better than sex mascara), 2 travel-sized perfumes: The 7 Virtues Buttercream Haze, and the Klian Paris Love, Don't be shy. It's pretty calm during the day but it can get packed, especially if there's a sale. The shelves tend to be to be well stocked, clean, and organized earlier in the day, but things can look a little frazzled the later in the evening you go. If there's anything that could add to the experience here, it would be expand their fragrance collection and add new brands to the shelves.

This is a store where customers become friends with the employees and walk by to say hi. D.S. & Durga is fragrance brand out of Brooklyn, with lots of fragrances (or as they refer to them,…read more"fumes" -- *oof*) that smell half-finished at prices easily at least double what anyone should realistically pay. I'd wager real money that they come up with their names and elaborate concepts first. ("Burning Barbershop," "Mississippi Medicine," and "Steamed Rainbow" are some of the most eye roll-worthy.) Nothing made me want to reach for my wallet, not when a small 50 mL bottle starts at $210 (more for collaborations and limited editions), and full-size 100 mL begin at $300. The candles -- "'85 Diesel," "Tomb of the Eagles," and "Rama Won't You Please Come Home" are some of the befuddling names here -- smell first and foremost of wax; determining how they will smell in one's home is a crapshoot. D.S. & Durga is owned by the stealth beauty conglomerate Manzanita Capital, which also owns Malin+Goetz and Diptyque, two brands that know how to make good candles, so I'm flummoxed as to why D.S. & Durga's $75 candles smell so flat and pallid on the shelf. The staff was friendly and helpful without being obtrusive, just what this sort of store's staff should be. Manzanita brands consistently have great sales associates, and D.S. & Durga is no exception. Like the fairly similar Byredo several blocks west, the primary product at D.S. & Durga seems to be more hip-cool-youth-vibe-quirky-funky-whatever than anything in the actual bottle or jar. And hey, a lot of boutiques in Silver Lake and Echo Park do a brisk business in selling hip-cool-youth-vibe-quirky-funky-whatever. I'm just not really in the market for hip-cool-youth-vibe-quirky-funky-whatever these days -- and certainly not starting at $210 for the small size.

If it…read moreweren't for the birthday gift, I would've just ordered online since I'm a busy person and barely have time to shop in-store. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted because I've been using the same two eyeliners for years. I walked through the store twice trying to find it but couldn't. Eventually, an employee asked if I needed help and pointed me to the display, only to tell me that what was out was all they had left. Unfortunately, the eyeliner I normally use was out of stock, so I ended up buying a different one. The worst part of my visit was checking out. The cashier, Jennifer, was unfriendly from the start. When I asked to redeem my birthday gift, she told me I wasn't a Beauty Insider and then said my birthday wasn't listed on my account. After that was sorted out, she showed me the available birthday gifts. My husband asked which birthday gift she would recommend, and her response was simply, "I don't know, depends on you." As I was trying to read what each gift included, I could tell she was getting impatient. She sighed multiple times and tapped her nails on the counter while I was deciding. At other Sephora locations, employees have always been happy to briefly explain the options, so this felt like a very different experience. I also paid with gift cards, and every time one didn't immediately scan or swipe, she would mutter things like "ugh" or "oh my God." It really gave the impression that she didn't want to be there, and unfortunately that attitude made the entire checkout experience uncomfortable. Between the poor customer service and the lack of inventory, this wasn't a great experience. I'll stick to ordering online or shopping at a different Sephora in the future.
