Made an appointment with Rebecca, figuring she's had her business at the same location for over 20 years, so she must be pretty good. If you don't know sciatica is caused by a pinched nerve, with pain radiating from your back down your leg, and it's as painful as it sounds. Being where the pain is, I was afraid I'd sound like a creeper so was hesitant to go see a massage therapist. Rebecca was very professional, and worked hard on my whole back. It was one of the best massages I've ever had in my life. The next day I was in way less pain than I had been in weeks. I read all of the positive reviews before scheduling an appointment online with him.... that's why I'm scratching my head right now. The reasons for my 2 stars: -1 star because his cell phone kept buzzing alerts in my ear while he worked on me... that's not relaxing to listen to. I think he even answered a text with one hand while rubbing my neck with the other during one point. -1 star because he wore a long sleeved shirt and didn't roll up the sleeves while he worked on me with his elbows and forearms. The material felt itchy and scratchy and unpleasant. I'm not sure he used massage oil on me, I think he just rubbed me down with bio freeze. Uncovered forearms and massage oil would have felt better than a scratchy shirt. -1 star because I am not a religious person would rather not hear bible/new testament stories and quotes while getting massaged. The massage was expensive, $50 for 30 mins of neck release. He has good hands and my neck does feel better, that is the reason for the 2 stars. For that price it would have been nice for him to turn off his phone and roll up his sleeves for 30 minutes. I will try Shiatsu Pro again, but will not use Avi due to the reasons above. I get regular massages 1-2x a month...even though today's first session was only 30 minutes, it could have led to many more. If I scheduled a longer 90 or 120 minute session, I would have spoken up during the massage. But since it was such a short session, I just wanted to get out of there.
