I'm disappointed with my move experience. Scheduling Making an appointment was easy. I was able to call a number, give the details of my move and was provided with a quote. They had great communication. I was called the day prior to my move to confirm. What I didn't like about scheduling is that I was unable to choose a start time. Instead of being able to have the movers come at a time of my choosing, I was given a 2 hour window of when the movers would arrive. Service I was told I'd receive a call 30 minutes prior to the movers arriving. When I spoke to the gentleman that morning, he said the team was 30 minutes away. That was false, I ended up waiting over an hour for them to arrive. Upon arrival, I was in the stair well and overhead complaints of where my unit was located. When I scheduled my appointment, I disclosed what level I would be on and I guess that was not relayed to the team. I gave very clear instructions on what they didn't need to worry about moving and that the rest was for them. While we were close to finishing up, they left several items in my unit that I had to take care of transporting myself. On top of that, they left the 1st location entirely without even communicating with me. During the 2nd part of the move, the team kept taking the long way, which I know tacked on time to the hourly service. Also, I had clearly labeled which boxes were fragile and contained glass, yet they were stacking 3-4 boxes on top of boxes filled with glass. There were items damaged during the move that they did not let me know about. I had to find the damage on my own. When I initially called to schedule my appointment, I was told the movers would have all tools with them that they would need. The team that serviced me that day barely had the proper tools to put my bed frame together, and was going to leave it wobbly. Thankfully, I had my own tools to use but that was not what I was told. I'm giving one star for the clear communication in the beginning, another star for actually performing the service but this is not a company I'd recommend to anyone else. read more

This review is regarding Around The Town Moving & Storage in Marietta GA. On July 3, 2020 this company moved my home. When I spoke with the company before booking them I was told that they would wrap the furniture. They did not wrap most of the furniture, only about pieces. I have a really nice dresser that I paid over $700 for and now the leg is broken and and there is scratches all over the dresser from the mover dropping it when he fell. On July 8, 2020 I spoke with Sam and he asked me to email pictures of the damage. He advised me the technician will come out. The tech never showed. After a couple calls I am rescheduled. They still do not come. In-fact there has been atleast 3 times that the tech has a appointment with me an doesn't show. No one contacts me to let me know anything is cancelled or to reschedule. I have to keep contacting them. Then when I call they tell me they will tcontact me and never call or email. So now 4 weeks go by the technician final comes, tells me the dresser leg can not be fixed because the piece is all the way broken off but he will put it on and as long as I don't move it too much it will be fine. He tells me he will have to come back to fill in the scratches with a wood marker (which only fixes the color). Now this is a $700+ dresser which now has war wounds all over from being dropped by the movers, and now has a leg barely hanging on. Before the movers moved anything I signed a insurance paper that they will compensate up to $200 for damages. The movers told me they were professionals so I didn't need more insurance because nothing would be damaged, and I trusted them. Glad I didn't get more because they don't want to pay you for their mistakes anyway. I feel like the least they can do is give me the $200 for messing up my $700+ dresser. So they were suppose to come again (8/13/2020) and of course, no call no show. It is really ridiculous. Almost a month and a half after my move. I tried to hold off on writing this, however getting a response back on issues relating to my recent move has been nonexistent. I was recommended this company by my promove agent, I called around a few different companies to gauge customer service and even checked online reviews for each. I settled with this company due to my original phone call with Tiana Cole, which was reassuring and pleasant. However, my move date approached and things seemed to not go exactly as planned. Keep in mind, I've moved 3 times over the last 5 years even moving from out of state, I am familiar with packing and the logistics around a town/state move. I organized my items to be closer to the front of my unit to make it easier on the movers, I disassembled both beds as well prior to the movers arriving and did my best to stay out of their way to move things along faster. It took over 2 hours to clear what was a 2 bedroom minimal set up, a break was taken apparently as I was heading to the next unit. I was able to get money orders, my keys, look over the unit, meet an electrician on site, and start unpacking what I loaded into my car all before the truck arrived. I noticed as items were being brought into my unit that not all of my furniture was wrapped, although I provided 2 of my own moving blankets. Boxes weren't being set in the proper labeled spaces, and I even offered to help with smaller items from the truck as this was taking wayyy longer than it should have. All in all, what should have been a 2.5 hour move, 6 miles away, turned into over 4 hours (including their lunch break) which did not include anything being re-assembled. As items were being unwrapped and set out, I noticed issues with a few pieces of furniture (broken/missing/scratched up). I was then told to contact a number of someone who handles these issues, its been the run around ever since and today marks one week since the move. Moving is stressful enough, I can't recommend. 3 stars for getting my items from one location to the next and the guys assigned were cool overall but thats not enough to run a solid business. read more

If you use them for storage, you won't get all of your items back, OR you will get half of a set back. Or they will bring you somebody else's stuff in an attempt to make it look like they care. The list is long and includes missing bedframe, garden hose, lamp x 2, office chair, shadow box made by my father, a large drawer that goes to a play table (potterybarn..one drawer made it back, the other one is missing). They managed to locate the bedframe, garden hose and one lamp, but they are now saying that I am lying to them: "Thank you for bringing these additional issues to our attention. I truly apologize for the less than favorable experience on your recent move. It is becoming more and more apparent that the missing items 1) never made it to our facility or 2) there is still more unpacking that needs to be done to locate those items." That is from the office manager, Natasha, essentially blaming me for them losing my items. I was told that when the two trucks were unloaded, one of the men had to leave suddenly and the items got mixed up and placed in different areas. But now it's my fault that they still have my items. They hooked up my washer incorrectly and didn't put the drain hose in the drain and water flooded my new house. They hooked the hot and cold up backwards, even though there are big letters saying HOT AND COLD. They smashed a mirror inside a hutch ( I will say they did offer to replace the mirror, but they would have to come and take the piece out of my house again and they aren't touching any more of my items). They seem very friendly as they tell you that you are completely wrong. You will notice any negative review on here is followed by a response that essentially blames the customer. read more

Extremely unprofessional and ghetto business. They took 7 hours to move a studio or small bedroom worth of stuff. The movers moved slow and damaged many valuable things like a big new flatscreen TVs, memorabilia, rare dishes and ate food. They sat around and claimed they were tired and were taking their time to add onto the bill. The tv is completely ruined. When talking to them on the phone, they have no remorse about it and insist on receiving a payment of $300 to pay for time overages that SHOULDN'T have happened because the movers purposely took their time and did a lousy ratchet job. The lady Kimmi Johnson did not care and only responded with "there's a balance" due and does not acknowledge their ratchet movers and was being argumentative with an elderly woman on the phone. A real business would have tried to rectify this by immediately sending a check or other form of payment to replace a brand new $700 tv and many dishes and other scratches on furniture and doorways of a new building and new apartment. As a black business serving black people, this was unexpected and so unprofessional and makes us want to steer clear of this ghetto establishment and the like. Based on the many many many bad reviews of people experiencing the same things as us, apparently they don't need to be in business and they get away with stealing, damaging tv and other expensive things. Also I noticed they have posted many FAKE POSITIVE REVIEWS to mask that bad ones that they deserve. Very tacky and ghetto and I hope this business closes soon. I have never in my life dealt with something this low and unqualified. They shouldn't be handling ANYONE's belonging at all and need to close immediately and learn how to truly run a business and handle customer service and BE ACCOUNTABLE for damaging and STOP STEALING AND ARGUING WITH CUSTOMERS. Ghetto asses that make black businesses look bad. A more professional and reputable business would never ever damage peoples items or handle customers this way. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. RATCHET OPERATIONS. MULTIPLE DAMAGES (see pictures). UNRESPONSIVE. I would also encourage you to read other reviews to see there are multiple people with similar complaints. This is the worst move I have ever experienced, and although I understand that "things happen ", what I cannot understand is how it has taken me months to get some kind of resolution for items damaged during my move. Their management is either unresponsive or shockingly defensive. MOVING DAY: I paid for 3 movers, but basically only got 2 until they sent a replacement a couple hours later. A couple of the men were quite reckless with my items, hence the multiple damages. At one point, I actually had to ask one of them to leave because he kept smoking, cursing/being aggressive, and sitting around on the phone (see pictures). DAMAGES: These people put a hole in my wall, multiple dents/scratches on my hardwoods, tire tracks in my grass, almost took down a power line, and BROKE MY 75 inch TV (SEE PICTURES). After multiple calls, they finally came and repaired my floor and walls (almost a month later). My TV to this day (Nov 1) still remains broken AND mounted with no indication of what they plan to do about it - I moved August 23 lol . I tried to hold back on blasting this black-owned business online, but the way they seem to take ZERO responsibility for their ratchet operations is mind-boggling. So here I am. I would strongly recommend another company that has more trained movers (their movers seem like they dragged them off the corner and just gave them a tshirt), professional office staff who knows how to speak to customers, and accountable leadership/owners. Around the Town is the absolute best! We had to move out of our house and into a rental house for 6 months while building a new house. I spent 3 days with these guys, thanks to the rain. They packed my house on the first day and moved all of our things over the next two days. They were professional, polite and they cared about all of my belongings (I have WAY TOO MUCH). I have recommend them to many friends who have all been pleased. They are trust worthy and great at what they do. Overcharged Moving Fiasco! Using Around the Town Moving was a terrible, costly experience. After reading reviews from others, we are not the first to regret using them. They did not label our boxes with our names or what room they went to. When some of our boxes went missing, they had no way to find them. This included valuable items like artwork that had been in our family for years. Many other items were damaged or destroyed. Instead of trying to make things right, they have been VERY unresponsive. On top of all this, they overcharged us for 3 days worth of work, when they originally contracted us for two days. Be warned! Make them perform according to the contract before you give them your credit card. Around The Town Moving & Storage made an already stressful move so much worse. I hate moving more than I hate most things in this world. It's inconvenient, time consuming, and draining mentally, physically, and psychologically. I'm glad I found this company since they made the entire experience much easier than I planned or expected. I discovered and used around the town movers after seeing their truck driving on i85 and decided to give them a call. I called a few other moving companies after doing a Google search and basically went with my gut on this one and went with ATTPM. Mainly b/c the operator I spoke with was so courteous and their pricing seemed fair. They were a little behind schedule, but at the end of the day, what really made me admire this company was their commitment to customer satisfaction. After realizing my new landlord was kind of clueless when it came to move-ins, the move took a few hours over our allotted budgeted time. I called in to the operator explained the situation and presto, problem resolved. It's that type of customer service which is not so rule by the iron hand type of mentality that usually warrants extra uber stars from me. Overall, 4.2 stars for price, 4.3 stars for kindness, and 5 stars for service. Rounded down it's a 4. I have moved a lot in my life. I hate moving. It's expensive, it's a hassle, and it just bites. I found these folks here on Yelp. I called expecting a hassle, and surprisingly someone actually answered the phone, which was a great start- no answering machine. The lady, Cricket, was so nice and helpful. I thought surely this must be some new, rinky dink outfit trying to get customers. She gave me her rate, and said no deposit was required. I nearly passed out. Everyone was jerking me around for deposits of varying amounts and sorts for everything. A deposit for trash pick up? Really? Anyway, I booked the appointment. I got nervous midweek, so I called to confirm. Again, a person answered!! WOW! I confirmed. Sure enough, about 20 minutes before my scheduled window, a gentleman called and said he was enroute. At about 5 minutes beforehand they were ringing the bell. We met 3 of the nicest, most professional movers I think I've ever worked with. Sam, Jason, and Larry were fast, efficient, courteous, funny, and helpful! To start w/ the positives they were easy to reach, on time, the crew was very nice and the rates were good. However the low rates did not matter w/ the amount of time it took them to move us. The guy I spoke with on the phone estimated 3 hours max for my move. It was a two bedroom FIRST FLOOR apartment ( no furniture only boxes in the 2nd bedroom ) and no appliances. Basically two sofas, a bedroom set, a dining set and several boxes/storage bins. I moved my TV's myself. Our new place is a little over a mile away. It's a townhome and we got just about all new furniture delivered so the only things they had to take upstairs were the bedroom set and some boxes. This move took 3 men 5 HOURS! The last time I used movers I used another company that took 2 guys 4 hours from a the 3rd floor unit to a second floor unit and they were further apart. I thought I would do better w/ these guys since the hourly rate was lower and there would be a 3rd guy but not so much... I would love to say that since they took their time at least there was no damage but I can't. We realized later that one of the dining chairs got damaged and the dresser drawers in our bedroom constantly get jammed and come off track since the move. Never had the issue prior. While that may not seem like a lot of damage considering the small amount of furniture that was moved its enough. read more

BEWARE of these total losers. I have hired 2 other moving companies (which were both at a cheaper rate) in the past and decided to try Around the Town Movers. I figured that since they charged more, I would get more. And their management was all about 'customer service' up front. Boy was I wrong. First the PROS: *They showed up on time, they were friendly. The CONS: *They were unreasonably SLOW. These clowns would make a one-legged 90-year-old look fast. There is just no excuse for how long the move took, especially considering that these are so-called 'professionals.' Because of the snails--pace speed at which they worked, I went way overbudget on my move and the managers made no concessions to fix the problem. *2 items were scuffed up/damaged, I didn't bother to mention this to management since I was ready to be done with this company. *They struggled to put our furniture back together. Seriously, if you just broke it down a matter of hours ago, how could you not know how to reconstruct it? Or maybe it was just another way to milk the timeclock... Overall, just a pathetic experience and management that did not seem concerned about anything other than their payday. I had an out of town move that was different than I expected due to COVID. My realtor referred Timothy from Around the Town Moving & Storage. I called on a Friday and Timothy coordinated with my realtor to go see what needed to be moved almost immediately. He contacted me promptly to tell me he could move my things to DC on that coming Monday since he had a move to New York that same day. The price of the move was more than I expected based on the price of my previous move from Atlanta, but I appreciated them doing it on such short notice so I figured maybe that was the premium. Andreas and Jason were my movers. They were very personable and professional. You could tell they were professional movers and not just some people that you pick up off the street and put a shirt on. Moving is always stressful, but they made it easier even in the midst of a pandemic. The only issue I had was a miscommunication between the movers and their boss about setting up a trundle bed. They were good sports about my 4 level home and the stairs and we had good laughs about the workout for your legs. Overall, I would definitely recommend them and especially to anyone doing an interstate move and/or one where you can't be available for the packing/loading. read more

These guys are amazing! I had my things in storage with a shady moving company who wouldn't give me a time to get them out. I called James Hodge and his team went over, dealt with the unprofessional folks and picked up my things. They were friendly, professional and kept me calm during a very stressful experience trying to get my things back. They treated my things like they would their own and delivered them in perfect condition. The main office called during the move to be sure things were going smoothly and then followed up after the move to see if anything else was needed. I have used Around The Town Moving and Storage for two major moves this year. The first move was moving out of our family home of 50 years. Much had to go into storage, and as Around The Town has storage, I stored my things with them for 10 months. They moved me out of the family home into a second story apartment. The move was seamless. The second move was more complicated, from Atlanta to the Jackson, Mississippi area. They were prompt, courteous, kind, took great care with my furniture, appliances and boxes. I could not have asked for a better experience than I have had with this company. I highly recommend them, they will give you a very good move, with no hassles and a safe landing in your new place. I hired this company to move my belongings in July 2021. The crew was late to start with making excuses that the truck broke down. When they finally showed up some of the movers looked liked they were high and smelled bad. They moved my tan color sectional without wrapping it. One of the movers tried to move the largest piece of the sectional by himself and ended up dragging the sofa on the ground and scuffing it up. It was raining and the project manager sat on the sofa with his wet clothes leaving a water stain. When confronted them about my dissatisfaction the project manager got very loud and unprofessional. I called the company's corporate office and spoke with a woman by the name of Ms Johnson. She scheduled an appointment to come out to inspect the damages but called less than an hour before the appointment time to say they had a hectic day in the office and she needed to reschedule. I was okay with that but again she was a no show. I called several times requesting to speak with someone else regarding the matter. I was hung up on by a very rude man that answers the phone. I later received an email from the company offering me $50.00. I felt so insulted I did not even acknowledged receipt of the email. As a senior consumer I was treated horribly by this company. I paid $3000.00 including the move of a shed. I would not recommend this company even if they offer their services for free. read more

Do not use this company!! Especially if you have items that you cannot replace or do not want damaged, which for most people, would be everything you own! They damaged a chair and the manager Natasha, offered to pay me for 50%. Mind you, I PAID a damage deposit for up to $300. It was not honored, and Natasha hung up on me when I tried to challenge her offer. Rude, unprofessional, and dishonest people. Run as far away as possible from this company. The move experience was horrendous and the claims process even more so. The only positive experience was the salesperson and I actually regret that he was good enough that I acquired their services! The movers showed up smelling of marijuana - I couldn't tell which one/s but a friend said he thought it was only one of the four men. After their "lunch" break, my friend found several empty drink bottles in my driveway. I told him it was ok I would pick them up and throw them away. The driveway had been blown off so that leaves would not be tracked into the house by the move so, the empty ice bag and Stella bottle cap were not pre-existing items. Furthermore, I don't drink beer and since I live alone - it was not my bottle cap. Obviously, the bottle cap belonged to one of the movers. Unfortunately, they broke several items the most important being my washing machine. Of course, the team leader denied breaking it. I deduced (correctly) by his aggressive behavior and the fact that he was yelling that the company penalizes the movers for breakage. He did not want to file paperwork for the breakage. I insisted, he continued to yell for quite some time. There were three other people in my party who were frightened and appalled by his behavior. He had the gall to tell me it was their word against my word! He told me they would call me on Monday about the claim. They did not call on Monday. When I called about the claim and mentioned that I was told they would call me on Monday, she said they never call about claims. I found that they had also broken my radiant oil heater (they had dropped it down the stairs). I wanted to file the claim as I wanted to get the washing machine repaired as the door would not close and I needed the ability to wash clothes. I was asked to send pictures in an email. I did. A week passed and I had not heard anything so I picked up the phone and called Ms. Johnson again. She told me that she had not received anything from me. I said well let me confirm your email address because I have the message with pictures in my Sent emails. She then backtracked and said oh well you sent jpg files and I cannot open jpgs. Ms. Johnson said she needed pdfs or Google drive. She did not inform me of the file type when she requested I send the pictures NOR did she contact me after she received the email with the jpgs. I, once again, had to reach out to her. I immediately resent the email with pdfs. I called a week later to inquire about the status of the claim and she said they had 90 days to settle it. I was concerned since I could not wash clothes at home. Unless you paid, in my case, either $297.50 or $910.00 in additional fees for insurance the reimbursement for breakage is $0.60 per pound. In her first settlement offer she underestimated the weight of the washing machine by 70 pounds and omitted the radiant oil heater altogether. I found documentation of the weights and sent them via email to Ms. Johnson. After an unreturned phone call and another where she told the person answering the call to give me a message and some haggling in emails we arrived at a settlement value for the 2 items which I accepted via an email. However, prior to me signing and returning the settlement letter, I found that a floor lamp was also broken. I sent Ms. Johnson another email containing pdf pictures and documentation of the 24.4 pound weight (insurance reimbursement value would be $14.64) for a $200 lamp. Ms. Johnson sent me an email saying that was not how the claims process worked - if it was not filed with the original claim, it could not be added. I had told Ms. Johnson when I submitted the original information that I would be taking a number of weeks to unpack and I could find additional items but felt it necessary to go ahead and submit for the washing machine since I was unable to wash my clothing. I find it interesting that Ms. Johnson never picked up the phone to call me and that they have 90 days to settle a claim but you cannot file for other items you find broken within the same 90 day period. So, all I can say, is DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I know this is a long read but I feel details like this will inform you as to why I say RUN as far away as possible from this company. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. Terrible communication from start to finish and a WEEK AFTER MY MOVE, they charged me an additional amount, to which I had to call MULTIPLE times and hear the, "we didn't charge you", "it wasn't us", "you have to wait until it clears"...only to find out that the OWNER called the merchant and said that I owed them additional funds (which was COMPLETELY BOGUS)...and now I have to wait 3-5 days for a refund. And no one called to tell me there was a resolution. I had to call back AGAIN. I was also confirmed for an 8-9 move time by both Lashay (which, bless her, is the nicest person there) and Antone and my movers pull in at 1015. Pay the $10 more per hour and use Two Men & a Truck. It's not worth saving the money to use these guys. read more

Called them at the last minute because the other so-called professionals flaked out after re-scheduling twice. Cricket, got two guys over in a matter of a couple of hours. The guys were very fast and extremely careful. I would recommend these guys once again. read more

I hired Around the Town movers on December 31st. They showed up on time and moved everything from one 2br2ba to another about 5 miles away in about 4 hours with a 3 man crew. I wasn't expecting it to take that long but they did move pretty fast and I felt satisfied with their work. I only had one issue which was that they broke our washing machine during the move. We filed a claim for the damages and we received a fair amount for the reimbursement. If I could do it again, I would have probably paid for the additional insurance coverages because accidents do happen sometimes (we just hope they don't). Ultimately I was pleased with the way this issue was handled. I received great customer service from everyone i spoke to. I would likely contact them again for my next move. read more

I used this company for moving our furniture and heavy boxes to a storage unit. The 4 movers that arrived that morning were the best! They called me to let me know when they would arrive, and they were prompt. The lead mover explained again the contract, and went over insurance coverage. I explained to the movers what I considered our top priority of the move which was furniture first and if any room on the truck, the heavy boxes. They were great! They handled and wrapped our furniture as if they were moving their own stuff. I would highly recommend this company! Kudos to this moving company! Thank you so much! read more

Pros: Arrived on time Cons: Failed to call 30 minutes prior to showing up, only had two guys, took their dear sweet time, left part of a bunk bed for me to breakdown. Overpriced. We have used Around the Town Movers in the past and it was a great experience, this go round, not so much. Only had two movers when the last time there were three and didn't tale three hours.
