The movers who delivered my Greenfront Furniture were very good. They were careful and patient in trying to figure out how to put the leaves in the table that I ordered. I really appreciated how hard they worked! They put the table together, and eventually we all determined that there was an issue with a closing mechanism. I used this company twice within a three month period. The first move went really well so I thought I would just use them again for the second move . If I could give a zero I would. The movers if you want to call them that were people they hired off the streets and did not have moving experience. All my boxes were labeled but they could not read English so marking the boxes was a waste of time. Things were moved into the wrong rooms and lamps were broken. The crew leader was the only one who had experience but he could not be everywhere . A move that should have taken a few hours was milked into an entire day of moving. They also were caught passing my furniture out the balcony window instead of carrying down the steps. If you hire this company make sure you buy insurance, demand experienced movers. Have them Show proof. Because anyone can go pick up guys off the street. But to pay a premium for inexperienced movers is an insult. Management did provide me a discount and did fix the two broken lamps but only after I complained big time. They were only going to offer me a few dollars for both lamps which really set me off. The receipt myself and the 3 movers signed stated that my total would a little over a $400. Despite, this I received a phone call later that a "mistake" had been made and that I would be charged a total of a little over $800 instead! I understand mistakes happen, but companies with good practice would typically take the fault for their mistake rather than fault the customer. Additionally, I was promised that these movers would supply a mattress cover to cover my mattress while it was being moved, however this did not happen. The mattress was thrown onto their dirty moving equipment without any sort of protection. They also used my toilet without my knowledge and permission and neglected to flush after the fact despite only being on the premises for less than an hour, which is unacceptable. read more

I've used Around Town Movers Before and went back to them for my recent local move. The move went smoothly and the movers were hard workers. But somehow during the process of my move, my TV broke. I called the corporate office and filed a claim for my TV. They were basically non-responsive but I was persistent and continued to call the moving company back to check in with my claim. They finally offered me a $50 credit to 'maintain good relations.' They said they aren't sure what happened. I paid for a local move and tipped each mover. I expected them to act responsibly and cover the claim for anyone but especially a returning customer. We used Around Town Movers for a residential move of our furniture only. Since we were moving a short distance away, we figured we'd handle the smaller things and clothes on our own. I'll give them 1 star because they showed up on time, got it all moved and nothing got damaged (that we know of). They wrapped our furniture well and maneuvered some tricky areas. I'm deducting 4 stars because in a time of COVID, it's inexcusable to have: A) Two of the movers decide to go poop in your bathrooms without any notice or warning. Bathrooms that had no TP in them (because we were moving and it was packed)! One of the bathrooms was CLEARLY marked "DO NOT ENTER" and we showed them the DO NOT ENTER signs when we toured them around at first arrival. I understand bodily functions - which is why we had set aside 1 bathroom for the movers and told them about it. However, we had assumed they would use it for #1 only. I mean, who goes #2 in someone else's bathroom, a CUSTOMER'S BATHROOM? And, in a pandemic where the virus is known to be shed this way - this kind of health risk is irresponsible. We assumed they would have been responsible, and taken care of these kinds of bio functions in advance. B) One of the movers go into a room that we had CLEARLY told them was off-limits and had nothing for them to move - and search through our personal things to try and find TP. This is outrageous. We were standing right outside of the house, and accessible - and they never came to us and asked us for anything. It was only by looking through our upstairs windows at the movers that we saw one of the movers walking repeatedly into the off-limits area. It was then we approached the head mover and asked what they were doing going into that room and he replied "looking for toilet paper". By the smell, it was clear that one of the movers had already gone to the bathroom - AND didn't clean up after himself. This created a serious bio-hazmat issue. We dug out a roll of TP and gave it to them, at which point the other mover went to a different bathroom and did a #2. C) 2 of the movers stop wearing masks inside the house. Yes, moving is exerting. But wearing masks inside the house was a requirement for our move (because we needed to go back into the home), we explained this upfront. And despite repeated requests, they stopped wearing them or had them down around their chins. And no, it wasn't for a breathe or two. One of the movers fully took off the mask at one point. We still had to go back into the house and finish the move out of our smaller items and clothes - but between the bio-hazmat bathroom situation and the lack of mask-wearing, we had to air the house out for 24 hours before going back in. This set us back significantly on our move timeline and left us hauling things out in masks ourselves and with a healthy dose of concern for our well-beings. In an area where you have many, many choices for movers, we would recommend avoiding this one. read more

Swindlers!! DO NOT USE!! I was told the move would be 9 hours max and it ended up being 15 hours at 180 an hour. Plus they charged me 360 for travel there and back. Which I was told would be credited toward the move and was a separate charge. Many items were broken when I opened the boxes and they even broke a giant pot with a plant from my fathers funeral and never told me!!! I had to speak with the company twice and leave messages. Wow this place is the real deal. I have never moved apartments before and this past Saturday around town movers helped us move. They were so so quick and made everything a breeze. The movers were super nice and efficient. I was blown away with how fast they were but also so careful. Nothing was damaged at all and everything packed so securely. 80 in tv, glass ware, couch, two more tvs, appliances, bed, desk vanities etc. nothing was damaged. So, I was looking for some movers to go from a three-bedroom townhouse, to a one-bedroom apartment on the third floor. After getting a couple of quotes I settled with around town movers. They weren't bad, but they weren't great either. There was a huge disconnect with their team members and their services to the point where I had at least 4 people call me on different occasions and asked me for the exact same information about the details of my move. Then they subcontract out the movers, who were absolutely wonderful, took great care of my belongings, but you could tell they were not in sync with the post contractor. Everything was disjointed and desperate. I would hire the subcontractors again in a heartbeat, but I would try to do so without going through around town movers the main company. So, for the record, I would give around town movers 1 star, and I would give the subcontractor four stars if not five. So that's why I gave this view a solid 3. read more

While our move wasn't perfect, it was good, and considering the difference in affordability compared to other companies that were significantly more expensive, I'd say we had a pretty good experience. We used Around Town Movers to move from our first home in Falls Church to a new home in Fairfax in November of 2017, with one night of overnight storage in between as we had back to back closings on both houses. The team came to our house to pack up on a Tuesday, stored our belongings overnight, then met us at the new house Wednesday to unload. PROS: -significantly less expensive than other larger companies with many of the same benefits -simple process to book and confirm -was able to request a nonsmoking crew, who arrived on time and were polite and courteous -did not charge us a fee for overnight storage -the guys worked pretty quickly packing up our things and wrapped everything securely (see photos) which was a big help as it was raining the day we moved out -house was well protected and movers did take care to keep our belongings safe. We had a few minor incidents but overall they did a good job -overall, I'd recommend and honestly wouldn't necessarily be willing to pay another $1k for a larger company based on the cons below CONS: -The gentleman who did our home visit to do a quote wasn't as thorough as other companies when it came to assessing how many belongings we had. He said he didn't need to look inside our shed or crawl space although I stressed that we WOULD need to move our lawn mower, grill, etc., and ultimately on moving day, there was not enough room in the truck for all of our belongings. Luckily between our SUV and a family member's SUV we were able to make a couple of trips to make it work, but it definitely wasn't convenient or fun to load up lawn equipment and dirty patio items into personal vehicles when we'd paid for movers. We did report the issue and they did remove an hour's worth of charges to compensate, which I felt was fair. Frankly, I'm amazed they got everything they did into one truck (see photo) -We did have a few minor incidents, one in particular where a mover was putting down an end table and dinged the wall pretty good. However, he did point it out right away, photograph it, and flagged for his supervisor. We also had some trouble with our bedroom dresser. During the initial consult we were told it would just get wrapped with the drawers inside of it, but they ultimately removed them during the move. When they reassembled the dresser during the move in, a few of the drawers were forced, breaking the tracks so the drawers couldn't be inserted smoothly (see photo). We filed a claim and got it resolved, but like most people, didn't opt for the more expensive moving insurance so we only got about $60 back on an expensive dresser. It's not totally ruined, just bummed that we were told it would get handled one way but was then handled differently, resulting in damage. -We bought the crew lunch on move-in day, which I was more than happy to do, but they didn't amend the hourly fees to reflect the lunch break, which some other companies do -There was a bit of a language barrier with the crew, which wasn't an issue for the most part, but at the end of the move when I asked to speak with a supervisor to clarify the hour they were comping for not fitting everything into the truck, I think the crew member who dinged the wall misunderstood and thought I was upset with him, and became upset. It was uncomfortable and I called the supervisor later that evening and asked him to please clarify that we were happy with the team overall and that our questions weren't based on their efforts Overall, it was a decent experience with more pros than cons, and I don't think I'd be willing to pay almost twice as much for a larger company - just my personal preference during an already expensive time. read more

They came in over budget AND It was difficult during the pack and move to communicate with non-English speaking crew. During pack day, all 3 ladies spent significant time on their phones and took lunch but charged me for a full day as if no breaks had been taken. On move day, that crew also spent time on their phones. Because several of the packers did not speak English many boxes are not labeled in a fashion that allows you determine contents before opening. The move was more expensive because items were packed they were told not to pack. There was a complete lack of coordination on move day between home office and onsite crew. They sent one truck to a storage unit and one to the home and expected me to pay for the guys waiting at a storage unit who were supposed to be unpacking my home. Furniture was set up in the wrong locations and had to be taken apart and reassembled. I was told by Travis who quoted the move, items in wardrobe boxes would be hung in closets. I got 4 boxes of dry cleaned clothes dumped on my bed and left to fall on the floor. There was damage on every floor of my new construction home and 2 different pieces of furniture had the front right leg torn off. Both times they tried to hide it. Once piece of furniture they were not even supposed to be moving. I filed a claim and never heard back. Needless to say, I did not write the final check for the full amount. Company management was supposed to call on Monday. Around Town Movers charged my card for what they thought I owed and never called. No one wore masks during Covid if that matters to you. The only thing I can say good is that they started the clock on time to get paid and brought proper supplies to properly wrap furniture. They got a star because you have to give at least one star to post. read more

We had an EXCELLENT move with Around Town on the weekend of June 2, 2018. We moved from a townhouse in Herndon to a Single-Family House in North Herndon, and the crew did an amazing job. The process was so quick & easy - they actually finished before their allotted time frame. The crew showed up directly on time and got to work expertly packing the moving truck. They were careful to wrap furniture, and did not ding even one wall in the whole house. Worst move ever and am still moving seven days later; Or the move from hell. They finally showed up at 5 pm, almost at the edge of the six hour window- but they got there. I had a window for moving at the new place of between 1 and 4 pm and had to work that out with the management company. Around 8 pm "M" the crew chief said no more (no mas). Not that the trunk was full; it was late and M did not want to deal with it anymore. I literally had to force them to get some of the other things - brass lamp, boxes etc. but not everything. Mind you that the two other crew members were great and hard working. I watched and worked along side of them since things were going so poorly. At 10 pm the evening was over and there was a $400 additional charge for two hours and something else plus a $100 unexplained charge which I'll protest, I got f@@ked on this and no good night kiss. May I get a refund? I don't see any value in an incomplete job especially when that job was laid out and defined at the start. Would I recommend them - I think not. read more

You should go with a different company if you care about the items being moved. They didn't wrap any items, and dropped furniture on the concrete so it scratched and dented, paint came off, etc. I wish I could attach pictures of all the damage. They didn't care and just kept packing and moving. I'm trying to contact the company now to complain and try to get reimbursement for the damage, and I'm getting no response. SCAMMERS with a lack of care of attention to detail. DO NOT BOOK THEM!!!!!!!! We moved to a new apartment in October, and hired Our Guys to handle the move (I don't mind moving myself, but stairs are the enemy!). This was the second move we'd ultimately used Our Guys for (my parents used them a little over a little over a year and a half ago). From the get go, the Our Guys rep we spoke to (Eric) was professional and courteous, and were up front in the charges and estimates. They didn't try to hide any costs, and were direct and to the point. We were originally trying to just get a quote, but I was so impressed by their directness and honesty I signed on the spot. I believe Our Guys uses former superheroes as movers. These guys are strong - insanely so. I've watched these guys heft small couches and furniture on their backs and RUN UP STAIRS with no issue. No exaggeration. I have no idea how they do it, but they do. They were fairly careful, communicative and did work. Not all of the movers spoke English well, but they were still easy to work with and more than willing to go a little above and beyond. The final costs were a little more than I anticipated, but I also underestimated how much stuff we had. Completely satisfied. Bonus: they responded to my quote request within hours of putting in the request. Quick turn around! read more

The worst experience ever!!!!! Arrived 45 minutes late and even called me to get the address. Didn't put down anything to protect hardwood floors or carpeting. Every item they picked up they said "heavy". Not sure why you would hire movers other than to move the heavy items. Dresser leg was broken and top was scratched. Our Guys Around Town were amazing! We had to move from Fairfax to Stafford (and had a storage unit on the way as well). The moving crew did a wonderful job working efficiently. Biggest plus- not a single thing broke. When I called to get an estimate, they were courteous and pleasant and returned my call within a couple of hours. They aren't the cheapest, but you get every penny's worth in the peace of mind you get. I used another company last time and it was an absolute nightmare- what's the point of paying less when you end up working as a crew member, your stuff still ends up broken and dented, they charge you more on the spot because they make some bogus rules and you can't reach them on the phone when you have a question? These guys worked wonderfully and you can do your own thing while they empty your place out because they really know what they're doing. I had a dog and toddler to juggle while moving and didn't have to police or guide them at all. They pack the truck, bring all blankets, dollies, carts, shrink wrap etc We were a hard move (11 hours) but they didn't complain even once. No negatives from me at all. The crew was great, but the office staff is slick. I purchased a Groupon for two hours of moving and the Groupon says nothing about a $ 150.00 travel fee. They took my credit card for a $150 deposit and upon completing my move charged me the hidden fee of $150.00. When I spoke to the office staff I was told the fee was in the fine print of the edocument I signed. I urged the the Groupon says nothing about the fee not to mention we moved 5 miles away. Even the crew said customers always have a problem with the office. I will NOT reccomend this company and I plan to challenge the charge with my credit card company. I lived in a one bedroom apartment and was moving across the street in a small town center. I was initially quoted $400-$500 for the move. They estimated a total pack and move of my home and in the end were $1500 over estimate and that was with me actually packing half. We were suppose to get free wardrobe boxes for all hanging clothes but they only did that for my husband and mine clothes and then all of our kids clothes were shoved into boxes which cost us extra money. I opened one box of clothes that was only half full and then filled with packing paper the other half. They would take breaks on a regular basis and one of the movers was constantly smoking around the trucks with my belongings. They put my sons bed back together wrong which has become a safety hazard and we have to fix. On day 2 of my move it was in my contract for them not to start until 11am and they tried to have the start time say 9am which then I lost time of them moving while we argued of this. Absolutely not the experience I was promised by the estimator and I feel that I was scammed with the low estimate to get me to hire them and then they found every way possible to jack up the price. read more

A solid five stars for the moving crew that did the work - hard workers (perhaps a bit too hard since they didn't stop for lunch or dinner until we offered a few pizzas). A luke warm three stars for the admin side as we were told an 8am start time. When the truck was a no show, I called at 8:20am only to be told they'd call me back. After another 30minutes with no call back, I called again and was told they were 5minutes out and were expected to arrive by 9am. When I asked what happened to 8am, I was told they schedule crew arrivals for a 1 hour window (8-9am) but this was never communicated to me. read more

Perfect for our office move! I reached out to Around Town Movers to receive a quote and was very impressed with their prompt reply and detailed explanation of the process. I met with a person the day after I spoke with them to show them our old space and to detail what would need to be moved. That person then visited the new location to receive all of the details regarding where the truck could be parked/how to coordinate the move with the building management, etc. I really appreciated that he took that upon himself as it saved me a ton of time. We paid for packing, moving out, storage, and moving in and the Around Town Movers team was great. Very respectful and professional throughout the whole move. They were really great at working with the rules of our old building/new building (no moving before 5pm, laying down of materials to protect elevators and walls, etc.). These guys arrived on time for a 9am start time and throughout the process they were super helpful and professional. Rated a 4 because some small things (shoe rack hangers) were damaged or lost but nothing huge and won't influence my decision to use them again. No furniture, walls, dishes, or anything else were damaged or broken, and they moved fairly quickly. They were also friendly, offered suggestions to make things less costly for me, and at no time did I feel like they were taking advantage of me, a small single female with no additional help (things women think about). I felt bad that one of the movers was allergic to cats but next time I'll make sure to add that in ahead of time, and it might be something the company wants to add to their questions when first giving out quotes. I can't say enough good things about this experience. I used Yelp to get quotes from 4 places and they all responded with emails pretty quickly. I followed up with each and only 2 could do the following Saturday. Around Town also wanted to do an on-site estimate to meet with me to get a lay of the land to properly estimate the job(4floor townhouse to a house). My estimator told me he was being conservative so I wouldn't be surprised. He estimated 4-5 hours. The crew showed up right on time and finished the whole move in 3:15. They only charge for actual hours and they work hard! They covered all floors and doors as well as wrapping furniture. I highly recommend them. Their packing and loading crew were interested in how I wanted my things cared for. Did a great job packing and loading. We hired Our Guys Around Town Movers to handle our move from Herndon to Centreville. We had tons of stuff, and most of it was really heavy because it was predominantly furniture. We were impressed from the first point of contact! Two estimators came out to our place and took their time to diligently scope out the work. Not only were they professional, but they also showed up on time- literally to the minute. They checked each room and our storage unit and then sat down to discuss what we could do on our end to save time the day of the move. Their estimate was was very fair. Because the estimating process was so impressive, we didn't even bother shopping around. We know that they aren't the cheapest (because we have moved a few times already in the past 6 years). I purchased a groupon for $200 bucks and that was nothing compared to the additional $300 plus dollars they charged me with the groupon, for a total of $500 plus dollars to move a one bedroom apartment less than 20 miles. A total rip-off. Take my advice never use this service this showed up after 9am and wanted me to initial they showed up at 9am then proceeded to move so slowly to milk the time. I have used many moving companies through UHAUL and they always complete the job in two hours it's a mystery why it took these guys 3 and half hours when every other company I used moved a 1 bedroom apartment in 2 hours or LESS and this company took 3 and 1/2 hours. Take my advice go elsewhere. Update: Folks don't believe the hype, these people are scam artists and I have filed an official compliant so the lies about not knowing I was dissatisfied is laughable. You charged a $125 trip fee, which is nowhere advertised until you contact your company to book, then I did not receive a confirmation call and your company redeemed my groupon before the service was even provided. Then I had to assist the movers to try and get them from milking the clock, I caught them twice sitting around looking at their clock when I walked up they pretended they were moving stuff on the truck. read more

Their ratings were better and I liked their process and policy for handling damages should any occur. You deal with someone local and they could explain the process clearly. Other companies couldnt even explain who I would call. so you know trying to place a claim later would be difficult. Our Guys is locally owned and operated and NOT a SUB CONTRACTOR. **Consumers BEWARE of those movers who subcontract to bigger companies because they will play games with you and placing a claim is a lost cause. Ask this question - do you subcontract in or out? The answer should be NO. I learned the hard way once before. DO NOT EVER USE - Go Pro Movers or aka Pro Movers Van Lines. They are horrible and subcontract to local companies. They are a scam!** I moved a single family home I have lived in with my family, for the past 16 years! A lot of crap basically. LOL Day 1 they (3 guys) packed me. This was hard because we still needed some things over night and for the next morning so be sure you place that stuff aside because they do pack everything unless you ask them not to. Day 2 they (5 guys) moved me. It was a long day for everyone but the crew aims to please, so they do ask where do you want this or that. You are still on your feet all day so be prepared. TIPS and NOTEWORTHY ITEMS: * They don't move everything, for example they wont move flammables, cleaning supplies, propane tanks, paint, etc... Move these things yourself before the moving day if you can. * Pack and move things you don't want broken or stolen. Just to be safe and so you don't worry about them. I moved my own jewelry, guns, and some precious breakables. * Pack and move your own kitchen and baths, to save money. They are tedious and costly if they have to pack them. I moved them days before my actual move date. Saved me hundreds of dollars. * Clean out and pre-pack your garages or sheds months before your move if you can. I did and it saved me a lot of money and I didn't move too much junk over. * Be sure the crew protects your walls and floors before any move out and move in. It really helps reduce bumps on the walls and carpet stains. * Start your move day early to avoid rush hour traffic because you are charged by the hour. Sitting in 2 hours of rush hour traffic is a waster of money. We started my day at 7am and were on the road well before 3pm/before rush hour. * Moving is NOT perfect, so small things will happen. Overlook the minor wall scrape and messy packed box. Focus on if there was any major damage or loss, if not then the move was successful. Eric was Great! Dave was Great!
