Ms. Sahar is a superb ambassador for the Extra Space Storage facility at 45925 Woodland Rd, Sterling, VA 20166. I recently concluded my use of the facility because I am downsizing and I will tell you, go for the extra cost of the indoor, climate controlled storage space. My items were always free of dust and more importantly, there were never any bugs in the unit. When I first rented well over a year ago, Ms. Sahar walked me through all of the options regarding size and cost and she made sure the unit I selected met my needs and was within my budget. I strongly recommend that anyone in the area who needs storage, use the Extra Space Storage facility on Woodland Road and specifically ask for Ms. Sahar. If Extra Space Storage wanted to enhance their overall customer service efforts, they should promote Ms. Sahar and put her in charge of training all facility managers. Bring a tape measure! This storage place charged me for a 10x10 unit that ended up being 9x5 (not even 9' - a few inches shorter). When I said something, they told me the sizes were "approximate." This place is sketchy. The front gate works, but the back gate is always broken and wide open. I think they buy their reviews. Buyer beware. Please be careful. read more

Last minute. I decided to go by the Extra Space Storage - but drive past it to the Next location a block away & boy, am I glad I did! I spoke w/Bryant Carrion, the Asst Mgr & he provided STELLAR customer service: he carefully listened to my requirements, patiently, accurately & cheerfully answered all my questions. He then gave me a tour + took me to the available unit. This location is 1 level w/3 separate entrance, Each door has a magnet & timer, plus inside dollies, which has been super convenient! Wow! This place is infested with mice! I just moved out after other tenants there were saying they had mouse piss and poop all the time and all over their stuff! Just after 2 weeks of moving in, all of my stuff in my 10x10' unit had mouse droppings everywhere and smelled like piss and mouse poop. I called and told the office twice but nothing has changed! I just moved out after a few months because it was getting worst and worst! *** Highly NOT recommended facility! The other extra space buildings seem to be great! read more

This place deserves ZERO stars! From the very beginning when nobody was ever in the office or answered the phone I should have known better and walked away. During my use of this place I had a total of 3 different units. All 3 units were in separate buildings and all 3 were INFESTED with mice! Everything I own was covered in mouse feces. Each time I visited after storing my belongings I saw mice, even had them scurry across my feet. My clothes were ripped to shreds and mouse droppings covered my dishes and kitchen items. They built nests in my furniture and even inside my vacuum cleaner. I complained numerous times to no avail. They even tried to increase my rent while there. I pitched a fit and they kept my rent the same. The 2 zombies in the office just stared blankly at me when I would express my concerns, act as if I'm lying and neither offered so much as an apology. The only thing they were able to mutter was that I opted out of insurance. DO NOT GO HERE! DO YOUR RESEARCH! GO ELSEWHERE! Stored many items in a 5x10 storage room, should have been more diligent in wrapping things, but after removing my stuff I found that I had cat urine on various items including my bed. They also appeared to have fumigated or sprayed something throughout the building - my television had some kind if residue all over it. Fast forward 6 months an I believe the picture problems I'm having with my relatively new, minimally used, high quality Samsung TV are due to some kind of airborne mist settling into the back of my tv (has many "air slits" into the inner workings). The cat urine took a few bleechings, but honestly I'd rather smell a little bleach than cat urine. It faded after a couple weeks. I also found you can only review their services on their own web page while you are actually a paying customer. I tried to write a review after I canceled the service but they do not allow that (smart!). read more

There are several storage facilities on this road. They are all roughly the same price. They all also offer a free (or nearly free) month. However, extra space offers it as the first month. The others require you to rent for a month to get the discounted second month. Since there was a possibility of me only needing one month, this was a no brainier. The staff - well I've only seen 2 there - are friendly and helpful. The storage spaces are clean, as are the hallways. The halls inside aren't _well_ lit, but lit well enough. They provide carts for moving items as well. The storage areas are smooth and level. The only negative is the driving areas. While the storage areas are perfectly flat, the outside is not. This means if you bring a cart out to your car/truck it will roll away. I do t think this is true of all the buildings, but definitely the one I'm in. This wasn't a big deal when I had help moving the bulk of my stuff in. However, when I went back alone to put in some odds and ends, I had to prop the cart against my car to keep it from rolling off. read more

The reservation online made the process very quick and easy. It took a total of 10 minutes to get my storage space and be on my way! The staff is nice and courteous. The rates are very good, for a temp controlled and a reg storage space. I would recommend this to anyone looking for temp or permanent storage space :) read more

I needed some extra storage space and I made a reservation online. According to the instruction, I was supposed to get a call from the manager but I didn't. I called them and they asked me to come in. I went there, signed up and picked up the keys all within half hr. The storage space is clean and seems secure. Just bring a lock with you, locks there seems a bit expensive. read more
