I tried to add this restaurant and found it under this name when I checked the address. Name says L'arros &.... New number 972 606 979/638 151 553 Hours of operation : Lunch 1pm - 4pm Dinner 8pm-11pm Wednesday closed all day Tues open for lunch only. Came by this place since it was close to where I was at that time.. There seems to be so many good seafood restaurants in this town. I've been to different restaurant in Barcelona with similar style. But this place preps the dish different style and full service.. The restaurant was very clean, stylish and friendly staff. You pick the seafood, they weight it front of you and cost to cook the style you want. I ordered 2 fresh oysters. Lady helping us said it was her favorite kind/imported from France. $5 a pop so ordered 2 only . Ordered sea urchin, baby clams cooked with garlic and parsley. Also ordered the lagosta arrossos caldosos style.. I was told it was like paella but more soup style.. Only thing I was not happy with was that they had to split it and make it into 2 order which ended up costing 80 euro. But I was in a splurging mood so I decided to go for it. Also ordered fried calamari. So for starter bread.. Seems all the bread main in Spain is yummy. Ordered beer and water... First came oysters and sea urchin.. Oyster was definitely good.. Nice plump size and fresh. Sea urchin was different than one I'm used to. Smaller size but more sweet and less irony. Fried calamari was also yummy. Nice tender and the breading was just right. Baby clam also fresh clean and full of flavor. Now the main dish.. It came in a bit bowl and it reminded me of gumbo. I was bit disappointed to see that it basically had double amount of all dente rice. So one lagosta split in half double amount of rice for 80 euros. This could have been made one serving for 40 euro but that was not an option. But over all it was good. First time having lagosta (weird looking lobster). I think I would have preferred prepared it grilled. Now to dessert.. Order tiramisu and xuixo de girona (was told Girona dessert). Tiramisu in a little cup.. Omg.. I have to say this was one of the best tiramisu I've ever eaten.. Soooo melt in your mouth, I'm in heaven dessert. The other one looked like fried egg roll sprinkled with sugar. Inside was cream I'm told. That was also yummy.. Nice crispy outside and inside was warm, sweet, and bread pudding texture.. That was also yummy. Over all it was good experience and food was yummy.. Wish I had more time in Girona. Passed this place on my way to a Game of Thrones walking tour and it did not disappoint. You're able to order the seafood you want from the counter. We got 2 uni (sea urchin) which was like 8 euros and both tasted different, scallop, seafood risotto soup, octopus and oyster. Everything we had was delicious. The seafood all tasted fresh and would come back here again if I ever find myself back in the beauty town of Girona. read more

I came upon this restuarant by accident. I entered and asked for a table for one. The friendly hosts explained that I needed to order my food at the fish counter before taking a table. I waited in line and tried to understand the people in front of me and what they were ordering. Everyone waiting in line was offered a glass of Kava, which was tasty. Upon my turn the man at the fisher counter asked if I spoke English and directed me through the process making recommendations based on my interests. We selected some mussels for an appetizer followed by a local smaller whole fish. i was then seated at a table in the corner near the back by an old stone wall. It was the perfect vantage point to people watch both patrons of the restaurant and those walking by the restaurant. I ordered a glass of the dry white wine by the glass which was refreshing and light. My food arrived and the server removed it from the bone placing the fish and accompanying slices of potates and sauce on my plate. It was delicious! I finished my meal with a cafe con leche. Wanted to go here for lunch with my family but found out they were fully booked for lunch. So we asked to reserve for dinner and luckily they could accommodate right when they open for dinner at 8:15 PM. We were there earlier to check out the seafood selection. You can be view through the window, and we were in time to see them refill the seafood, and wow they were fresh as in still moving lobsters, langostines, razor clams, clear eyed fish, baby squid, clams, and so much more. There is no menu to look at and the cost depends on the weight of the seafood. When we came in they gave us Champagne and we picked out our seafood and how we want it prepared before sitting down. The waiter made recommendations and how to prepare but also kept reminding us that we control the price, LOL especially when we got 10 prawns for 80 euro They recommend an appetizer to share, then each individual entree. We opted to share everything and seafood paella for 2 to share (good thing too, because we ordered enough seafood that it took 5 of us to finish the paella. We ordered baby squid prepared aduliacian style, cuttle fish grilled with parsley and olive oil, grilled prawns, razor clams with parsley and olive oil, grilled sardines, seafood paella, and tuna tartare. Wow everything was delicious, it's a nice restaurant but everyone was eating with their hands. Best seafood dinner and the tartare as an ending to the meal, I can't even write how good it was. We're heading to Barcelona for the rest of our vacation and we're planning to go to the Barcelona location as well. read more

I've never been more in love with the concept of a restaurant. I stumbled upon this restaurant by Yelp. I passed by it and through the window the fresh seafood caught my eye. I was so ecstatic that this was the same restaurant I yelped. I walked in at 7:30 but they don't open until 8. I say that's fine because that gives me 30 minutes to walk around the beautiful city. I come back and am immediately greeted by the friendly staff. They explained that you have to pick your seafood first. Then, they cook it! Fabulous! I over ordered and the waiter let me know. I said that's okay because I'm just tasting everything and taking stuff to go. After you order, you sit down and are greeted with a complimentary champagne. You then are asked to order a beverage. The food comes out pretty fast btw! They do try to pace it. The food is phenomenal!!! $6 for fresh sea urchin?!?! You can't beat that!!!! Oysters were delicious. I had some kind of live shrimp that was kicking before I bought it, razor clams, scallops, and a classic seafood paella! I got pretty full after eating the urchin and shrimp, but had to make stomach space for the rest. I died and went to heaven. The waitress comes out with a dessert tray at the end of your meal. I passed on it, but if I had space I would have. At the end, you pay for your meal even though you order ahead of time. A wonderful seafood restaurant concept. You choose the fish you want for a starter and main course. Then you choose the simple preparation of grilled or saiteed with garlic and butter. This was a wonderful restaurant, that has a really fun take on seafood. At the front of the restaurant they had three blackboards with all the dishes on them. You could choose one of those dishes or select some of the fresh seafood laid out on the ice. They'd weight the seafood for you and you could say how much you wanted or not. Then you paid and were seated. It was a really nice and modern restaurant. Very friendly service and delicious! I wished we could have eaten there twice. read more

Arron I Peix should be on your must-eat-at list for Girona. My wife and I were wandering the idyllic historic streets of Girona and happened upon Arros I Peix and our mouths dropped... ok, our mouths dropped AND watered. At first, one might think she or he was passing a fish shop, as you see the fresh seafood displayed on ice in the window by the till. But then... you see tables where customers are eating freshly cooked seafood that has been caught locally. When you walk in the door you have the option of choosing any seafood (as displayed on the ice) to be cooked and then served at your table. Regrettably, and possibly tragically, we decided to pass on this when we came, thinking we would try the place out again the next day (it was closed at the time we wanted to eat the next day). As the restaurant has the word 'rice' in the name we were both inclined to have paella, and were by no means disappointed. It is definitely some of the best in Girona. My wife had the rabbit paella and I had a cod paella. I couldn't recommend it enough. It was really good. One of the bonuses of this restaurant is that they serve wine by the bottle at very good prices. The table next to us--- the one with the phenomenally scrumptious looking fresh seafood--- had ordered a bottle for only €6 or 7. I had expected it to cost that much for a glass. We came back the next day to try some of the fresh grilled seafood, but it was closed. As with many places in Catalunya, Arros I Peix is closed between about 4pm and 8pm. This is typical, albeit a slight challenge for our American eating habits. But the hours or worth noting when looking to eat here (or anywhere in Girona for that matter). read more

World class restaurant no matter where you are. Just happens that this is in Girona Spain, home to the best cycling teams of the world, game of thrones and where Kabbalah got started. The food is simply the freshest and best prepared. The clams were so delicious the lobster had to be banded so he wouldn't eat them before the customers I've been here four times over the past two years. Girona has taken notice as its always packed and the prices are extremely reasonable. If you go to Girona and like seafood you simply must make a reservation, its that good. read more

Wonderful restaurant!!!! I wish I could give 10 stars. I came on a two week trip of Spain and this was the best meal we had! We came to the restaurant and were given two glasses of champagne then directed to a beautiful assortment of fish and seafood on ice. The staff were very friendly and helped us choose a great meal. We had Tuna tartar ( incredible!) sea bream and rice with calamari and clams. Would want to come here every week if I were local--- we'll be back next time for sure! read more

My brother & I stumbled upon this amazing restaurant while wandering through the old town looking for somewhere for dinner. We were warmly welcomed by the extremely friendly & helpful staff (who spoke excellent English) & given a comprehensive explanation of how the restaurant worked-you pick your seafood from the fresh seafood display at the entrance & choose how it is cooked & with which accompaniments. My brother & I selected some cockles & artichokes for entree & then squid ink rice & noodles with various seafood for main. It was all so delicious & the wine we selected from the strong wine list matched very well. Service was extremely attentive & efficient despite the restaurant being extremely busy! Overpriced, terrible ambience. The seafood was lovely and beautifully cooked. But don't order a fish cooked in salt or you'll get an inept waiter moving the salt off the fish and taking out the bones, and what you'll get is a rapidly cooling pile of fish bits with salt crumbles in it. The bread was stale. The lighting is really bright (like a supermarket) and it's noisy. The tables are close together and waiters brush past and hit your chair on the way. Eat somewhere else in Girona, there are lots of great places that give you a good experience without the high prices. read more

A superb meal. Even though it was on ice, the fish was still swimming! You choose your food, they cook it as you wish with happy suggestions if you'd like.
