I am incredibly grateful they were, because the care I've received here has been exceptional. Their staff took wonderful care of my elderly cat until his passing at 20 years old. When I came to them with concerns about his quality of life, the veterinarians were compassionate, honest, and clear. They did not sugarcoat his condition, but instead gave me all the information I needed to make an informed and humane decision about euthanasia. That transparency meant everything during such a difficult time. They also helped me arrange private cremation services through a third-party provider that travels up from the Cities once a week. I was able to choose a wooden urn, and while the process took about two and a half weeks due to the holiday season, the experience was handled with care and respect. The third-party service provided a tracking link so I could see where my cat was in the process and also shared grief resources, which I deeply appreciated. When his cremains returned, North Country Veterinary promptly called me to let me know they were ready for pickup. Now, the same clinic is caring for my new puppy, and the experience has been just as positive. The staff suggested enrolling in their Paw Plan, which has been a great way to budget for routine veterinary expenses, including neutering. Having predictable monthly payments makes it much easier to ensure my puppy gets all the care he needs. The clinic also sells pet food, standard medications, and offers a convenient online portal to order or reorder prescriptions and everyday necessities like flea medication. I highly recommend North Country Veterinary to any new pet parents in the area, as well as to longtime pet owners who may be considering switching vets. They have one extremely RUDE receptionist & are threatening to send my CANCELED "Paw" Plans to "collections" for services I did not even use, because of a total of 202 dollars!!?? RIDICULOUS!!! Despite the wounds being several days old, they were able to clean and stitch the wounds and his ear looks great! They also offered same day neutering for him since he was already being sedated, which I gladly accepted!! They were so kind and thoroughly explained everything. Kept in contact with me throughout the day to keep me up to date on his progress! I now have a new regular vet clinic!! The staff were all wonderful!

My dog was having some kind of toxic neurological reaction to the anti-tick oil that I put on his…read moreback while I was on vacation in the local area.  This vet wouldn't schedule any appointment unless I were willing to pay an "urgent care" premium of $170 in addition to the exam fee and any medicine.  And the "urgent care" appointment was 2 weeks out. I called my vet in the twin cities (Broadway Robbinsdale Animal Hospital, which I cannot recommend highly enough) and they encouraged me not to wait two weeks for an urgent situation and to get him looked at as quickly as possible and if I were willing to drive to the cities they would schedule an immediate appointment. Broadway also recommended BluePearl Pet Hospital in Duluth, a walk-in after-hours emergency vet, should his condition deteriorate overnight.   I'm not big on opportunistic price gouging. If they treat humans this way, how will they treat your pet?

Excellent service, excellent job and my dogs love going there. When I went on vacay they came 4 times a day and took care of my dogs. And brought them to doggie daycare! Everyone is super friendly and explains everything to us. Our 10 yr old Siberian had a big tumor on her chest which was removed in October and is doing unbelievably great! Our questions & concerns are always addressed quickly and thoroughly. Also, our dogs have been boarded here with no issues. Special dietary food is also available in the lobby. We are reverse snowbirds, living near Bigfork in the summer and California the rest of the year, so when our 13-year-old Lab mix suffered a sudden, serious medical crisis, we needed to find a veterinarian quickly. Animal Care Clinic was able to fit us in the same day. From the veterinary technician who took Milo's history and vitals to the veterinarian, Dr Hockenson, who examined him, everyone was professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, and respectful. The veterinarian was thorough in her evaluation and explained the situation clearly. Most importantly, she was honest. She discussed diagnostic options but did not give us false hope or pressure us into unnecessary testing. After examining Milo, I asked Dr Hockenson for her professional opinion regarding euthanasia. She agreed that it was the kindest option given his condition and supported us through that difficult decision. The staff first gave Milo a sedative so he could relax and be comfortable. Throughout the process, both Dr Hockenson and technician showed tremendous compassion. They gave us the time, privacy, and support we needed to say goodbye. I cannot thank them enough for the care they provided to Milo and to us on a very difficult day.
