Great hosts, great campground, clean shower, laundry, toilets with running water. Awesome location ,close to Buena Vista, Cottonwood Pass, Mt princeton hotsprings and Independence pass. Fourth year we stopped here, coming from Rocky Mt Natl Park, Crested Butte, or Aspen. Showers are only 1$ for 6 min, I can not understand why anybody would complain about that. Arrowhead Point Resort - Campgrounds Near Me - Buena Vista, Colorado

My husband and I stayed at this campground in July 2020. We regularly camp across the county using our travel trailer. This is one of the best run and maintained campgrounds we've stayed at. The bathrooms are impeccably clean. Seriously the nicest and cleanest bathrooms we've ever seen at a campground. The staff is kind and very helpful. We had a problem with the electricity in our camper when we arrived and one of their employees came immediately to help us. Very kind. The campground is 5 minutes north of Buena Vista- a cute small town. Be sure to visit the newly-constructed "new downtown" that looks right out of a magazine--charming. Excellent whitewater rafting in the area. About half an hour south of Leadville. This area doesn't have your stereotypical mountain scenery but it is nestled in a wide valley between mountains. Morning and evenings are especially nice. I recommend staying here. read more

My wife and I stayed for one night (Sept 2022) and paid $79.00 before taxes. $10.00 was a reservation fee! We've experienced reservation fees before but they ranged between $1-3.00. Ten dollars is outrageous. This park has weeds everywhere, uneven gravel sites, deeply rutted roads, the young lady at the office apparently knows nothing about the sites because she put us in a pull through that wasn't long enough for a small motorhome and toad (even though we told her the dimensions of our rig and toad). The road noise was horrendous. The park is very close to a major US highway. This park should be no more than $40.00 in peak season. As a qualifier, my wife and I travel a lot. We spend between 30 & 40 nights a year in RV Parks. This is one of the worst values we have encountered. read more

We stayed here before under previous management - the new owners took over in January of 2022.. Our previous stays were always pleasant and Cathy really had things under control. We have always stayed in Cottage 2 because we are not spring chickens anymore and prefer to stay in a "home" rather than a tent, yurt or rustic cabin. This last stay in Cottage 2 was a disaster. The cottage is a park home/modular home and should be considered the top way to stay. It has always been clean, bug and rodent free and cozy. NOT ANYMORE. THE COTTAGE HAD MOUSE DROPPINGS UNDER THE SINK AND BETWEEN THE STOVE AND REFRIDGERATOR. Not a couple of droppings - LOTS OF DROPPINGS. It obviously has an opening somewhere that is allowing rodents to come and go as they please. We saw at least two mice. The got into our clothing and food, It was disgusting. I can understand mice getting into a tent or yurt or rustic cabin but not in a modular home. it is NOT an RV. We will not be staying here anymore. Too bad.. We just left APR after a 3 night stay. While it was hot elsewhere, we didn't even need AC at night. Bathrooms were clean & accessible. Campground was neat & attractive. Staff were helpful & friendly. I've never really been moved to give bad reviews but this is by far one of the most disappointing experiences I've had at a campground. Location itself is fine, service and communication from staff have been disappointing. There was a request for us to have a tent site near a bathroom for one of our groups medical needs. They seemed to be accommodating, until they placed us next to a bathroom that doesn't exist. We looked for the bathroom for quite some time, eventually we had to ask front desk. They told us that the bathroom they placed us next to hasn't actually been built yet, and that there was a mistake on their part. They offered us to use the bathrooms at the stations, which were locked. How do you accommodate someone by placing them next to something that doesn't exist? The only other bathrooms were on the opposite side of the site, 15 minutes from our site. There were sizable lines coming from each stall, so the wait was exceptionally long. Staff were unhelpful, unapologetic, and in general disappointing. We decided to pay for this 60 dollar site to have better accommodations for our groups needs. I am 100% certain that we would have better access and support from much cheaper sites. In regards to the site itself, they are small, and squished together. On a side note, we were placed next to some of the most stereotypical racist who kept us up well after quiet hours. Disappointing experience overall. From the first phone call to make our reservations I knew this was going to be a pleasant experience. The type of accommodations we wanted were all ready reserved so they offered us a Cottage at a discount. Great business! They kept me from calling another campground and gave me a deal I felt was more than generous. They also made me loyal without even staying there yet. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. Check in was quick. As I walked in to Cottage 2, I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and amenities, so I quickly took some pictures before we made ourselves at home. This is a great little, cozy cabin! It comfortably sleeps four but there's room for six with a private bedroom in the back with a double bed, bunk beds in the kitchenette/front area, and a small but adequate loft that has a double mattress. There's a bathroom with towels for three and they even give it that special touch with travel size shampoo, conditioner and soap. In the kitchen they supplied hand soap and dish soap as well as paper towels, a hand towel and dish cloth. They have plates, cups, silverware, a few pots and pans and utensils. There's a fridge, stove/oven, and microwave. No baking pans are supplied, if you're so inclined to bake a pie! The back bedroom has a double bed with linens supplied. There's a private backyard area with a fire pit and a little BBQ grill. Also a picnic table and some logs for seating. Very cute and the view is amazing. You can tell they care about their customers and they take pride in the details of their camp. It's a great place to stay. I hope we can go again soon! read more

Worst camping experience ever, we will NEVER stay here again! The traffic noise was so loud we could not sleep at night and during the day you could not hear each other talk. We paid for internet and could not connect. We went in to talk with the owner she and her husband, we assume, told us we got what we paid for. My boyfriend and I just returned from a long weekend staying in a yurt. Let me start by saying this was such an incredible experience! We had never been to Buena Vista, but we only live a few hours away. The owner was polite and helpful right off the bat as we checked in. The yurt was quaint and comfortable for 2. We slept in a queen bed but they also had a set of bunk beds inside. Along with the beds were a bench, a mini refridgerater, a few chairs, and a space heater!! There was also a ceiling fan, lights and electric outlets. The campground was quiet on the Thursday that we arrived. Yes, we are not very far from the road, but I knew that going in and it didn't bother me! As the weekend went on the campground filled with happy families. There were great family friendly activities that the campground organized. We had very friendly neighbors and every one there seemed happy to be there! It felt like a great environment. The bathrooms were SPARKLING! seriously, so clean and fresh! The showers were not free, but are they ever?! I'd gladly pay $1.00 for a 6 minute shower in a facility that nice, considering I'm camping! I've read many of the reviews on here, and I'm a bit confused by the negative ones. I've worked in costumer service my entire life and I just want to say that All of these poor reviews that mention things like 'we didn't know we couldn't forage firewood' or 'the showers weren't free!' and 'we didn't know there was a cancellation fee'.... ALL of those things are listed on their website!! If people took their time and paid attention, there wouldn't be a need for such a poor review! I got everything and more that I expected based off of All the research and experience I've done/had. All and all it was great! The staff was always there when I needed something, walking around smiling and waving! The owner was a doll and when I told her how great of a time we had, we lit up like a light bulb! This grounds are sub par and very smelly trailer area. There is a woman who works there and is always on a golf cart who is extremely rude. She insulted a family members ability to communicate and was downright rude in any interaction we had with her. Extremely saddening and disappointing. I recommend another campground. read more

Great campground for when passing through Buena Vista. I thoroughly enjoyed the tent camping sites, as most of them where on a hill with a nice view. It was also nice being slightly removed from the RV's and trailers. They have 3 restrooms and showers (coined for the purpose of allowing people a chance to shower because of the limited showers). They also have a playground, sand volleyball court, swings and picnic tables. The office has a little store for any needs and they have an espresso machine for a morning or afternoon cafe. They don't have drip coffee but only espresso drinks. They are on the pricey side. read more

Super expensive for what they offer. We had a truck camper pulling a trailer with atv, so we requested a pull through. Almost 75 dollars is way more than any other rv place we ever stayed at. There is no pool, the Kids playground was closed off and wifi worked but slow. These people are thieves. We only stayed here because it was last minute and we noticed several other place nearby with open spaces. Learned our lesson to plan better. If you have a choice, don't pick this place. read more

We had such a wonderful experience at Arrowhead! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We camped up top at the tent sites, had a great view of the snow capped mountains and good fire pits. The restrooms were very clean, had coin operated showers and for the ladies an outlet so you can even dry your hair! They have everything available for purchase that you may have forgotten for your trip and they make the best coffee... Way better than Starbucks! After a rude experience with another local campground we decided to go to Arrowhead and couldn't have been happier! Defiantly a 5 star rating in our book and we will be back! read more

We stayed at Arrowhead Point for 7 nights with our two boys (8 and 10) in a 42' fifth wheel in August of 2015. I would say the positives are: We loved the location as the campground was far enough away from town to feel secluded, yet close enough to get into town and plenty close to Aspen, Vail, and Breckenridge. It was definitely quiet and very peaceful at night with a beautiful view of the mountains. The park is clean and well kept. The campground is located on a hill, which makes it scenic and away from the road which is nice. Want to give a special shout out to Ewen who was there to help us from the very beginning as we tried to park our RV after dark and was very friendly throughout our stay. Wifi was easy to use and very fast, we were impressed and so were our kids! Our space had 30-50 amp service, water, sewer and cable...all easy access and nicely organized. Negatives would be: Spaces were very tight and you are very close to your neighbor. We have 4 slide outs and an awning and we were not able to open our awning all the way as we had a tree blocking it in our tight space. The tightness of the campground didn't leave room for any vegetation or grass, so overall it was mostly gravel and felt dusty. Overall just a smaller campground which isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on what you are looking for, but if you have kids there isn't much of anything for them to do at the campground. Even their playground is very small, dated and not well kept. We didn't mind this too much as we kept busy traveling during the day and there was plenty to do elsewhere away from the campsite and when we were home the boys were able to enjoy the fast Wifi!! We cannot comment on bathroom/laundry facilities as we did not need to use them. Overall, we would recommend Arrowhead Point. read more

I will not be staying here again. Ever. First the good things. It's pretty clean overall and the views are great. I stayed in a deluxe cabin with a queen bed and bunk beds. The decor was nice and whimsical. Now on to why I would never stay there again. The woman who runs the place, she may be the owner, just is not nice to work with. They advertise they have a few dog kennels you can rent. Those look nice. However, when we asked to rent one for the day she was very put off by the whole thing. Thankfully it wasn't too hot out, we ended up keeping our dog in the car most of the time we were there and never did get to use the kennel. She then kept trying to charge us more for things than originally stated. We rented the pavilion and some extra campsites but she still wanted to charge people who came to eat dinner with us $5 per car which was never mentioned. It then get increased to $5 per person. Make sure if you're going to rent the pavilion to have people there get it all in writing including cost for people the park. The showers are also coin operated, so bring quarters. It'd be nice if they'd disclose all the various charges so you can make an informed decision. The mattresses in the cabins are those vinyl mattresses for hospitals, etc. I imagine they're easier to keep clean but they are horribly uncomfortable. The bunk beds are about half as wide as a twin, just be aware of that. The A/C in our cabin didn't seem to work well. There aren't very many bathrooms, and none particularly close to the deluxe cabins. It seems as if they turned one set into storage or something. There are plenty of RV parks and cabins in the Buena Vista area. Just do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. read more

We stayed one night at the yurt, which is the coolest thing ever - it's inspired by those large Mongolian tents, but actually it's a very luxurious cabin with electricity, fan, fridge, queen sized bed and a bunk bed. The bathrooms were also very clean and the shop well stocked. The real big plus for Arrowhead is the great service. We arrived very late around 9pm - even though the store close early on, the lady in charge actually waited for us to make sure we could find our yurt alright. I also left my glasses at the campsite, and the person in charge also mailed my glasses for me. The other great bonus was that we stayed during a clear night, and looking up to see the Milky Way and the galaxies of stars twinkling down at your was amazing. Thanks an awesome stay! read more

We came here for the first time this summer. Cathy the camp nazi was the nastiest women I have ever come in contact with. She is not welcoming and is very condescending. Here are a few reasons for one star: 1. This place is not kid friendly, Cathy yelled at our kids for being outside after dark. It was not quiet time. We asked her to talk with us if she had issues with our kids and we would take care of it. 2. She charged us an astronomical amount of money for a campsite that we could not use the third night. 3. Cathy was extremely nasty to us but allowed a group of people from Texas to blast music, use a spotlight and a generator until after midnight. 4. We had two kids go into the store to buy lattes and she told them to hurry up and get out. Buena vista is a beautiful place but we will never return to Arrowhead. It's very expensive to stay here and we expect exceptional customer service when paying these rates. read more

We stayed four nights in our RV at this resort. On the third night, a large 5th wheel pulled into the spot next to ours. These are not spacious sites. There were two families, four adults and about three children and a Doberman that set up camp. These people were extremely loud. We could hear every word that was said. We kept our windows closed but that did not help at all. The dog whined and barked a lot and someone tapped on something for three hours each night. It was like a hammer on a rock. Truly three hours. They were up well past the quiet hours and were at it again well before 8 a.m., outdoor speakers and all. We were sure that management would have known after the first night. After all, two of there employees were set up just across the drive. We left early on our final day. Could not wait to get out of there. Pretty much ruined our camping stay. DISAPPOINTED and WILL NOT BE BACK. Very LOUD at night til 2am. NOT KID FRIENDLY OR PET FRIENDLY. First time camping and after spending $400+ in supplies, I'm not happy. VERY LOUD AT NIGHT TIL 2am! If you need to wake up early with a good night sleep to do a 14'er or explore, this is NOT the place for you. I expected peace and quiet and nature with my fire in the background after 10PM. CAMPSITES TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. The other people were walking through our site. Pets welcomed but be careful, THERE ARE CACTUS all over our campsite. Good thing I had tweezers for my dog's paws. When complained to Cathy and Bob, they claimed they are managers but cannot refund my $52. If they aren't going to enforce the 10pm quiet hours, then why post it? I didn't mind the 1.75 shower for 7.5 minutes. I even don't care that our campsite wasn't leveled and there is a slope on our table and everything rolls downhill. Being near the highway meant at 3am, when the party ended, I heard the cars. It would be nice if they didn't put us right next to the party. Mariachi music and Macarena was going on Night. Cathy offered us a one night free stay in the future. I told her what would make me happy is if I just got the refund of $52. Her and her husband said they CANNOT do that. If $52 means that much to them, than keep it. I think I'll try another place for cheaper with better amenities. Pros: The showers and restrooms were very clean. Coffee was tasty in the morning. No long lines for showers. If you forget soap or shampoo, it's 75 cents for shampoo and 69 cents for soap. Laundry room on premise. $1.75 a wash. Change machine takes dollars and $5 bill. Cons: cactus everywhere, uneven campsite, no curfew enforcement so it's LOUD at night, highway right there so it doesn't feel like camping, and must buy firewood for $6 each or $15 for 3. But they probably won't enforce it so ok to bring your own I guess! Lol. No one will check. With firewood, it was a $67 a night. Wi fi charges, too! read more

On September 24th I was 99% done packing up my RV checking out. This was at 11:30am which was 30 minutes past checkout time. I was approached by a employee and told that I was late and checkout was at 11:00am and that he needed to clean the site by noon directed by the boss. I find this action when it was obvious that I was minutes from driving away to confront me and tell me I'm late and impeding his work was horrible customer service. This employee did drive by earlier and said nothing more than once. If you (the boss) directs the employees to be this strict about making sure they confront guests as they are leaving this leads to very poor customer service. An employee should gently remind a guest of the time and not tell them minutes before they are leaving that they are impeding their work. This was my first visit and last visit to this campground even though it was highly recommended to me over a year ago by a couple I stayed with in South Park CO last year. I hope you change your strictness and at least ask a guest why they are running over time or at least remind them of checkout time. FYI my dog had diarrhea all night long and needed to go out all night every hour I was exhausted. My mom was traveling with me and adds more time to pack up her stuff then I normally pack. Yes an excuse but I was still out at 11:30am which gave that employee a half an hour to clean one site that I left nothing. read more

Two big complaints...porta-potties up the hill where the tent sites are were almost full to the seat...gross! It costs to use the showers. We have never stayed at a campground that charges to use the showers. This little tidbit of info was never on the website nor was it mentioned during check in. So we will definitely look around for a different campground next time we are in the area. read more

So close to 5 stars. It's very far north of the "city" of Buena Vista, so it's not convenient to a lot of the attractions like the hot springs or many of the collegiate peak passes/trails. It was pleasantly far from the main highways, so no road noise. Also, no train noise like many campgrounds. It's very quiet at night. The campground was in decent condition. They closed the mini golf and filled in the pool, so those are no longer. Our cabin was spectacular. It was huge and so new it smelled like fresh cut wood. It had a new space heater and ceiling fan. There were outlets everywhere so even the person who slept in the loft could charge their phone or use their computer. The space heater kept it toasty warm all night. They have pay showers, but they are cheaper than most (starting at 50 cents). The facilities are clean and they had their own little coffee shop in the station! The staff was always super nice. The thing I have to negate a star for? No security patrol. There were unattended tweens and teens being ridiculously noisy (even screaming) after 9pm until other campers went out and shushed them. It was us the first night and some others the second. At all other campgrounds we have stayed at, they had someone patrolling in golf carts, especially after dark. If they fixed that, 5 stars. read more

It's 11:30 pm and those folks are still partying loudly. I thought Good Sam had higher standards. We left a message already on the campground number but no luck yet. Also beware that if you do have a change of plans and need to cancel for a refund, you can't unless it's two weeks ahead, which is pretty harsh especially since they could easily re-sell the site, it being high season on a weekend. I'm also not fond of such high prices or highway noise. Not worth it, we won't be back. Lots of other campgrounds around that I hope are better. read more

Late last summer my wife and I along with 2 other 40' RVs stayed about 5 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Verizon phone signal was week but other than that all was GREAT! There was so much to do in the area. The resort owners (Kathy/Joe) were quite friendly and helped us with local entertainment and things to do. I would definitely stay there again, in fact, I just booked another month this summer. Can't wait to get out of Texas and into Arrowhead Point!! The park is well kept, clean and quite comfortable. Joe is continually adding more amenities. No issues at all with hookups. We were in a 50 amp space. Nice views of the 14,000 foot peaks. read more

We arrived and immediately loved the staff in the office. Kathy was SO friendly and helpful. The facilities are well taken care of and the sites are pretty. Our tent didn't survive the winds so they upgraded us to an RV so we could be warm and cozy with our 2 year old twins. We were out walking one night and Kathy called us over to give us freshly made, warm, cookies. Who does that?! Amazing! We felt so welcomed and safe and really had a wonderful trip thanks to their hospitality. Definitely recommend this place and we will be back! read more

What an excellent summer getaway!!! The grounds are well maintained and consist of rustic cabins (our selection), camp & rv sites and yurts. The cabin was perfectly modest. We slept well and put the outdoor grill and firepit to good use. We used the shared bathrooms/showers near the office and they were emaculate; clean and even smelled nice. No wait either, though we visited in early June before the peak summer season. Aside from the facility itself, Kathy and team were so sweet and more accommodating than I could've imagined. My fiancé and I booked a last minute get away with our two dogs for 3 nights. We loved it so much we extended our stay for one night, hoping for more. Kathy went out of her way to help us. In fact, she boarded our dogs so we could enjoy some food and drink downtown one afternoon. They were happy when we returned and had been given plenty of water and shade while we were away. Icing on the cake---We made some new friends in the rv park, real good people. We plan to make this an annual trip. Yes, it was that wonderful! read more

This place is a gem!! We were lucky enough to stumble on it on our trip from Austin to Denver. We stayed in a small wooden cabin that was built by the Amish. It was very spacious and had 2 queen sized beds (one in a loft up a ladder) and 4 total twin beds. (2 bunk beds.) It was equipped with wifi, a small refrigerator, and a heater. It had a small porch, a picnic table, and a fire-pit outside. It was a perfect tiny house experience. The owner was very welcoming and showed us trail guides and where we could go to a local hot springs. My boyfriend accidentally left his ID in the cabin and the owner was kind enough to email us a picture of it so that we could still see music in Denver. I look forward to going back one day! read more

When I made reservations back in February 2018 I was not told that the site we wanted was premium (pull through, it was not premium compared to the other sites) nor did she tell me it's more on the weekends nor did she tell me that it costs 5.00 extra for an additional person. I don't mind paying a little extra for a pull through. It seemed like this place nickel and dime you for everything. When I asked Cathy why I was not given the true rates she said "it was not me". Well I looked at my reservation and it showed Cathy took my reservation. She quoted me $52.00 a nite. Well this place is not even worth the 68.00 I was charged. I would have looked for another place that was more reasonably priced. And that was with a Good Sam membership. Dirt, uneven spaces with weeds growing everywhere. Not well maintained at all. Everything looked tired and worn. She did not provide information about our site, ie cable, bathrooms. She just said to her helper "lead them to their site." We were kind of left to fend for ourselves. Compared to the other three places we stopped along the way, this place was a disappointment. Not that I will ever come this way again, I would not recommend this place because of the prices and the fact that I was not given a true price quote. That's just bad business. No grass, no shade trees yet, many have been planted but aren't taller than RV,no cable and not antenna reception. If you plan on leaving for other activities early in the day and wearing yourself out so as soon as your return to campground, then this is the place for you. But if you want to sit outside to eat, socialize, or stay inside to watch TV, then find another place. read more
