Issues: The seal was not applied properly and a lot of water leaked in the basement after we had a hard rain. J&J did assess the damage and paid for damages through their insurance. The lock on the handle also did not work but J&J did finally fix it. The second door we purchased - Therma Tru Fiber Classic Mahogany was for the front door. It was sold to us from J&J Windows with the intention that not much maintenance would be needed because it's fiberglass and not wood AND it had a 5-year warranty. This product has been ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE and J&J has NOT stood behind the product they sell. We have had issues with this door and door frame less than 1 year after it was installed. We notified them as soon as we noticed the issues and at that time, paint was peeling around the door frame and the door was already starting to fade. No way should it have faded this quickly. They sent a painter out MANY times to try and fix the door frame and it still looks terrible and paint is still peeling. They SAID they re-stained the door for us but they NEVER did and after checking their records again they discovered they never did re-stain the door. The picture of the house is what the door looked like 1 month after it was installed, which was very nice. The other images are after 1-2 years after it was installed.... TERRIBLE!!! We spent thousands of dollars ($$$$) and now J&J Window Sales (or even Therma Tru) are not willing to fix the door frame or the door! Their final email/comment to us was that they were sending us a door stain kit so we could do it ourselves or have someone do it for us, and they made it sound like they were doing us a favor because the kit usually costs $140. SERIOUSLY??? Do you think this is good customer service??? I am embarrassed that our front door looks so awful. The least J&J Window could have done was send someone over to re-stain the door and at least do something to fix the frame. They just gave up! We have been extremely patient through this process over the years. They said the door must receive a lot of sun.... No kidding... It's a front door!!!! THIS IS HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED CUSTOMERS! We will NEVER refer ANYONE to this company!

However, his constant lies and charging me for things I didn't receive speak to his character and would not be a company I'd want to work with. I should have posted this a long time ago but had a lot of other things going on and let time get away from me. But I'm still living with the aftermath as he never delivered the double track as promised. 1. Greg did not install the doors according to project requirements we discussed. He used a 1-rail track instead of a 2-rail. I now cannot open my pantry drawers because the doors won't open all the way and there is a large gap on the side of the door opening because the doors can't close properly. 2. Greg did not use the header board but charged me for it. 3. Greg refused to install the doors when I wanted him to, supposedly because other rooms nearby weren't painted yet. However, he caused damage at install requiring me to have to paint right around the doors anyway. I feel this was an excuse to delay the install. 4. Greg delivered the doors and required my son pay him without giving me any advance notice. In addition, payment was only required after install was completed. 5. Greg cancelled the morning of install, the day before I was hosting Thanksgiving and the day my contractor could be there for the install. Promised discount due to inconvenience, but never given. 6. One of Greg's guys damaged the ceiling while carrying the door to the pantry. 7. Greg did not hang the doors level - near the top of the door, the gap from the wall is about 2 ¼ inch. As it nears the floor, it's about a 3-inch gap. It is hung at a slant. 8. The glass panes on the door are not as expected. You can see through the glass, but I was told you would not be able to. 9. Greg installed the doors to where the gap that is caused from one door being behind the other is on the wrong side of the pantry. The gap should have been installed on the side you can't see. 10. Greg tried to overcharge me on final payment, in addition to NEVER deducting for header board and cancellation discount. 11. After things didn't turn out well, Greg became very rude, condescending and made me very uncomfortable. I felt I couldn't express my concerns safely. 12. After saying he'd order a 2-rail track (would take about a week to come in) and come back to fix the issues, Greg has never come back. It has been lie upon lie and I'm still left with doors that don't work correctly and are not installed properly. 13. Greg's excuse was that he didn't know about the pantry drawers. We didn't feel the need to discuss that as we asked for a double-track and should have gotten it. And, did he not see the pantry drawers when he came for the install and know it wouldn't work??? Not sure how a knowledgeable carpenter couldn't figure out the single track wouldn't work.

Extreme Caution! Owner Isaac Ovchinikov has defrauded me of my $22,982 down payment with no product…read moreordered and no work completed since signing a contract in March 2025. Isaac, the business owner sat with me at my kitchen table, looked me in eye as we set my purchase order and contract, then cashed my check down payment check, and never attempted to complete any work on my project or communicate a project timeline. Below is my official complaint to the Better Business Bureau, which was filed on October 1, 2025 with no response from Mr. Ovchinikov. Mr. Ovchinikov has not responded to any of my many attempts to contact him by telephone, text, or email since August 2025. At this time, I can only conclude that he has stolen my money, and I am pursuing legal action. I will also be reporting him to the State of Missouri Attorney General's office. There are multiple open lawsuits against Shield Siding and Mr. Ovchinikov on casenet, and I believe that I have been defrauded by a professional swindler. Do not trust this business or this owner. Better Business Bureau official complaint, October 1, 2025: "I signed an individual contract with Shield Siding on March 28, 2025 to have my windows and back door replaced. Per the business owner, Isaac Ovchinikov, this work was anticipated to occur in June-July 2025. My purchase price was $32,832, and I paid a 70% down payment via check for $22,982 at time of signing. This check was cashed on March 31, 2025. My home owner's association (HOA) also signed a contract around the same time to replace the siding on the units in our buildings. This work was also anticipated to be completed in June-July 2025. As of October 1, 2025 (today) no work has started on the siding project, or my individual windows project. I recently learned from other HOA members who have contacted the window supplier directly (Enerlux Windows, a different company from Shield Siding), that no window purchase orders have been placed by Shield Siding for my project, despite this company having cashed my 70% down payment six months ago. I have attempted to contact Isaac Ovchinikov over 10 times in the last month by email, text, and phone call, all without response. My last communication with him was via text on August 13, 2025, when he reported that my project delays were due to his company getting behind in production on a different project. There was no mention of un-attempted supply purchasing for my order at this time. I am seeking a cancellation of my contract and refund of my 70% down payment, as there have been no goods or services provided, and no meaningful communication in the six months since I signed my contract about if or when I can expect to have this work completed."

It took 4 to 5 different appointment so they can get the non-defective windows.
