The most recent of these is the 2025 exhibition Hokusai and Ukiyo-e: The Floating World (on view from May 31 to September 21). This immersive experience transports visitors to the lively and refined world of 17th-century Edo-period Japan. The exhibit vividly captures a time when Edo (present-day Tokyo) thrived as the cultural and economic heart of the nation, defined by its devotion to the arts, nature, and the pleasures of daily life. A highlight of the exhibition is the U.S. debut of the Museum Galleries - Chiossone Collection, featuring a remarkable 70-piece selection of ukiyo-e masterpieces. Among these are 53 original paintings and woodblock prints by renowned artists such as Hokusai and Hiroshige, alongside 17 beautifully crafted objects. Together, they offer a captivating window into Japan's "floating world." The MAC consistently excels in delivering these world-class exhibitions. Was finally able to find it by searching McAninch Arts Center (MAC). The exhibit is cool, loved the eki (train station) stamps for the passport you're given. I wasn't expecting much and it lived up to expectations. After experiencing it do I think it was worth the $27/per person admission? Not for me. But it's still cool and definitely worth a visit if you're an art enthusiast.

She's a master upcycler and finds the most amazing inspirations in even the everyday (see my uploaded pictures of art from shampoo and conditioner bottles.) I've seen her use vintage jewelry pieces to make new jewelry or nails hammered in just the right way to show an image. VERY CREATIVE I always see her work at Flight 112 or at Art in the Park. During its open days, the art, people, and overall atmosphere were truly impeccable. Many remarkable artists and memorable events were hosted there, leaving a lasting impression. After several lead staff members departed, however, the gallery began to decline. The owner who also operates the Oak Brook Surgical Center as a practicing surgeon ultimately shifted the model and now offers viewings by appointment only. They were Livingston Vincent Garrity paintings. Attached our two photos of the paintings. I paid Cheryl's husband right away and we drew up a contract and agreed on a 50-50 split . We stayed in contact and Cheryl's husband told me that the paintings were sold for 4000.00and he is waiting for a check or money transfer. This was/20/24 I stopped in right before Christmas to get paid and Cheryl's husband informed me they are still waiting for the money transfer , the paintings were shipped He assured me as soon as the funds were in his bank account, he would Zelle me the money . So I left for Florida. We kept in contact through tax and it was one excuse after another no money was sent. So I get back to Illinois early March 3/13/25 at this point I am calling him and texting him . Finally, he sends me $100. Well, I'm only 1900 short , so I continue calling them and nothing. Now we are getting heated , on 3/25 / 25 they send 500.00. So I called and no answer again., I text no answer, so at this point, I have an Attorney send them a letter. Now I get another 500 making me short 900 At this point, I am getting extremely angry and we start texting some more. Cheryl's husband calls me Avenatti the attorney that went after Donald J Trump. I'm sorry this is all uncalled for all over $2000 so now we can go to court. And I will expect proof of sale, for all I know they could've sold the paintings for $40,000. In my opinion, these two are the modern day Bonnie and Clyde. Definitely crooks so beware doing any business with them. We came to view the Hokusai & Ukiyo-E: The Floating World exhibit at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art…read moreat the College of DuPage. Ukiyo-e means "pictures of the floating world," and this art style features scenes from everyday 17th - 19th-century Japan, like entertainment, kabuki, geisha, etc. This style had an impact on the Impressionists like Van Gogh. This exhibition has the debut of the Chiossone Collection, 53 paintings and woodblock prints of ukiyo-e. Prior to this exhibit, the only ukiyo-e artwork that I would have been familiar with is the famous "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by Hokusai. But this exhibit "rides the wave," creating an immersive and multifaceted experience. Not only do you learn about other artists and their works, you can see original paintings and prints, walk-through an Edo-era street, visit an immersive manga/anime exhibit in "2D", make your own print, visit a garden and more. It was a little confusing how to enter the the historical exhibit (we weren't the only ones), but the info is presented in a very approachable way. That Hokusai, what a character -- He changed his name 30 times, He hated to clean so when his living quarters were messy -- he moved -- 93 times! The manga/anime exhibit was very fun -- with the 2D artwork panels created by the 2D restauranteurs. I was also impressed by the many events planned throughout DuPage county -- so many towns participating. The gift shop items were great! The only thing -- we came on a weekday and only ramen and hotdogs were available -- other items available on the weekend. In any case, I was quite impressed with the exhibit -- and I would recommend it for all ages.

This was the first time that we visited the Elmhurst Art Museum.  Our daughter was invited to…read morepreview the exhibition "Picasso: Fifty Years Later" before it opened to the public, Hubby and I were her guests.  The exhibition focuses more on the influence of Picasso fifty years after his death.  So, other than some nice prints from Picasso, there was artwork from his colleagues and contemporary artists as well.  Interestingly, some of the work from other artists might appear to be even more "Picassoesque" than Picasso's work in this exhibit.  All in all, it was a good show and professionally done.   We met the Executive Director John McKinnon as soon as we entered the museum, who was very friendly and professional, and enthusiastically gave us a brief introduction of the exhibition.  John was also the co-curator of the show.  Katie, the publicist of the museum, was also very friendly and welcoming.  She talked about how proud the artists must have been to be able to have artwork exhibited alongside Picasso's art, and that the Director John even improved the air system in order to meet the requirements of the lenders of the Picasso collection!  I like that both John and Katie are very passionate, enthusiastic, and professional about what they do!   The museum itself is rather small.  It's very clean with professional setup.  It would have been nice if the rest of the museum was opened to explore when we visited on the preview day.  However, nothing was opened except for the Picasso exhibit, even the small gift shop was closed.  There is a sculpture named Skycube in the museum courtyard that is worth visiting.  It is a great spot to take interesting selfie.  All in all, Elmhurst Art Museum provides a good opportunity for art museum-goers in the suburbs to visit without driving all the way to the city, and you don't need to worry about parking, as it provides ample free parking as well!
