Stopped for a quick bite before a movie. Really good and fresh. Fast service and very chill ambiance. Our server was so kind and knowledgeable about the food and the menu items. Hummus was really delicious. Gyros were packed with so many fresh yummy things. I am definitely going back to try more things. So much potential, but have a ways to go! Let me start on a positive--the chicken gyro was absolutely delicious. I loved how it was stuffed with fries and smothered in tzatziki. The chicken itself was flavorful and I ate the whole thing even though it was quite large. Therefore, from a taste and quality perspective I think the gyro was a saving grace for Art Gyros. We also ordered the hummus and it was tasty enough but...a part of me did wonder if it was homemade or if my tastebud memory was recognizing a sabra-esque taste. Nonetheless, it was served with far too few pita breads. Would recommend supplementing with some crudités, yum! The restaurant itself is so cute. It has prime real estate on Sunset Drive with a great outdoor seating area and a crisp and clean interior decor. Loved the wine wall! The bathroom needs a little work in the decor department. Also, when I used it, it looked like the staff left some supply cabinet open. Not a huge deal but again--so much potential! The service is why I gave Art Gyros 2 Stars. I went during lunch hours and therefore no one was there. Our order was taken by a gentleman and though he got us situated with our drinks and appetizers very quickly, he never came back to see if we wanted more Prosecco or needed anything at all. We observed that the chef in the kitchen was working hard to prepare dishes for the 5 of us and it seemed like she had no help. The gentleman spent the rest of the time we were there doing what appeared to be business stuff. We took it upon ourselves to remove all the extra plates from our table and put it on the bar area to make more space. At the end of it all when we got our check, it wasn't until after I already wrote in my 20% tip (which I always give regardless of service) that the we were informed it was already included. I love gyros so we came back as soon as we could. I ordered the gyro and my wife ordered chicken skewer platter, we had salad Zieke sauce and hummus. I was quite surprised to learn the meat in the gyro was pure lamb. I am used to eating the lamb and beef mixture at other restaurants.. but was surprisingly delicious. I also learned that they make everything fresh. . Service was fantastic and they were very nice. Please give them an opportunity. Stopped in for a bite with my 10-year-old after school today. Was surprised to see that a chicken gyro was nearly $20, but when I saw fries mentioned in the description, I gave it the benefit of the doubt thinking that maybe the fries are included as a side. When the plate arrived, it was simply a gyro with a few fries in it - and upon unwrapping to eat it, I discovered it was light on the chicken, too. At least it tasted decent enough. The most galling part was when the bill arrived. It included an additional charge for not having paid with cash, along with an automatic gratuity (I don't recall if it was 18% or 20%). The total bill for a single gyro on a plate was nearly $25. Even my kid, who opened the bill before I did, was shocked: "Daddy, just that was TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS!?" I'd expect a restaurant like this to exist on Lincoln Road where tourists are prime to be ripped off, not in the neighborhood where families and other locals are just looking for a good bite to eat. I'll never be back, and will be surprised if this place still exists in a year. read more

This is the second time I have eaten here. The Greek salad, gyro and stuffed peppers were fresh, tasty and filling. The place is super clean and you can either eat inside or al fresco. This is my favorite gyro spot but next time I am going to try the lamb chops. Hopefully third time will be delicious as well. read more

Don't come here! While at the South Miami fair, I ordered a Pizza from this place, beers and water and also decided to get a salad and a gyro from one the kiosk at the fair. My family and I were rudely asked by the owner to leave their tablet because we were consuming food from another place. Even thought we were also consuming a Pizza and drinks from his place. Bad business decision. They cannot sell beer to be consumed some place else, regardless of that, he kicked us out and told us to go seat some where else. Unlawful and inhumane. read more

Another over-priced, missed opportunity in South Miami. The place is cute, nice location. We sat outside, a quiet little courtyard area. I didn't go inside but could see in, and it looked simple, nice. Perhaps the name, Art Gyros, mislead me from the start: when I hear art, I think creative, eclectic and when I hear gyro, I think casual, reasonable fare and prices. In short, prices are too high for what they serve. Keep reading for details. Prices stood out immediately when looking over the menu, wine by the glass (very limited-1 option each, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Merlot...) $13-$17, a beer $8-$9. We ordered a few appetizer dishes and a couple main dishes. The humus ($10) was good but was served in a small bowl with sparsely scattered pita triangles on the plate. No drizzle of olive oil, no pinch of paprika or sprinkle of parsley, a dull colorless presentation, but...tasty. We also tried the ferges ($19) described as "pita bread, goat cheese, peppers, garlic, tomatoes, black pepper" which I had never heard of and asked the waiter to explain what it is. Hot? Cold? A salad? He just pointed back to the menu. Okayyyy! So, it was a kind-of goat cheese dip with julienned strips of peppers in it served in a small dish and also served with pita triangles ...think queso fundido @ $19. We then ordered the "Colorful Radicchio" ($23) described as "belgian endive, arugula, green apple, orange, almonds, chives, shaved parmesan." The salad had no (like none) radicchio, endive or arugula and instead a handful of spinach. Perhaps if they had given me the option of a different salad or told me they were out of all the lettuces mentioned, I'd be more forgiving, but they didn't. We ordered the octopus starter ($25), described as "octopus marinated with olive oil, lemon juice, parsley & black pepper." It was served in bite-sized chunks, cold with a tangy dressing. It was not what we expected, but tasty. And last, our friend ordered the "lamb pilaf" ($35) described as "homemade rice served with lamb broth and lamb chops." The plate was served with a large portion of rice with 2 very small lamb chops on top, think lamb lollipops. I guess the description does basically say it's rice served with...which I hadn't considered til now! Our friend felt the chops were overcooked / well-done and when ordering, the preferred temperature was not discussed. In the end, they did bring out a complimentary dessert, baklava, for the 5 of us to share...we don't know if all new customers receive it as a gesture of "hey, we're glad you're here," or if it was a consolation for the lamb dish, either way it was appreciated and enjoyed. A big sigh! The service and food do not justify their prices. I know..."it's Miami," but I'm over that as an excuse. Elevate the presentation, food and service or lower your prices...if you plan to be open in a year. read more

My wife and I wanted to support a local restaurant. This one opened two months ago. She and I each had a gyro (not a platter, just a gyro), we split a Greek salad, split a baklava, and each ordered a beer. With tax and tip, this came out to $126!! It wasn't until the next day that I realized they had built in the tip already, yet the bill suggested 18%, 20% or 22% gratuity. Did not mention extra gratuity. Waitress never mentioned it either.I've never seen tip already included for a party of two. Also, we were charged an additional $5 for using a credit card. I called the restaurant to speak to the manager the next day, but they gave me the run-around. read more

My family and I went to this place last night and enjoyed authentic mediterenian food. We ordered several appetizers, spinacho pita, fretesa, tzatziki sauce dish and all I can say is that all of them were outstanding. As a main course we had lamb gyro, chicken skewers. Everything was delicious. Bakllava in the end was the best ever I had. We will be back soon and definetely recomend this place to mediterenian food admirers. read more

Went for takeout. I have a thing about businesses when they nickel and dime me and this place did it on a grand scale. They added 18% service charge for a takeout order which is wrong. A tip is our decision and since there was no table service, it was out of order. If you need to overcharge people on a tip to pay your employees, than you should not be in business. It is not my responsibility to pay your employees when I am paying a fairly high price for a meal. THEN they also had a tip line on the signature receipt, like they wanted more. How about the people who do not look over their bill, and then give another tip? On top of this they charged me $2 to use a credit card. This all added up to a $10 upcharge for them to keep on a small takeout order. I am sure they will also write off the credit card charges on their income tax, so that is double dipping. I am not an ATM and will not be back, which is unfortunate as they have worked hard to build this restaurant. Change your policy and people will come back. Tipping is our choice and so is the amount. read more
