I just got my tattoo finished yesterday, my artist was Sang. The area that I had it done was very uncomfortable, and he was very patient with me, had me take multiple breaks. The studio is very clean and the vibe was relaxing. Met the owner as well, you can tell both him and Sang have a bond that goes beyond co-workers. I got my first tattoo done here after looking for an artist for a few years, I talked to Jose and we mad an appointment, I gave him the details of what I wanted. Then when the day finally came I asked if we would be able to do a different design in a different location on my body because I decided to get a tattoo for a pet that I had to put to sleep the next day, Jose was awesome! He sketched up the new tattoo for me and started. We finished half the tattoo and set a date to finish the next half. Jose is awesome and now that my tattoo is finished I get so many compliments. Great group of artist that, after spending a short time with, you can tell have been around the tattoo scene / shops / events you name it. These guys know there stuff, they are busy, have steady work and their schedules are full. If there is one other thing besides being able to draw you want to look for when getting a tattoo, its artist with experience. Sang was the artist that did some tattoo work for both my wife and I and we are both happy with it. We will be back for more work for him to do, no doubt. Dig the shops vibe, their shop rat Toni could probably do a little straightening up since he's not doing nothin, but the place is a real joint with steady biz and pumpin out clean work. I would say the best satisfaction overall for customers is that your getting a great tattoo and not paying for it like the artist just won Ink Master or Artist of the Year award or something. Alright. First off. Ive been coming to the shop for over 2 years. Jose does my tattoos, never had a problem. Never been over charged. Never been disrespected. So the dumb bitch with the horrible review is full of shit. There all friendly. Always will talk to you laugh and have a good time. I was there when sang first came to the shop. Anytime someone came in he was always nice , and I've over heard him give quotes. And there not stupid prices. Some shops charge a curtain amount . so 80 bucks is a fair price. If you don't like there prices then have it done somewhere els. Art never die will always be my tattoo shop until Jose closes the doors for good. 5 for artwork quality, 0 for customer service from Mike Torres. I love his work but he likes to reschedule and communicating with him other than contacting the shop, ie. if you know him personally, it becomes a bit more difficult. He's done two complete tattoos on me and one partially completed. The partial was the most recent piece he did, its missing a background and some details on the main image - decided not to get it done based on a recent conversation addressing my concerns with him without my receiving an apology and instead, a comment of "whoa Eric, calm down" : I addressed the issue of getting long delays (reschedules and lack of response) before being able to finish the piece. I also paid in full for the whole tattoo to be done, and I get frustrated with bad customer service; I decided I would find someone else to complete it, I even tipped. It almost feels like I paid, then I got delays because he wanted to take on other clients who will need to pay.This could be totally wrong, but that's where the customer's mind will wander. I also trained him at the gym for a bit before getting my first tattoo from him so it made me think if he categorized me under "friend" not necessarily "customer." Hoping this review is helpful, I am hoping that it will help Mike realize that he needs to be on-time, own his mistakes, and be more professional. His art is outstanding. He is a great person. His portfolio is full of amazing work and I love his specialty in portraits. Go to him, give him a chance. He just crossed this line with me and I won't be going back. So I was recommended here by a family member who had work done by Sang. Although I thought my nephew paid way too much for his tattoos I thought the work was good,So I decided to check out this place. Upon arrival I was greeted by sang but had no clue it was the guy my nephew used at the time. Right from the start he was not much of a friendly guy, stand offish almost disgusted by the sight of me. Oh did I mention to my readers that I'm a transexual. I did not feel that I had to disclose this information to sang, however I would have no problem letting people know exactly who and what I am because I'm very proud. However Sang to one look at me and treated me as if I had some contagious disease or some alien from out of space.. Never in my life have I felt this way. Yes I am a transexual, Yes I was a paying customer. Forget my gender and just treat me as a human being. So my horror story begins. I inquired about having my first tattoo on my face. Go big or go home ,I say. I wanted to get 3 stars done. Each representing three loved ones I had lost. He quoted me a ridiculous price. 80 bucks and claimed if I wanted knuckle tattoos it would be around 250...was he smoking crack? He did look a little high or strung out from the night before. I said let me just go with the star tats for now. Mind you he wasn't saying much or even communicating with me at this point. Bad customer service skills?Or was it just cause "I "in his eyes was a man with breasts. Then somehow I got talked out of just doing 2 stars because he said 3 stars would be too big. At this point i'm feeling like shit, feeling not welcomed, and said okay being he was the professional. We go back to his little area and he begins. Then all of a sudden his girlfriend comes back there and asks if she can sit in the chair right across from us while he does my tattoos. So the whole time she sat right across from us on her phone while he worked. How perfect for me a person with public anxiety. As he drilled away at my face im sure she was just snapping pics to tweet on her twat on instagram...how lovely. This place is very professional thus far. Then while he had me on my back with my face facing his girlfriend they continue to have conversations with eachother. She pointed that she liked my shoes and he mentioned out loudly "oh HIS running shoes'. and kept referring to me as male pronouns infront of me as if I wasn't there. That's just great. So about 20 minutes in he stops to tell me that he was going to make the smaller star a sunburst effect rather than color the whole thing in and if I wanted to color the big star in or just leave it outlined. As if he was trying to rush me out of there because his girlfriend was there to pick him up after work and my first tattoo was keeping him. I finally felt so bad I said Fck it and just do what he suggested so I could get the hell out of there as quickly as I could. My mother and niece were in the waiting room and witnessed this rude and unfair treatment. And as I left I had to stay strong just to keep from crying infront of them. I don't know about the other tattoo artists but I will only review and rate Sangs actions alone. I wish they had zero star options cause that is what He'd receive on yelp. What little work he had done in 20 minutes for 80 bucks was fairly decent but overpriced. And I do not recommend him to any human being out there who is different from what he perceives is normal for his reality. If you are gay, or lesbian or transgendered. Do Not go to this place or visit Sang because his customer service is terrible. His tattoo that he did on me was mediocre. Maybe his artwork was affected by the fact that he really didn't want to work on me let alone TOUCH me because of my gender. But all and all I will never come back to this place and neither will my family. I have been recommended the Fenix Tattoo shop in Seattle by another transexual friend of mine who said they are so friendly and have no problem with the gay community. Thanks alot sang, that day I lost a little hope in mankind and lost a lot of respect for the piece of shit that you are. Thanks for nothing. Unprofessional is an understatement. At first I had a great experience with Jose. I was in charge of gathering donations for a school auction & I decided to pop in & see if an artist was willing to donate something. Jose was very friendly & gave us a generous $200 Gift Certificate donation. Really nice guy! My husband & I were excited to bid on it & won. In the fall, after a move, I tried calling a quite few times & sent a FB message- zero response back. I happened to have to go in to Fed Way so I stopped by to see if I can book an appointment for my husband. I was able to book an appointment to discuss the design & another for the actual tattoo to get done in January. When my husband showed up for the design appointment, Jose was totally unprepared, like he had forgotten about it. My husband was kinda annoyed but no biggie. On the day of his appointment my husband showed up & no Jose. He waited for a little over 30 minutes, trying to reach him via email. Finally he got an email back from Jose saying he switched his appointment book & his appointment got lost in the shuffle, he apologized & said that he'll be in contact with him. My husband was pissed. Days later he never heard anything back from him. He went someplace else & told me to use the GC. After calling & emailing for awhile I was finally able to reach Jose- apparently he had my husband down for an appointment that week. WTF. Never bothered to contact him. Whatever. We booked an appointment for me. Unfortunately on the day of my appointment my son got sick & was throwing up. I sent numerous emails apologizing profusely hoping he would receive them. (Prior to appt, I had emailed what I wanted & never got a single response back.) He responded & said he understood. I called & emailed several times to reschedule until again stopping by the shop. Well, the tattoo gods were against me- I caught strep throat the day before & was contagious for another 24hrs after starting medication. Not much I could do unless I wanted to share it with other people. Called for about a week & finally was able to reschedule. He was going to squeeze me in before his move- I was super appreciative. I talked to Jose on a Thursday, appointment was on a Saturday. I got there a couple minutes early. I waited over an hour. I called. I emailed. I was trying to be patient since I had cancelled twice... but after an hour & 20 mins, I left. He never showed up. I never got a call. I never got an email. I get that this wasn't a "paying tattoo" (it was tax deductible for him) but I was ready to give a generous tip. And we were out of the money we paid for it at the auction. So, yeah, unprofessional is an understatement. Majorly disappointed. read more
