Wow! My son has been attending on and off this class for a little over 2 years and going on 3. He loves it and we love that he loves it. He started with Pastels, he's now onto watercolors and he's excited to go to oils. The reserving of classes is easy. The staff helps you out if you have questions. Shout out to Jelisa!!! (I hope I spelled that correctly). She's been so cool with my kids. The prices are fairly priced. The prices of the supplies are actually better than Amazon. Trust me I've looked. This place is not just for kids. I took some classes here too but unfortunately due to my schedule I had to stop. What's really great is that my son is really learning how create art from the basic foundations. For example, I didn't have extensive art classes, I was pretty much self taught so the way I do things is my way. So my kid sees me do something and says to me, "why don't you try this" and proceeds to show me something he was taught there. Immediately I'm like, "Dang, that would have made it easier." My point is, he's being taught and he's getting it! His artwork has definitely improved and he's super proud of his artwork and that's what's this is about. The classes are about 1-hour long and if you're a parent who likes to wait outside I highly recommend Oceano's on the corner. Get some food and a drink and it'll be your own weekly date. Both my daughters attend this location specifically. They live going to art class. It's not like a regular art class with glue and glitter. They're learning how to use soft pastels. My daughter was excited to attended the "FREE INTRODUCTION" art class and left disappointed, they said we have to wait to sign her up. She is 5 years old and I was advised to return in 6 months because "she is not ready"? However she did complete the assignment given in class. I don't understand how a child that just started drawing/art needs to wait 6 months to be taught how to draw/paint etc...? I have a question? Aren't art teachers suppose to teach art? My daughter took my granddaughter, who loves to draw, and will be 6 in a couple of months, to the free class that is offered. My daughter with great anticipation to register her daughter was told to wait about 1 year before registering her daughter... again aren't Art teachers suppose to teach art. My granddaughter asked her mom if she was going back and my daughter just told her "let's find another Art class" which she did and where I'm sure the teachers don't tell parents to wait to register their children.. it's so sad that business have to act like this. read more

Every week we know our 8 year old son will enter in to Larisse' art studio which exudes a calm atmosphere. Here, with the soft music playing, he learns much more than just how to draw. They really teach the students how to create masterpieces with the abilities they have. They teach them new skills, all while being incredibly encouraging and affirming. Mr. Brett and Ms. Jalissa are a great team, skilled at working with children, and walk along side each student as they create amazing art! This place was nice for a month . Then they said my son has to much energy, gets out his seat, and should wait until he gets older to do more classes.. He is in kindergarten ,and this is his very first art class.. I'll admit he's high energy.. but these "art teachers" do not have the patience or expertise to work with young children, and to show them that art comes with patience, and that it may take 2 or 3 sessions to complete one pastel drawing, so add texture or highlights/shading.. They told me my child doesn't sit and has trouble listening, and is a distracting to other students and they don't want to lose business.. what I see is folks who call themselves "art teachers", but lack the skills or simply want easy money and don't really want to do their job, even when put to the task of teaching a kindergartener not only how to draw art with pastels, but to teach him the basic procedures and patience that it takes to complete art with a systematic approach.. It's all good my son doesn't want to go here anymore. He says they draw real slow there.. probably so they can make each pastel drawing take 3 class sessions ,and each session costs 20 bucks, so each picture your child draws is 60$.. Also, gotta buy certain brand of pastels from them too 50$.. this place is close to home, and my kids love art, but I'll find a place with more compassion for the children.. These folks need to realize that the world is full of people/kids with different personalities.. and my child did not harm, threaten, disrespect, or be unsafe.. His art was really improving the 4 weeks he was there.. It just sucks that these folks don't have patience for "high energy kindergarten boys!" read more
