Great stress relief for the moms in our group! Love that we can bring our own snacks and beverages (and no corkage fees). There are many paintings on the wall so you can see what others have created. Dora was our instructor and she was great. She took her time showing us how to create our masterpieces! I loved how she reminded us to take a drink to help us relax and not stress over our work! Fun time meeting new people and at the end seeing how different everyone's artwork turned out! Some even took liberties and invented new animals....spotted hyena-giraffe (Sandra!)! Haha Parking is the only issue but if you arrive early you shouldn't have to spend too much time looking. Try parking in the neighborhoods behind the studio. Some parked in the Vons parking lot but I advise against it as there are signs you will be towed. Thanks for a great time Dora!! We all had a blast and we will be back!!

What an amazing and fun experience!…read more A group of friends and I had the best time painting together a couple weeks ago. Never in a million years would I have thought I would be able to paint a cherry blossom tree but low and behold my masterpiece is hanging out on my hallway wall. The instructor is super sweet and PATIENT! I've done these things before where they fly by the instructors or get irritated when you hold up the class and ask a lot of questions. This wasn't like that at all. Ann and her assistant Tom (power couple!) were amazing and super helpful. I will definitely be back for some more painting fun!

I booked Stephanie to do a paint party to celebrate a good friend's 60th birthday. Unfortunately on the day of the event there was a thunderstorm for about an hour during the day, approximately 2-3 hours prior to event time. Was there thunder and lightning, yes. Was there rain for a little bit of time, yes. Was there hail for a little bit, yes. Did all this stop prior to the event, YES. One of the gals who was coming to the event stated that the roads were safe to drive on, she was coming from close to the area that Stephanie was coming from. All this weather report is to lead to the fact that Stephanie cancelled the event due to fact that she didn't feel safe to drive to my place to conduct the painting party. Her decision to cancel was most definitely her prerogative. Where the negative review comes into play is that even though SHE made the decision to cancel, she would only refund 50% of the deposit I paid. I acknowledge that her booking policy is deposits are non-refundable. She stated that refunding 50% was more than she needed to do due to the circumstances. However, for most businesses deposits are in place for if the customer chooses to cancel. But apparently Stephanie's policy covers even if she chooses to cancel so the consumer is screwed out of money. How is that fair? This was to celebrate a friend's special birthday so rescheduling was not an option, can one reschedule turning 60? That would be nice, but not possible. Stephanie even went so far to toss an insult out that I cared more about a birthday party than I did her safety, insert eye roll emoji here. Drama much. All in all, like I started in the beginning pray for perfect weather otherwise she'll make the decision to cancel and keep your $$.

From the start, the paint party was purrrfectly prepared with the photos of our precious pooches set at easels with paints. The instructions were always easy to follow and if you weren't the most artistically blessed, Stephanie was right there to help you!! My friend and I honestly had the most amazing time, not only between the two of us, but with the other fellow pet lovers as well. Not to mention, our amazing instructor, Stephanie, & her lovely assistant/ daughter, had the most admirable mother daughter dynamic. The entire time, our group was joking around, enjoying food & drinks, and best of all, sharing adorable facts about our beloved fur babies. We will definitely be doing another one of these classes ASAP.

This place is GREAT. My kids were at ease with Juliana from the first moment we walked in, and they had a great time. They were not rushed, and anything they wanted to try, she brought it to them. We left with several pieces of art to hang in our gallery. And hello?! Painting with race cars?! My son's dream!!! There are so many treasures to look at, too- it was hard to not want one of all the beautiful hand-made items for sale. Juliana is also high-tech, had great music playing and was very easy to be around. We will be back, for sure!

This is…read moremy first time doing a paint night with YayMaker and I was super excited because the painting we had for Oct 4th looked beautiful. It was the "Rainbow Palm Tree". The paint night in particular was at the Hilton in Mission Valley. I'm not a fan of paying for parking especially when I'm already paying for other stuff on top of that unless it's a special occasion. This wasn't a special occasion for me, it was just an outing. So I parked in the street. Had I known that the people who parked in the self-parking had their parking covered, I would've parked there instead of in the street. Literally the instructor announced the parking situation at the end. I didn't see anything when signing up about it, but also I had the ticket sent to someone else's email because we were going together, so who knows, maybe they missed that email. But anyways we go inside and the lighting is soooo poor. I was confused as to how we were going to even see our colors blending, which we didn't. This resulted in me holding my phone for the whole two hours with the flashlight on in order to see my color scheme that was going on. It was honestly to the extent where you couldn't really even see what was going on in the front because of the poor lighting overall. Another reason I didn't like the experience was that there was toooo many people. I'm pretty sure it was around 50 people who attended, maybe even a bit more. With this many people you aren't able to get one-on-one time with the instructor which you are in other paint nights with diff companies that I've been to. With that many people there, it was also super squishy on the tables. I felt like I was a little tooooo close to my neighbors. This many people also led to not being able to see the canvas at the front well enough, since more people = more distance. You couldn't hear the instructor half the time with her microphone. And the paint night was literally in the lobby so it makes sense why you can't hear her. I'm not an artist, but the other paint nights I went to with other companies made me feel like one because of the pace that they go at and the one-on-one instruction between each step. The one thing I like about YayMaker is the raffle that they did. You pay $2 to enter a raffle to win a painting, and all proceeds go to an animal shelter in Oceanside. I came here to relax and destress but honestly walked out stressed and disappointed with how the whole paint night was set up.

(This should be enough info for Yaymaker to identify the instructor to give her credit). I cannot remember the instructor's name right now but she was really good. Of the 5 paint nights I have done (both from Yaymaker and another company), she was the only one to tell us to always leave the paint brushes in water when not in use). She gave us detailed step by step instructions and gave us some technique on strokes for the tree. She gave us the option of just doing a tree instead of a tree dress. She often said to raise our hands if we needed help or had questions. She was approachable and encouraging. She had cheerful holiday music and regular music playing in the background. The venue was great--large tables set up on two sides with the instructor and 2 paintings in the middle--one finished and one being painted. We had good elbow room too. (We also ate dinner at the hotel restaurant before hand so that was convenient). Parking was easy, plentiful, free, and just a few steps away. I will be coming back to this venue and to another Yaymaker event. I have done a total of 3 paint nights with Yaymaker.
