It's enormous -- the kind of enormous where you half-expect to find a lost civilization in the camping section. And somehow they have everything. Outdoor gear, bike shop, rentals for basically any activity you've ever considered trying drunk at a party, lift ticket discounts... if it involves fresh air and mild suffering, they've got you covered. Now let's talk about the Basementeers membership, because it deserves its own paragraph. Twenty-five dollars. Once. For life. That's not a typo. For the price of a mediocre cocktail, you get 10% off forever, plus occasional 20% Friends & Family discounts. I've made worse financial decisions in the same afternoon. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and seemingly immune to the judgment you'd deserve for asking "what's the difference between hiking and walking." Basically: go. Join. Buy things. Touch grass -- they sell gear for that too.

I like the program because the items don't end up in the landfill and someone else can use a perfectly good item. I used to love trading in and the credit was 25 to 30%, then it went to 20% then it went to 10% and now 5% for street items. I do understand camping gear is more than 5%, not much more. I would really hate to see that section go under and not be used the way it was intended, when the program was created. I imagine fewer people are bringing items when they only receive 5% on street items. I brought a street item in, which was a very nice new woman's backpack, with the tags, for $65 not including tax. I received $3.25 trade-in, that's 5%. The down grade is very disappointing. The profits could be shared, the store credit ends up going back into the store. Good luck, maintaining this section due to policies. Please reevaluate before it's too late, check for decline.

Do not expect to come shop in your cute clothes and browse through some neat racks. This is for the experienced thrifter who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. There is a side for clothing/linens/furniture and then another side for electronics/toys/housewares/etc. The emloyees do not mess around so don't give them attitude. There are posted prices but they are the ones who ring you up and a respectful and friendly attitude will help your cause! This place isn't for people looking for specific items, but is great if you're just looking to find some deals on random stuff. About every other time I go I find designer jeans in good condition and in my size (Sevens, Hudsons, Paige, true religions, etc) and have twice found nearly complete sets of nice dishes. Found a nearly full bottle of some Bumble and Bumble product and a half full bottle of Chanel No.5 (both 100% authentic). Great for holiday decorations, CDs, movies, board games (found multiple gently used and complete games), and other knick-knack type stuff. Do not get discouraged by the people (crackheads) there to buy things to resell at the swapmeet. If you are comfortable standing your ground and doing a lot of digging, this place can turn up a lot of gems. Your best plan of attack is to go with another person for an extra set of eyes.

So I was looking for a very specific dress that several stores in the Bay Area said they stocked on their website, but did not have them in-store. WCB was the only store I found that was willing to order a 'loaner dress' from the manufacturer for a small fee so I could try it on. Additionally, Elizabeth was on top of communication and rescheduled my appointment as soon as they realized the dress got delayed in transit. I had a great experience during my appointment with Reagan. She was attentive and always made sure that the dresses I tried on were 1) within my budget and 2) could be ordered to arrive in time for alterations before my wedding date. She let our party deliberate dresses without giving input unless we asked her, which was refreshing compared to my experiences at other stores where I felt pressured by stylists who sold dresses as if they were cars. While I appreciated her dress suggestions based off the description of what I was looking for, I ultimately fell in love with the loaner dress they ordered for me (I was under no obligation to purchase it!) and because it was the perfect size already, I was able to take it home the same day too. Overall, I highly recommend Wine Country Bride. They are totally worth the drive up to Sonoma County.
