This place makes my skin crawl. It's filthy, buggy, creepy and crawling with frantic people rummaging through mounds of smelly stuff like its their last day on earth. If you're looking for a diamond in the rough, you won't find it here. Clothing is cheap garbage in poor condition. TBH, I have been a long time thrift shopper even before it became the latest "it" thing to do! I have been subjected to the high pricing and zero discounts that is now GW best practices!? I have decided that GW has clearly lost sight of their vision to help those that are in need. Instead of helping those in need they are just in it for the greed. Bye bye mattress recommends them as taking mattresses for recycling. I assumed (wrongly) that that meant they took the average used mattress. They do not. If there is ANYthing wrong with the mattress they do not take it. I had called in the morning and left a message for the GW employee listed on the website to see if there was anything I should be aware of, but she never returned my call. All the material posted on the website indicated that this program was to keep mattresses out of landfills. If that is truly the intention, I would suggest they widen their parameters as to what they accept or explicitly list their parameters on their website so that those of us that are driving from 30 minutes away with a mattress strapped to a borrowed truck don't have to be turned around and forced to scramble to find another place to go before the alternatives close up shop for the day. read more

You have to be a total non-fussy, non-prissy, non-neat freak with a hecka a lot of patience to shop here. This is the place where all the Goodwill rejected items from their stores go. This was another stop on my Endless Birthday tour Everything is unsorted other than being placed on flat table top bins (clothing of all sizes, linens, tablecloths--in the same bins; with household items, knick knacks and toys in other bins. They also sell framed prints, DVD's, VHS tapes and furniture. Clothes sell for $2 a pound; linens sell for 25 cents to $1. I got a new pair of jeans for the hubby, two onesies for a baby friend; a Disney Grumpy hoodie; a cotton long sleeved shirt; a large toy school bus (for my Day of the Dead altar project); a pretty toss pillow with a removable cotton cover with irises on it; a small travel pillow with a flannel cover; a clean queen sized cotton sheet with a nice flower print; 4-5 flannel/fleece blankets, a baby quilt and more for $18 total. It is quite an experience with dozens of people plowing through items. Out of the 30 or 40 people there we only encountered one guy who looked a little "possessed" and had a "take no prisoners" look in his eyes--we avoided him. What adds to the "thrill of the chase" is that the friendly staff is constantly replenishing the inventory by wheeling in new bins of stuff. They make announcements for people to please clear the area as they exchange an "old" bin for a "new" one with "fresh" items. There must be a lot of regulars who know the routine unlike my friends and I who were walking around in dazed confusion. So if you like thrift stores AND adventure-this Outlet is made for you. What an eye opener this was. I was helping a friend of mine move from Santa Rosa. We took some items no longer needed to Goodwill on Yolanda. They also have a discount store at the same location. We went in to get some blankets and towels to wraps some items for the move, What we saw shocked us. They take the donations and use heavy equipment to drop these items on the tables. The breakable items we had so carefully wrapped will no doubt be broken when dropped from this equipment on to the table. I thought our items were going to be helping people in need. Not just contribute to landfill. when I talked to a Goodwill employee she told me all Goodwill stores do this. I am never donating to goodwill again. I encourage anyone who doesn't want to see their items broken do the same. read more

This Goodwill is not your average thrift shop. This is the last stop for the regular store rejects before they get donated from what I understand. Do not expect to come shop in your cute clothes and browse through some neat racks. This is for the experienced thrifter who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. There is a side for clothing/linens/furniture and then another side for electronics/toys/housewares/etc. The emloyees do not mess around so don't give them attitude. There are posted prices but they are the ones who ring you up and a respectful and friendly attitude will help your cause! This place isn't for people looking for specific items, but is great if you're just looking to find some deals on random stuff. About every other time I go I find designer jeans in good condition and in my size (Sevens, Hudsons, Paige, true religions, etc) and have twice found nearly complete sets of nice dishes. Found a nearly full bottle of some Bumble and Bumble product and a half full bottle of Chanel No.5 (both 100% authentic). Great for holiday decorations, CDs, movies, board games (found multiple gently used and complete games), and other knick-knack type stuff. Do not get discouraged by the people (crackheads) there to buy things to resell at the swapmeet. If you are comfortable standing your ground and doing a lot of digging, this place can turn up a lot of gems. Your best plan of attack is to go with another person for an extra set of eyes. read more

You may ask how on earth I can give a Goodwill 5 stars. How different can it be from any other goodwill. Well I'll tell you, this is not your normal Goodwill Industries. This is The Dig. We have heard tell of the dig for a couple years now from one of our friends originally from Sebastapol. She would talk about a magical land of coats and board games and books and clothes sold by weight. She showed us clothes and shoes all purchased at insanely low prices in her hometown. When we found ourselves in Sebastopol for pre-4th of July festivities, we knew we had to stop inside. It's almost like a Goodwill outlet than a normal goodwill. It's the headquarters where normal stores ship the things they haven't managed to sell. This means there are troughs of clothes with no organization whatsoever. You dig and hope you find something good. And of course, when clothes are $2 per pound, you will always find something good. Like a J Crew dress shirt, Banana Republic slacks, 3 vintage dresses, an art deco tank top, argyle sweater and brownie scout uniform for $8.50. That's right, I got all of that for $8.50. Other great finds by my friends were a vampire costume, a faux leopard coat and a Miss Scarlet Gone With the Wind dress. The only problem with The Dig is that it closes at 3:30 every day and it's a bit dirty inside. But other than that, I am a convert. read more

That was th weirdest thing that I have seen in my life!! They have you stand on one side of the isle and bring out these huge rolling tables/bins. This is NOT a thrift store, but it's definitely an experience. About every 30 minutes large table bins are rolled out with new 'stuff'. One side of the warehouse is clothing/linens and the other is household items of every variety. You are asked to clear one side of the room as new bins are refreshed and then given permission 'to walk'. Running customers are asked to leave, as are rude, grabbing customers. It's very competitive and some people are known to forget their basic social skills and manners to grab some cast off yard sale item. Clearly some folks make a living grabbing what they can and carting off to a flea market to resell. nothing wrong with that - more power to them but I can see that some of the regulars can get a bit pushy. Once the bins are thoroughly scoured, new ones are brought in. Lather, rinse, repeat. It's a dirty process so wear gloves (someone blew their nose in the clothing bin while I was there, no kidding!), maybe even a dust mask. Remember your manners. Get your best garage sale eagle eyes on and 'DIG' in. All this being said, I left with what I came for. I had two department store 100% cashmere sweaters, a Banana Republic 100% fine merino wool sweater, several cloth table napkins and 5 yards of new, adorable fabric, some bric-a-brack and all for $12. It took me almost 2 hours to 'score' these items, but the cashmere sweaters were worth it alone. I don't think that the clothing selection was nearly as good as the regular Goodwill thrift stores, so your time is probably better spent hanging out at one the Sonoma County Goodwills. Odds are you'll find something but it's a time-suck to just hang out and wait for new bins to arrive. My opinion is that much of the items in the bins are garage sale cast offs that are getting one last chance at life, but some items are culled from the Goodwill stores having not been sold. If you have the time to spend and want the chance experience of a great find then this is the place. Almost guaranteed you will find something you didn't know you needed. Of note; The staff was GREAT! Very friendly, but firm about the rules. Would I go back? Maybe but my time is better spent at their organized stores. read more

It's crazy what a difference a little distance makes. I've been to Goodwill Outlets in Indianapolis and would spend hours digging though the bins finding so many amazing items, but this one is certainly a disappointment. The space is small and the aisles are cramped making it difficult to browse. Hovering and slightly aggressively shoppers make me hesitate going in here with my 3yo daughter (I'm not hiring a babysitter so I can shop). I have found some decent things, but nothing to rave about: Turtle-Shaped Sandbox....4$ Vintage Fisher-Price wind-up TV Toy (with dog-chew marks?)....1$ (2) Kid's Books....1.80$ It might be worth to stop by at opening just to see what they have in the furniture section, but I don't think I'd do more here than walk past the bins and see if anything catches my eye. This place is not for the faint of heart! However, I am not faint of heart! It's not a normal thrift store with things sorted on racks by size and color, or even sort. It's all in bins and you have to dig through it! Think Macklemore's music video for thrift shop. You'll likely come across a lot of crap, maybe even some stuff that's pretty gross (a lot of people wear gloves) but you can also find a lot of treasures. I once paid $1.75 for a dress from Banana Republic that still had the tags for $200 because they price by weight and it was a very light formal cocktail dress. I've found tons of scores like that. Additionally, the staff has always been incredible kind and helpful. Every time I go to check out I receive genuine smiles and thanks for coming. Compared to other Goodwill Outlets this place is overpriced. 2.50/ lb for clothing as compared to $1.39/lb at other locations. The employees have all these rules-you can't take your shopping cart down the aisles, can't have kids under 13 on the sales floor, etc. One lady seemed to really enjoy yelling at everyone and treating customers like idiots. At one point it was announced that everybody had to move their carts against the RED wall & if you had a full cart you had to check out right away. Then another announcement that it was one cart per family & if you violated the rule you would be banned for a year. Then there was a dramatic announcement that a customer had lost her keys and wallet and "if you find them and leave with them I will call the police and have you arrested." Seriously? F this place. I'm not one of those people who is too prissy to dig around but I do have an issue with businesses that treat customers like some kind of annoying inconvenience. Tip to management: maybe you should invest in an intercom system so your employees don't have to scream & yell all the time. read more

I don't know how I ended up being here today but I'm glad I did. This little black hole of used clothing and bric a brak sucked 2 hours out of me (not including the one hour car trip each way). This place is definitely not for everyone. Yeah it's dirty, yeah it's kinda far away from the usual thrift stores, but if you know what you want, chances are you can find it here. Just be patient and thorough! This was my first time being to a thrift store outlet. I went on a Wednesday and got there around 1pm. Not crowded at all actually. This one was divided into two "areas". One towards the front is for bizzaro knick knacks and average craptastic stuff. The back area is for clothes. Everything is placed in these top loading bins and you basically just go for it. The workers will switch out bins after people have dug through them. There are some rules. One is listen to the workers. If they tell you to go to the clothes side...go to the clothes side. They need you out of the way so they can remove the bins and replace them with new ones. Second rule, don't take your shopping cart into the "aisles". You can grab a cart but park it along the wall next to the check out. Or you can ferry it between the knick knack section and the clothes section, but its probably just best to load it with some clothes and park it with everyone else's cart. You bring a cart into an aisle and a worker bee is up your ass in no time. That being said I have to say that the workers seemed a little coarse but they had "a heart of gold". The shoppers were a mixed lot..some crazy looking, some families, some youngsters...actually a nice group all in all. One lady over heard me telling hubby to look for a sweater and she found one for us! Unfortunately my husband wasn't listening to me or her and freaked out when she handed him a sweater, told him to try it on...lols. Clothes are $2 a pound! Found a great wool J Crew sweater- whoohoo! Also next time I go I'm bringing latex gloves. I swear one pile of clothes smelled like pee...a lot of pee. I know the clothes are supposedly from the stores so I don't know why they'd have pee on them but I'm pretty sure it was...gross. Told you this place isn't for everyone. My absolute favorite thrift store. I always find great thing there and I love that everything is sold by the pound. It's always fun digging through all the bins for unique items. Awesome staff, very friendly people. Must get there early to find the good stuff. I just wish they were open a little later. This place is unbeatable! I have to go there a couple of times a week. I sell items on ebay, and this has many items which are profitable. Where can you get real genuine UGG boots for (3) Three dollars? The deals are amazing, wear gloves, and a nice light purse. The parking is not the closest however you can always pull your car up to load. I tend to go there when i don't have a weak stomach. Some of the people really have strong odor, i dont want to know from where. I have always gone when i have extra time to kill, or around that side of town. Never go when you are in a hurry! The worst idea possible. I also tend to stick a whole bunch of everything in a box, and proceed to checkout. Many of the employees will ussually just charge by the size. This is not a Goodwil! I stopped in because the Goodwill in Healdsburg is so great thought I'd check this out. There are seriously shady people standing around in some kind of line to run and sort through bins of stuff. I walked in with my son and was told by toothless woman that I'd need to put my child in the cart "for safety" the cart looked like it had been through WWIII and not many things gross me out, but I was slightly concerned that my son would contract ebola from it. I've gone to this outlet twice and both times had to leave empty handed. This outlet is not for the squeamish. Goodwill gleans high end labels for their boutiques & auctions. They send their generic mall label clothing - Eddie Bauer, J Jill, Old Navy, Talbots, Ann Taylor, etc - to their stores. After much of that stuff gets sold off, the remaining clothing is shipped to their outlets. From what I could see the rejects are Walmart & K Mart style - cheap, very worn, stained and torn. If you're hoping to find a diamond in the piles, don't hold your breath. The stuff has been picked over pretty heavily. The place is filthy and very dusty. I discovered a big black spider crawling on the clothing. If buying clothing at cheap prices regardless of quality is your thing then you'll probably like this store. There are people that resell at flea markets and make some extra money that way. There's nothing wrong with doing that but if you're looking for good quality clothing at a very low price - save yourself the time, trouble, and expense - it's not worth it. read more

Fact: there are a ton of silly and potentially petty rules youll need to follow, and 1.79/lb for clothes is sadly not a deal in anyway, ESPECIALLY when you factor in the risks--This is my first time here i didnt know the rules but i didnt really pay attention to them. Despite reading reviews prior, both good and bad, I was not prepared for the level of disgust I have for this place now. It is interesting from a psychology presceptive, every employee was rude and condescending to whichever customer was closest, they sat on the side lines watching, yelling, mocking, and randomly ordering everyone that was digging though bins. The sight and sound of the customers frantically shuffling through "freshly stocked" huge shallow bins of old trinkets, toys and broken glass wearing dust masks and latex gloves while the employees loudly mocked them, I found the whole thing rather gortesque. It was eerie and disturbing, wrong on so many levels to me, as I believe people should not be treated like livestock, these employees where "dim folks" but heinous despite that. I'd go again to study the employees mentality, and write a paper on it, something akin to the college prison experiment, or the guantanomo bay observation, no doubt. I felt nervous that I was touching anything with bare hands and no dust mask, will go again to observe humans behaving poorly. read more

Fun and painless! I recycled multiple mattresses and box springs there, it took less than 5 minutes to unload and get a receipt! The employees were very grateful and helpful. They accept mattresses and resell them instead putting in the landfill, what an awesome idea. read more
