Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa - sunrise at Punta Engaño

    Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort & Spa

Late upload- A…read morefabulous place to stay...long term...a few days or day pass, your choice Due to the resorts popularity and the elite (famous artists/actors & families/business socialites) icons spending their mini stay in this resort, prices are extremely high. However, they do give amzing service to the most parts where needed. The lobby is a bustling line of patrons patiently awaiting to check in, a good 30 to 60 minutes on a busy day and perhaps longer on busier season and special holidays. They don't leave you unattended while waiting, a fresh juice and pastry is served while standing in line After checking in you can explore the massive hotel inside and out. There's a lot to see and check out. The rooms are great and modern, I mean I could get a phenomenal room at Cesar's Palace in Vegas for a cheaper price but the hospitality and service here is superb (i think that's what you're paying half the price of your stay!) There's an array of food to choose from. Asian cuisine, western cooking, a few Mediterranean dishes and of course the staple dishes of Cebu. The menu changes from breakfast to lunch and dinner. You will enjoy tasting dishes you have not tried before and the meal comes with your package. There's a list of restaurants and stores in the area to explore. You don't have to leave the resort at all. Anything you could possibly need during your stay is provided for. Sauna, massage, fitness and nature are at the tips of your fingers. Relax and enjoy your stay! A few photos to share with the best traveler uncle Arthur!

Today upon arriving at the saffron breakfast buffet in Cebu, they never took our drink order and I had to ask for a drink as I was almost finished with my meal...bad service. Later in the day, I was at the Azure restaurant and I asked for a drink menu. The server brought me a menu and said someone else will come to take your order. After 20 minutes no one came, I left...bad service. I am here for 3 more days. I will update if there are anymore blunders.

The Crimson Resort and Spa is a beautiful beachfront resort located in Mactan, Cebu, Philippines…read more This was the fourth resort I stayed at during my Philippines trip. While the drive to the resort is fairly simple and the surrounding landscape is plain, everything changes the moment you arrive. Once inside the property is exquisite. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted and offered a refreshing Cebu iced tea welcome drink. Check-in was quick and pleasant, and I was pleasantly surprised that my room was upgraded to a Deluxe Garden Room. The Deluxe Garden Room features a garden view, a large king size bed and a spacious open plan bathroom with a sunk-in tub and rain shower. The mini bar is complimentary on the first night and includes Cebu mango treats, orange and mango drinks and classic Filipino beer. There is also a mini coffee machine where one can make cappuccinos and mochas. A stay at the Crimson includes a complimentary breakfast buffet at their Saffron restaurant. I was amazed at the selection the buffet. Not only did they have an abundance of Filipino and Western dishes but there was also a congee and sushi bar. They pastry bar selection ranged from classic Filipino ensaymadas to native Cebu sticky rice. I also was impressed that they had fresh smoothies and juices along with a full coffee bar offering different specialty coffees. This hands down was the best breakfast buffet I experienced during my trip. Equally as impressive is the resort's pool area. Located right next to the beach, it offers breathtaking sunrise views and a serene atmosphere that is perfect for relaxing. One thing worth noting is that the resort rooms are quite far from the main lobby and restaurants, so guests will need to take the resort golf cart service. While walking is an option, it can be a bit of a trek. Thankfully, the golf carts are available 24 hours a day. Overall, I really enjoyed my start at Crimson Resort and Spa. The resort is beautiful, serene and peaceful. It is an ideal escape and perfect spot for a holiday vacation.

This was stop ONE. We were lucky enough to come through and found only a few other tourists present. (We expected a crowd, given it was a weekend.) It's also kinda cool to find local guides available giving us a thorough story regarding the significance of the entire area. I will admit that I felt the history going through me as I walked the grounds. Weird, I know... I've only heard or read about this place, and I found it amazing to finally find myself here! Oh, and those guides are not only incredibly knowledgeable, they were also willing to take pictures with as many cameras as you have. They did their job well, so fam made sure they were tipped well. We took our time and breathed all the experience in. One thing off the checklist...

Lapu Lapu Shrine and Magellan Shrine [LAPU-LAPU CITY, CEBU Philippines]…read more Anytime I get a chance to visit a landmark I am grateful for the opportunity. Mactan Shrine was just outside the Mactan Newport development. No admission fee and open to the public. It is a remembrance of the Battle of Mactan. As we were walking towards inside to view the monuments, out of nowhere was this stranger who started to give us a little history of what transpired in this actual location. The Battle of Mactan happened in 1521. The Mactan Shrine was established in 1969 as a national shrine. This was where Lapu-Lapu (Filipino warrior) killed Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan. The shrine was built on the spot where the battle took place. Every year, on April 27, they have a re-enactment festival of the historic battle and Filipino ring superstar Manny Pacquiao played the role once as chieftain Lapu-Lapu during a re-enactment of the Battle of Mactan in Cebu. We thanked the impromptu tour guide. Consequently he was also a good photographer LoL! We tipped him for his kind gesture. It was a cool short history lesson. Review #3334
