Artfit is a place that is beyond superb. Not only do they have great and very experienced instructors, but they become family. Every one is truly amazing! My son loves karate class and looks forward to it each time. He has made a positive transformation from when he first started. Even if you are curious I suggest you just try one class. I would not recommend taking classes with Olivia. Cheryl, is tolerable. And don't try to say I was never a student because there's no way I could be this specific had I not been. Olivia is extremely rude and condescending. She does NOT deserve to be put in a teaching position, which she used as a chance to gain authority over others in an environment where SHE had the upper hand. I got so sick and tired of watching her snap at people and treat them like crap for no good reason. Since her mother owns the studio, criticism towards Olivia is swept under the rug... Which explains WHY she is the way she is. She would never be hired at one of the more established studios in Houston or Dallas. In Lubbock, this is the only place to learn Pole and for a while, she was the only beginner instructor so people just tolerated her. No one dared complain because with her mother as the owner, complaining would just get you treated like shit. And don't get me started on the unsolicited diet & exercise advice they try to give students.. which resembles a severe eating disorder. i.e. very little to no carbs and they insist that this is what's best for everyone. Overall, Olivia and Cheryl take very authoritative stances when discussing anatomy and what they know of "dieting for athletes" & the body, despite having no legitimate credentials other than, being pole dancers for a while. Being someone who works in the medical field, I know this. The one time I tried to respectfully disagree I was talked down to. If you're stuck in Lubbock and this is all that's available, so be it. But I can assure you there are much more effective instructors who are also much kinder, more professional, AND come up with better choreo for their classes. read more

I have been attending Artfit off and on for almost 20 years! I first started with bellydance classes from Cheryl in my teens. I moved away for awhile and once back in Lubbock, life circumstances kept me from going. I was able to start back there again in 2016 taking bellydance from Cheryl again! Cheryl has decades of dance experience and you can see her passion for it through the way she teaches. I have also taken silks classes which I loved but my heart is for lyra! I've been taking Lyra from Olivia for about 5 years now and she is knowledgeable and fun. Her classes are the highlight of my week. I just recently started pole as well. My daughter just started kids beginner silks and is loving it. She is neurodivergent and her instructor Sharon is incredibly patient and kind to her. This is definitely a family studio and we love it here!! read more

I've been taking Lyra classes for a while now and I've been loving the support and great environment that the place has. When you walk in you just immediately get swept over with this "I am so glad I'm here" type of thing. I look forward to my (Sadly once a week) classes and time always goes by so fast from the amount of fun you're having! Oliva is one of the best people to be put in charge ever possible and I just knew that I would love her based off my first lesson with her. She's HILLARIOUS and knows how to give the perfect balance between support and discipline. She knows just how to motivate you and is easy to talk to. I've met people there in classes as well that I adore and get excited to see every time I walk in. Every time I walk in you can talk to everyone like they are people you've known for years and not worry about being judged. Everyone there knows exactly what they are doing and know how to show it to you as well. Overall I highly recommend coming here for anything they offer! "I really don't want to be here today" is not what I want to hear from an instructor. She was knowledgeable about pole, but lacked experience in teaching fitness. The warm up consisted of static leg stretches rather than a total body aerobic warm up. During which the instructor whined and complained that she wasn't in the mood to teach. She was so distracted talking about herself during the class, that she taught few tricks. Class was ended 10 minutes early because she was "over it". Also, the entire space is cluttered and filthy. It's easy to trip over a variety of exercise equipment, or personal belongings on the way from one studio to another, or on the way to the restroom which was also really dirty. read more

The most fun you will ever have while still exercising. These instructors are kind, fun, and very knowledgeable. I love learning new skills, and there are so many great and challenging classes to choose from. The instructors are patient, encouraging, and always put the safety of their students first. This is by far the ONLY place to go in Lubbock for any aerial, martial arts, or simply fitness training in general. The instructors there are extremely welcoming, encouraging and just a blast to learn from. I was nervous my first time on the silks but after being coached by these ladies I never want to get off them!!! I highly recommend this place if you're just looking for something new, something to keep in shape or just to have some fun!
