What an amazing art show…read more A friend who knows how much I love museums and art told me about Art Wynwood and Art Miami last year when we visited Florida last year. When I realized that we would be in South Florida the weekend of the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary, I knew that it would be a great place to explore. Held in the Palm Beach Convention Center, the Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary features almost one hundred galleries and art dealers from around the world. Interesting to see art galleries from Miami and Florida, Barcelona, London, Tel Aviv, Saint Paul de Vence, New York, Paris, Palo Alto, New Orleans and of course, Palm Beach. Masterworks Fine Art from Palo Alto, California, brought modern masters. Loved seeing lithographs from Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro. They also had pieces from Alex Katz and Roy Lichtenstein. Corridor Contemporary has galleries in Philadelphia and Tel Aviv. Interesting to see Israeli and international artists like Yigal Ozeri and Binsky. Love the bright and bold colors in Binsky's works. Fun also to see Alex Katz after seeing Katz at the Guggenheim earlier this year. Loved the whimsy at the Carousel Fine Art booth. Located in Saint-Tropez, Miami and Palm Beach, the colors were very evocative of a beautiful day enjoying sun and white sand. Interesting also to see so many mixed media pieces like a variation of Warhol's iconic Campbell's Soup, a Mona Lisa made with layers of fabric and a woman in a blue hat made of buttons. Loved the Carving through Color by 2Wild which incorporated paper into the piece. So many beautiful and interesting pieces. Would definitely recommend this art show in Palm Beach.

It opened in Nov 2018 and expected to close Spring 2019, so go check it out before they do something else with this space. It's a pop up art gallery and space for events hosted by Cultural Council. The Cultural Council has their main art building in the city of Lake Worth where they host a lot of art classes, events, local artists and international ones. At The Satellite they have a special exhibition called, "Reimage." It showcases solo artists that are listed in the website of Cultural Council. This pop up gallery is small but a neat space to take pictures and enjoy some good art and design. It's free to the public for visiting. The lecture series events they host are $10 for non members. The front of the gallery has information on special events of local organizations as well.

I remembered all of the cool shops on Lake Ave and while walking around I discovered Bali Importers. Bali Importers purchases directly from the artisans and manufacturers and ships in items from Indonesia to sell them in this spacious store. You can see pictures of the Bali artists on their website. In the store I saw clothing, beautiful fans, wood carvings, home decor, musical instruments, stickers, greeting cards, and sunglasses. They had large wooden spiders that make for one of a kind Halloween decorations. My favorite find was all of the colorful and inexpensive costume jewelry. Earring were $3 and bead bracelets were $5. I especially loved the colorful chakra adjustable bracelets. It was so fun to look through all of the beautiful gemstone jewelry. Now that I know about Bali Importers, I'll be back to shop for Christmas presents.

Perfectly displayed to show the unique features of each. I was familiar with a few, but most I had just heard about or seen photos of. I spent 2 hours here. Kept hoping they would fire up the popcorn machine & tap the keg. Ty the owner is a laid-back Jimmy Buffet type, one of those "I never 'worked' a day in my life" guys! Ragtops has been on this corner since 1980. His schedule is pretty awesome too:: The Museum is open Wednesday - Saturday. I think that car museums are pretty rare. Winthrop Rockefeller opened one in 1964 @ his estate on Mt. Petit Jean, Morrilton, AR. It has been a popular attraction for more than 50 years. I wish I had a special event on the horizon, I would book it @ Ragtops! One-of-a-kind Party Venue! Don't miss this! It will make you nostalgic to the point you'll be digging out the vinyls!
