I was in the area for the Día de Muertos festival and I am in the market for some unique birthday gifts for a friend. I remembered all of the cool shops on Lake Ave and while walking around I discovered Bali Importers. Bali Importers purchases directly from the artisans and manufacturers and ships in items from Indonesia to sell them in this spacious store. You can see pictures of the Bali artists on their website. In the store I saw clothing, beautiful fans, wood carvings, home decor, musical instruments, stickers, greeting cards, and sunglasses. They had large wooden spiders that make for one of a kind Halloween decorations. My favorite find was all of the colorful and inexpensive costume jewelry. Earring were $3 and bead bracelets were $5. I especially loved the colorful chakra adjustable bracelets. It was so fun to look through all of the beautiful gemstone jewelry. Now that I know about Bali Importers, I'll be back to shop for Christmas presents. read more

One of my favorite shops in Downtown Lake Worth. Lots of fun costume jewelry that doesn't cost a lot. Along the top of the counter are painted fish plaques that are about $10. Very nice, great option to buying expensive ones at arts festivals. Of course they are all handcrafted. There are beautiful clothing pieces made of natural fibers. I LOVE this store. It is like the only cute little reasonably priced gift shop I can think of in the area. Really awesome for getting jewelry that you're going to wear to the beach or something. Bought a cool necklace here once, it did eventually break, but I wasn't broken hearted and they still sell the same one so I could easily replace it. Also have lots of the bracelets and have bought henna paste, incense and incense oil. Everytime I'm there I overhear tourists shopping for things to bring back with them, so I guess it's also great for that. My only complaint is that 11 is kindof late to open on the weekend. There was one day around 10:45 I was waiting for them to open and I was suuuper pregnant and they just would not open. I ended up sitting at one of the outside booths at the bar next door until they finally would unlock the door. All in all, cool store, wish they opened at 10. read more

This is such a cute store! They have a lot of different kinds of things... home décor, outdoor décor, bracelets, stones. The prices are reasonable, shoot most things were a great price. I am just not sure there is a better this and that store filled with things you didn't know you needed than this! Our first time at Bali was about 3 years ago and we have been going back ever since. Location: It is in the heart of downtown lakeworth on Lake Ave. and there is usually street parking during their open hours. They close in the early evening before the crowds come in so, usually parking is no problem Goods: from jewelry to house decor they have you covered. My favorite finds are their silver earring sets for 2.95. They have so many designs and I have never had my ears turn green from wearing them. I also love the variety of tropical beaded bracelets available. We have loads of house decor from them mainly beach themed. It seems like every time we go in there there is something else we haven't seen and we usually end up getting it lol. Customer service: We have always had a pleasant experience with the staff here. They are always friendly and will help you before you can even ask. We wish all retail stores had this welcoming feel. They have a huge variety of funky beaded jewelry imported from you guessed....Bali. Necklaces, bracelets, rings, purses and more in just about every color! I got a matching necklace, bracelet and ring set for under $25 and if you smile and ask politely, they will even put it in a box with a nice bow to boot. Servcice has been iffy-the woman who works there seems a bit abrasive but the man who works there (could be the owner, not sure) is nice. My mother and I (a lake worth beach local) who are frequent visitors to the store were very mistreated by an employee and the owner! We were carrying larger items around the store and in effort to save space as the store was very busy (street painting festival) we asked the the front desk if we should hold our items at the front desk. The items were larger wall hangings that really didn't fit in a basket. The sales clerk yelled at us "no holding just put in the basket" when we arrived to the front of the line we kindly advised the clerk that her attitude was unwarranted. She became frustrated, walked out, and told the owner he would have to deal with us! The owner then told us that she would never be rude, that we had to leave and refused to sell us the items. This was completely uncalled for and disrespectful to a repeat customer that was just expressing kindly their dissatisfaction with their customer service! One of the BEST stores in Palm Beach County! This is a real hidden gem! The owner makes the trip to Bali several times a year and brings back the most fabulous hand made jewelry and other misc. items. The items are truly beautiful and each piece has it's own personality because someone in Bali makes each and every piece. There are no mass produced, machine made items here. The wonderful part is that everything is inexpensive!! You are buying truly unique items at such a low cost. It is impossible to go into this store and not come out with several things! They are now carrying some clothing and purses too. I visited this store on recently on a Saturday because my teenage niece and nephew were in town from New York and wanted to go there for some jewelry. We had purchased items there before and had a positive experience. Their prices were very reasonable, as well, so when the kids came back this time they wanted to go again. Because we work and the store closes at 7pm, it was difficult to get there on time. We'd tried to get there on an evening before and got there too late, so we went on a Saturday morning. We got there at 10:30 and saw that the note on the door said that it opened at 11am. We were disappointed but those were the hours, so it was what it was. Looking in we saw someone working in the store--we don't know if it was an employee or the owner. We waved to him to see if we could possibly get him to open a little earlier as we were on a tight schedule. This is a very small store in the downtown area. The man inside completely ignored us. Okay, not a problem, we figured we'd try to wait for a bit and hope that he would open the store a little earlier or at least come to the door. There were 5 in our group. Three kids and two adults. Each time we've been to this store we've spent a good amount. While we waited a couple came up and they stood around for a bit, also looking in the window, and waiting. We stepped aside as they continued looking in. Still no action from the person inside the store. The couple finally stepped away and we went back and continued looking in through the glass door. Another prospective customer came up. He waited for a while too, also looking to catch the employee's eye. We understood that the employee/person inside the store might be putting things together for the day. That's reasonable. However, completely ignoring the people at your door when you are a very small venue in a time when most businesses are feeling a massive crunch is not very smart business. Still we waited. It was now about a few minutes to 11 and we waved at him and he came over, barely cracked the door open and said very nastily, 'What do you want?' We tried explaining to him that the kids were here from New York and just wanted to buy some jewelry at which point he very rudely closed the door in our faces and said we were wasting his time because he had to get ready to open. To be frank, as stated above, we understand being on a schedule. We understand needing to prepare to open, what we don't understand or accept was his very nasty, aggressive and condescending attitude. Even the other customer who was there had a few choice words that he said to us about the employee's/or owner's behavior. I am writing this review because that individual's attitude and behavior was absolutely rude and unacceptable. We had waited for almost a half an hour. We were nice and polite. We never said anything rude or nasty. If he hadn't come over at all we probably would have ended up purchasing something even though he had ignored us through the window/door. However, his rudeness was so over the top--he pretty much slammed the door in my face in front of the kids and his tone was extremely nasty--that we decided we could not buy anything from him, and most likely will not purchase anything from the store in future. Such a disappointment from a store that had been associated with pleasant memories and which the kids had really looked forward to visiting. We decided to write this review in order to let the owner know, if he, the person inside the store, was not the owner, and also to inform other potential customers of the awful customer service (or absolute lack of customer service). They lost 8 customers that day because of the rude and dismissive attitude of their representative, and even worse they damaged the reputation of their store. Here's to hoping for change. (Unlike that very nasty man, the owner at Jewels by Marcelo, almost directly across the street, was very pleasant. Their jewelry is different, more antiques, etc., but thankfully so is the attitude.
