Staff was friendly at the check in counter, and I did not have to wait too long to get signed in. I had already spent 50 minutes on the phone for the preoperative interview. The preparation for my surgery didn't take too long either. The nursing staff was very friendly and professional. The Anestesia Doctor did his job, but he was not extremely personable. To him, I was just a number. However, my Doctor Karen Buhariwalla was amazing. She explained what would happen in the upcoming procedure, and made small talk to make me feel confident, and relaxed. After the surgery the dismissal process was easy. Noone wants to have anything to do with a hospital, but if I ever have to, I would chose this one.

Surgery is known for being over whelming and daunting...especially when managing all of the paperwork, processes etc. But Dr. Rodes' secret weapon is Carla Montgomery. I cannot say enough kind things about her. She is very patient and kind and extremely informative when managing upcoming surgeries. Her sweet demeanor and gentle voice keeps you calm and reassures you that everything will be okay in midst of the jitters and fears that typically come before an operation. She will hold your hand through the entire process and answer and any all questions you might have. She is ALWAYS available by phone and very quick to resolve any unforeseen issues. I've never been so prepared for a surgery in my life. If all of NHOI's staff were like Carla, the world would be a much better place! The first visit he sold me foot and ankle braces to help with my numbness in my feet. The second visit he sold me shoe inserts and a fungal ointment to treat my toes, even though he told me I did not have a fungus. The ointment he sold me, he charged me $35 and I found out I could get at Walmart for $8. I wanted a refund but he would not do it. I have never been to a doctor before that prescribed something and then had it in his office to sell it to you. Just doesn't feel right. I will not return and do not recommend him.

The problem is you have to go through something called "Upperline Health" to get to them. Village Podiatry doesn't have a direct phone line. So you call in, go through all the prompts, listen to classical music for 3 minutes, then you get hung up on or told "Nobody is answering the phone." I've been calling for 3 days now, trying to get through to Village Podiatry. How does this even happen in the modern era of medicine? So to recap, Village Podiatry, you're wonderful, but your answering service and parent company is 3rd world country level of experience.
