I started taking lessons about a month ago. My entire experience from the start has been professional and amazing. JR is wonderful at explaining options, levels, and classes. He is warm and friendly, just the front man you need for someone who might be intimidated to start dancing. Whenever you walk in, EVERYONE is smiling (you can tell even through the masks). My wife and I went on our honeymoon six months after our wedding day. I was in school and we had to put it off, but during that time she and I thought about what we wanted to be together. On a cruise ship in December heading home from Central America, my wife told me she wanted to learn to dance; salsa dancing in particular. She is classical musically trained and has study and worked with Spanish populations. For her birthday last year (which happens to be Valentines Day) I searched for local dance studios and Arthur Murray was the one I chose. We had our free lesson, about a month after they moved down here, and instantly fell in love. The location was great (a mile from our house), the studio was simple and beautiful, the staff (JR, Ann Marie, and Louis) is very friendly, kind, caring, and exciting, and the students were fun and enjoyable. It has been seven months and the studio, staff, and students have become our home and family. This is no exaggeration. Every week we look forward to attending private dance lessons, dance classes, or dance parties. We get excited to refine our skills, learn new things, and spend time dancing and talking with great friends. So what about the price? Well I will tell you this. I am a grad student (I spend the money on education) and my wife does grant writing and donor relations for non-profits (she makes the money, but not a whole lot). We have and plan to continue with Arthur Murray until we physically cannot (we move, lose use of our legs, etc.). All that to say, it has become one of our priorities in life because it brings so much life and joy to our lives. We ask for lessons for holidays and birthdays and take advantage of the deals, competitions, and extra opportunities. LOVE LOVE LOVE this team of professionals. JR and his team of dance instructors are just awesome. Super friendly and easy to work with. We started taking lessons just so we could dance a little at special events and vacations, who knew we would love it so much we kept going for over a year. Now with our own wedding right around the corner, we feel confident that our first dance will be amazing because now we have the skills needed to perform to our favorite song. I started at Arthur Murray dance studio just under a year ago. I walked in with no dance knowledge, a flagrant ignorance of rhythm and music, and a vague hope that I could walk out in 2-3 weeks and tear it up in whatever dance club I found myself in. Ten months later I still attend Arthur Murray and my dancing abilities have improved tremendously. While I was still stepping on people's feet three weeks after I started, Kaitie and Juan's patient teaching style allowed me to progress and see improvement nearly every week I went. There's several reasons I like Arthur Murray over other dance scenes in the area: 1) There are a LOT of group lessons, more than any other studio I could find in the area. The group lessons are really key to practice what you learn with your instructor in private lessons. 2.) I traveled for business a lot, and you can drop into any Arthur Murray studio in the world if you're a student at another. I loved being able to walk into a place I'd never been but knowing what to do because the material taught was the same. 3.) A proven method. Arthur Murray was the first franchised ballroom dance studio and it shows, the teaching methods work. This dance studio has been so much fun! My husband and I moved to the area a couple of months ago and we wanted to continue our dancing. JR was so welcoming on the phone so our first stop was Arthur Murray. After our introduction lesson, we signed up for 10 more. Anne Marie is a great teacher. She has managed to fix our broken triple swing and it is so much more comfortable and fun to dance now. The group classes and weekly parties are a great place to dance with other partners. At first I was nervous to dance with other people, thinking they might not be as forgiving of my mistakes. But everyone has been very welcoming and we quickly felt like part of the dance family. My boyfriend and I took a private dance lesson here and received a sampling of dances, including the rumba, foxtrot, waltz, tango, and swing. It was absolutely amazing!!
