I got the new customer unlimited trial for a month at $49, a great deal to test out the multitude of classes to fit your needs.

I was missing the feel of having a home studio, especially coming from a big city where I was mainly doing Pilates. I had never done barre in my life but after a few classes, I committed to an unlimited membership and it has been the best decision! The instructors are all so lovely and knowledgeable about what they teach. They go out of their way to encourage you and correct you so you're getting the best workout in. I genuinely enjoy my 6 am mornings with them, which is saying something bc I have NEVER in my life gotten up that early to do anything. Highly recommend this studio and am so appreciative of how above and beyond they do here.

They go out of their way to learn people's names and make you feel at home when you walk in the door. I like the open vibe and there's no judgement--everyone is here to have fun and workout! I'm pretty out of shape but I never felt self-conscious about my lack of balance or ability to hold a plank. The classes will whip you into shape! I went consistently for a month and noticed results very quickly. If you need to get into shape for a wedding or big event, go to barre classes everyday and you will notice that your muscles are toned. It's pretty remarkable how hard a workout can be using nothing but your body weight, and how great you feel after. The only reason why I stopped going here was even though I really enjoyed going to barre classes, I did want to try something new after months of nothing but barre. It's pretty pricey ($200 for unlimited monthly classes, they do run specials sometimes though) compared to the YMCA ($10 a month for a gym AND a wide variety of classes, not just barre). I like to mix-up my workouts. I know the business model is a nothing-but-barre studio, but variety is the spice of life!

I seems as if they keep the equipment on the floor just to make it seem full. The staff told me they are getting new equipment in a few weeks but what the heck am I supposed to do until then? The only real thing I see coming of use is maybe a class if I can (not the reason I joined), or the pool. And the pool is already booked out for classes and whatnot so the adult swim or family swim is only a half hour block...usually when I'm at work. I cancelled my membership on the spot and am mad at myself for wasting money on this sorry establishment.

I am partial to this location because it is the one I grew up with- I took gymnastics here. I'm pretty sure the gymnastics facility is exactly the same as it was 20+ years ago when I attended. The best part about this gym (now that I'm an adult) and location is the child watch- it is open 7 days a week. So, if you have kids, you can work out every day almost all day long (2 hour limit). M-F the child watch is open from 8-8, Saturdays from 8-1, and Sundays i think from 12:45-3:45. It seems like a lot of gyms in the area either don't offer childcare or if they do the hours are really limited. There are many different classes offered as well as fitness coaches/trainers if you want that. There are two cardio rooms, a small one with just a few machines and a larger one upstairs with maybe 10 treadmills, a handful of bikes and I think a couple of ellipticals. I typically come here a few days/week with my two littles, drop them off at the daycare, then go running through downtown Summerville (you are required to stay on the campus while you have your kids in the childcare unless you are going on a run in which case I think you just leave them with your cell phone # and then off you go) or I do strength training in the weight rooms. Like every gym this one gets busy from around 4-7 so you may have to fight a fellow 9-5er for a parking spot and then a machine. After 7 the teenagers usually come out for their daily bulking/mirror staring sesh. During the daytime you can almost always find a machine easily since the people that come are typically SAHMs and older people coming in for either pool time or the daytime fitness classes. During the weekdays this location is very popular with older people, they like to come hang out in the community room and chit chat and sometimes play ping pong. The social scene here for 55+ is pretty poppin. Happy sweating!
