He is a very gifted dancer, a patient teacher, and knows how to make his students feel special. When I first started I was afraid my two left feet would get in the way but with Elmar's instruction I feel graceful and elegant. I'm planning on getting my husband a gift certificate for his birthday so that he can take lessons with Isabelle so that he'll be able to keep up with me when we're out on the town. Everyone at the studio is always smiling and encouraging us students to have a good time. What a great group of people. I can't recommend them enough!

There were other beginners in a class of about 10 so that immediately made it less intimidating. Classes are $20 each and they have an unlimited option for between $100 & $115 per month. The salsa taught here is not ballroom, it's for salsa club dancing and it's taught on 2, as opposed to 1 for those who are familiar with dance terminology. There are beginner classes on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7 and 12 pm on Saturdays. I am told that one night they even go to a salsa club to test out moves. Overall it was a very warm and inviting experience. After teaching you the steps on your own they even conduct part of the class paired up which makes things interesting. If you're looking to learn how to dance salsa for fun or a different way to get some exercise and are in or close to the New Haven area, I would highly recommend checking out Rumberos.

The instructors are a lot of fun; they creatively teach the subtle technicalities that make a big difference. I've witnessed beginners transform to great salsa dancers from coming here. After classes, the best way to improve is to get out on the dance floor! The salsa scene in New Haven is great with a diverse crowd, not to mention friendly and smiling faces. Located in downtown, Middletown, CT, Vinnie's is home to a bunch of different alternative classes, including (but not limited to) Yoga, Belly dancing, swing, B-Boying, and the list does not stop there. This is the dance school that seems to caters to adults first, and then the children. The ages of folks taking these classes varies from 17 to 67 and probably beyond! The classes are also affordable. As a bboy, I stepped into a swing-dancing club night there and it was amazing - they treated me like one of their locals and when the beat was right, I was able to do my thing and they loved it. It was a great show of reciprocated respect and admiration for how we expressed ourselves. Anyway, I would take a look at Vinnie's, see their schedule and take a class or two!
