I always used to come to Arthur's for the coldest, best salad buffet around. You won't find that now. Everything is ordered at the counter and taken in the dining room. No more salad bar. Arthur's sandwiches are good, but I feel there are lots of other places with good sandwiches in the Quad cities too. Arthur's is pricey for what you get. But what really spoke to me was the baked potatoes with a huge variety of toppings! Next trip we'll have to try the ginormous waffle cone. Oh my goodness. I grew up with Arthur's, as a kid, it was my favorite, as an adult, not being near one, I appreciate it even more and truly miss it. The ingredients are always fresh, the bread it fresh and not heavy. The have a large variety of choices, and always have some salads to pick from and soups in the winter. They also have ice cream with a large variety of toppings. What a place! They have tons of seating, and the staff are accommodating and helpful. They get you in and out quickly so you can enjoy your selection. The prices are comprible to other places. There is no outside seating however not a problem finding seats in the open dining area. read more

We stopped here on our way though while travelling and were not disappointed. The sandwiches were delicious, as was the macaroni salad. The staff was friendly and efficient. The eating area was very well lit, yet cozy, and spotlessly clean. There were even fresh flowers on every table. The bathrooms were nice and clean. Wow absolutely the worst deli I have ever been too, to start I ordered mayo on my sandwich but i thought they forgot to put it on no biggie Ill just go ask for some , nope if I wanted mayo I had to pay 1.50 even though I ordered it on my sandwich. What a scam prices are high enough there without scamming customers. Definitely the best sandwich shop in the quad cities area - my go to is the "Work of Art" sandwich, it is a great portion size and was delicious. I was looking for a quick place for lunch and found this amazing deli. The staff were exceptionally friendly and courteous, they were very patient when we asked questions and made us feel welcome. The baked potato with Pedro's Chili, cheddar cheese and banana peppers. The potato was soft and was not over or under cooked. Perfect Potato. The chili was just a regular ground beef chili that had good flavor but was not spicy. Perfect for lunch. The hot turkey, bacon, and cheddar was excellent. The bread was soft and light. The turkey was good and the bacon was crumbles, an excellent masterpiece. The pasta salad was also amazing. The price is excellent and the atmosphere was perfect for a quick lunch. read more

Ordered a create your own salad. Paid $2.40 for chicken to be put on it. Received one package of bottled ranch dressing - not fresh dressing, a pet peeve. The amount of chicken, that we paid for was literally about 2 teaspoons. Was digging through the salad trying to even find some. Asked for another package of dressing and they charged us for an extra packet of dressing! In all honesty I had low expectations for a deli in the Quad Cities. I was pleasantly surprised! First off the prices can't be beat. There are about 10-12 sandwich options to choose from and 2 sizes (4' round or 7'). Then there are 10-12 baked potato options with a variety of toppings. For the sandwich you can get it either hot or cold, I personally prefer my food hot over cold. There are plenty of additions like shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, etc. Sour cream for the potato is $.08 extra FYI. The 4' round sandwich was only $3.79! The loaded back potato was close to $6 if I remember correctly. Food came out fast, as we were paying. We took it to go and the potato came in a closed container which I can very much appreciate as someone who has had food spill before in a car. Food was delish even after driving 20 minutes side-eye watching my friend eat hers. read more

Great little sandwich shop. Stumbled onto Arthur's just because it timed out well traveling thru. Nice & close to I-88. Doesn't look like much, but is unbelievably clean (my husband and I were shocked at how clean the bathrooms were even). Good sandwiches (had tuna salad, chicken/bacon/cheddar, & corned beef). Nice selection of fresh toppings, freshly-made sides, and pretty good desserts. Eli's turtle cheesecake was fresh & tasty. Peanut butter cup had a super hard shell though. Staff was much more friendly than at your run-of-the-mill chains and the cashier (Laine?) made us feel especially welcome. Totally reasonable prices, too. Would definitely hit this place again if we happen by again. Sandwich menu is same as pictured on Google. Please go and support this great small business. We haven't eaten indoors anywhere since COVID happened. We originally came in to grab sandwiches to go. Once we arrived, we noticed they were still following protocols. Tables were spread out. Booths were roped off. Employees were cleaning every inch of tables, chairs, and benches. I recently was unlucky enough to spend a few days in The Quad Cities for work, and the less said about it the better. But Arthur's Deli rocks. I visited two locations (this and another on the Iowa side, I believe) and even made a point to stop at their branch in Sterling / Rock Falls on my way back through. Great sandwiches, decent portions, plenty of extras available, nice people, and priced well below a lot of lower-end competition. The tuna salad was probably my favorite thing I tried there, but that's like asking me to pick my favorite ice cream flavor / sushi roll / craft beer. Anything on the menu is a wise choice. I'm not going to make it a habit of hitting up the weird river-towns of western Illinois regularly, but if there's a trip to Arthur's involved, it wouldn't be the worst thing. read more

I've been going to Arthur's sporadically for about 7 years now, and I typically have nothing but good words for the food and the employees. That was until recently I went and ordered some chicken noodle soup, that had a total of 2 noodles in the cup (yes I counted). I figured this was no big deal, it happens, and I went up to the counter to ask if they could replace it. They did, but in return I was treated very rudely when I was handed back the new soup, as well as being given a stare by another coworker. I also tried some of the Italian pasta salad which was fine but nothing I couldn't get anywhere else. I didn't care for the potato salad at all. The peanut butter cup cheesecake was good. I hated almost everything about living in the Quad Cities. One of the very few things that I do actually miss though, is Arthur's. My husband has been trying to recreate an Arthur's sandwich for me at home and it's pretty good... but nothing will ever compare. I love you Arthur's. I can only give them 4 stars out of 5 though, for two small reasons. 1. They are not open on Sundays. Seriously, what the hell? 2. The Rock Falls location only takes cash and local check, so don't try to pay with a debit or credit card. Who has cash on them anymore? Arthur's (the RI location, anyway) offers a wide variety of sandwiches, soups, and even quiche. They have a good-sized salad bar where everything always seems fresh. Customer-accessible beverages, so free refills on all fountain drinks. I pretty much always get the appropriately-titled "Work of Art" sandwich plus sometimes the salad bar so I can't comment on much of the menu, but I really don't know anyone who has eaten here and hasn't liked it. Highly recommended for sandwiches and beyond. The only strike I can think of is that their parking lot is kind of tough to get in / out of at certain times. The lot entrance / exit is in the middle of a good-sized hill with a stoplight at the bottom, and the line of cars that quickly appears when that light turns red can really get in the way and reduce visibility. read more

You'll see everyone eating here--old folks, college kids, families, construction workers on lunch break. My regular order: pizza sub, chips, and a Barq's root beer from the bottomless soda fountain. Another reviewer mentioned her attempt to recreate an Arthur's sub at home, and it's been the same fruitless experience for me. Try as I might, this very simple sandwich can only be done by the kids behind the counter. It's a nice location, too, looking out over the Rock River valley. Soup, pasta salads, salad bar, hot and cold sandwiches, desserts, chips and ice cream with all the toppings! You walk in (usually to a line), grab your tray and order like you're in elementary school again except with teenage kids serving you and a much better selection!
