We had a wonderful time doing the pottery class while in town. I had always wanted to do one. However I've been disappointed with the lack of follow-through. We were told we would get a call in two weeks when our pieces were ready for glaze and then pick up or ship and now three weeks later no call. I have left a voicemail, sent an email and follow-up email and days and day go by with no one getting back to me. It's unprofessional to tell customers you will get in touch and then don't and honestly completely opposite than the wonderful vibe the studio gave when we were there. Your message service says someone will reply within 24 hours and that hasn't been the case I sent an email a week ago. So if you book just know you may never see your pieces again, because they don't follow up with you. I honestly would like my money back, if you've lost my pieces or don't plan on reaching out. The experience itself was great, but I'm bummed I may never see the pieces I made. read more

But Annika is what makes the experience so wonderful. She's patient, funny and has great taste in music. Took the one hour, create 2 pieces class (choice of cup or bowl) using techniques of pinch pot and wheel, and it was so much fun! Friendly staff. Pace was accommodating and plenty of options to personalize your creation. Chose to return in 2 weeks to glaze but you can have them glaze it too if u prefer. Arrived for the 11 am Sunday class and was pretty lucky with parking. I imagine an evening class might experience more parking challenges as the days get warmer and longer. read more

For seven months I have been trying to make a reservation for a class. and it never works for a time that is good for me, because I bought a Groupon (as it turns out the coupon is more expensive than the class online)! the woman on the phone last time was very arrogant and disrespectful, pointing out that I have a Groupon. so classes are only at specific times. now I have to have a problem with Groupon to cancel three classes! My son took pottery making classes here and came home with some beautiful pieces that he was very happy with. This was the first studio that allowed him to use the pottery wheel, and he loves it. The studio is super cute and located just a block or so from the heart of downtown Laguna. The staff is friendly and welcoming. I'm very happy with the experience he's had at this art studio. Came in for a one hour class. It went by pretty fast cause of how fun it was. I was surprised by how small the class actually was but appreciated it more so your instructor can engage with you more and vis versa. I was excited for my husband and I to take a one hour pottery class here. The place is nice, spacious. It was us and another couple at an evening class where we can create a piece on a wheel and one by hand. Instructor was friendly and helpful on the wheel but I felt very rushed. I didn't get to create anything I had in mind before I took the class. The amount of clay provided was so little. Also little instruction for a beginner on how to create a piece by hand. I wanted a fun "experience" gift for my teen daughter for Christmas. I booked 2 spots at ARTime Barro at their Laguna Beach location for their beginner class. We got to make 2 pieces, one pinch pot by hand and one item on the pottery wheel. It was a small group of 5 people and the instructor is just amazing. She explains things so well and is so patient and encouraging. I'm not very artistic and it was so neat to create the pottery. They fire them for you and then you have the choice of going back to do the glazing ourselves or having them do it. We are going back to do it ourselves and it will be another fun mother daughter experience! My daughter is wanting to take more classes. The environment was so welcoming. A beautiful hole-in-the-wall studio that all locals and tourists will love!! The entire studio has a rustic feel to it but is clean, well organized, and spacious. It truly captures the heart of Laguna Beach's prided identity as the art district by the sea! I came across ARTime by chance while taking a walk, and stopped by to see their finished pieces by local artists. They were all just so beautiful, and if I had carried cash on me I would've grabbed a few! I managed to catch a few people who were taking a class while I was there and they sounded like they were having a wonderful time and had a supportive instructor. I couldn't help but feel a little jealous of them! Although I didn't purchase anything or take a class this time around, I will always have ARTime noted for the near future when I want to take a ceramics course! read more

It started off as a one time class on the wheel to classes every weekend, multiple times, from April-August. Anika and Kyle were incredible potters I got to learn with and helped with every step of the process so I didn't feel discouraged. I definitely had my bad days, and failed at some pieces but Anika and Kyle did an amazing job at being hands-on and pushing me to keep trying. Every potter has their own little techniques that they add onto the basic skills you will learn, and being able to learn the different options I had while making my pieces from both of their teaching styles helped me find my own. The first few classes I worked on coning, centering, and pulling clay appropriately which was definitely trial and error. After the first classes I gradually went from making a small cylinder to a successful matcha bowl then a couple months later to a flower vase with wiggly handles and in the fifth month, a vase with a chain and a donut vase (not pictured). The speed at which I learned also has to do with the fact that I also went as many days out of the weekend as I could every week in those 5 months. Consistency is key, even when it gets tough. I have weak wrists which worried me as I took on more and more pounds of clay but the consistency of working with clay, made me physically stronger and more capable every time. Going so often, and getting to know the studio, as well as Anika, Kyle, Lucy, and Nicole (the owner), made it so much more fun and comfortable to have built a closer relationship to all. Expect the first set of classes to focus on building proper skill, SO IMPORTANT because getting this right will make everything else easier or else you'll be stuck at square one. You'll be able to take home the first few pieces too, along with every piece you make, so you can compare to your later ones to see how far you've progressed, and I myself was very shocked. Don't expect to be making big pieces off the bat because it takes so much time and patience and if you're anything like a perfectionist like me, pottery, especially being able to genuinely learn in a studio like here, you will learn to be comfortable with letting things go and trying again. One of my favorite memories was getting to a point of consistency where I found a cowboy hat tray online and came into class with Kyle and asked if we can try to make it, and showed him how it could be done, and we gave it go together and it is now one of my favorite pieces I love to make and gift. If it wasn't for a busy schedule being a therapist, I would've kept going but have to take a break for a bit and I hope more of you will go and learn to love this studio and everyone there. SO MUCH FUN! I'm so happy my mom and I got to do this, it was a one hour wheel throwing class where we each got to make a planter and a plate. Our instructor Kyle was so awesome and a great help. All of our planters and plates were different which makes it so much more fun to be able to do pieces your own way. SO WORTH IT! Plus its a beautiful location so close to the beach. read more

I came here with my friend the other morning and it was so much fun! Our instructor Kyle was so helpful and kind, as well as experienced. He gave everyone super great tips and kept us all chatting and laughing with each other. We got to make two pots each, one pinch pot (on the table) and another on the wheel.
