It's funny that I lived my whole life in Schaumburg but had never really visited until recently. I was on my way to a friend's BBQ and Sportman's was super convenient. I like that I can go there, ask the friendly owners where to find what I'm looking for, get it and get out in under 5 minutes. This is my go-to-pre-party-spot when in the burbs now! The owners and staff are very helpful and friendly and are always willing to find and order your favorite libation if they do not carry it. Yes, I could drive the extra mile and go to the big supermarket and save an extra couple of dollars, but this place gives you the friendliness and service only a small neighborhood business can provide.

When I got to the register, the prices were different than what was advertised on the shelf. I pointed this out to the owner/manager and he said that these were the old prices and I told him that he could not do that and that he needed to change the prices , or honor the prices that were on the shelf. He also tried to tell me that that was because of taxes. I told him I did not care for the way he was doing his business and left.

The word is that ownership ran into difficulties from the village which delayed things significantly. The space was formerly operated by a pet groomer who has since relocated to a larger space up on Higgins. The strip mall itself was given a huge face lift in the last year, with a resurfaced parking lot and updated facades for all the buildings. This was obviously an attempt to attract new tenants, which seems to be paying off. Being the nosy person that I am, I just had to poke my head in on the day they finally opened their doors for business. They completely remodeled the inside, and the beer coolers, wine racks, and shelving all looked brand new. The gentleman behind that counter, who I also suspect is the owner, was a really nice guy who I got to chat with briefly. While I guess the neighborhood did not really "need" a liquor store, and there is a 7-11 literally right next door, this does fill void for me personally for a couple of reasons. The 7-11 next door is pretty much useless to me these days for alcohol purchases. I am over the phase in my life where I am buying 30 racks of Milwaukee's Best and cheap bottles of rot gut, which is about all that can be found there. This new establishment is quite well stocked in all of the typical top shelf brands you would expect, along with various single malt scotches and other ultra premiums. This saves me the trouble of having to head to Mariano's if I have people over and need some provisions. They also have a huge walk in beer cooler with a robust selection to cater to the IPA and craft beer crowd. I wish there was a little more variety for my personal favorite, stouts, but that is just me being picky. Prices here are a good 15-20% less than you would pay at Mariano's by my estimation, and since it is so close to my apartment, I have little doubt that they will earn my businesses for the foreseeable future.

This Review is on Google and Yelp - Store does not honor online discount codes that are CLEARLY…read morestated as being valid in store The store employee that was behind the counter on the morning of 7/28/2026, refused to honor a "10OFF30" coupon code, that was on the website, and clearly marked as "In Store and online" and, also good for 36 days after downloading, which, I was there 3 days after I downloaded it. I wanted to purchase a $150 bottle of Blanton's Bourbon, and at first, once I showed him the coupon / discount code online, he said "it was a website glitch", to which I advised him, that, the glitch is in the store, and not on the website. I clearly showed him where it said "IN STORE" , and then, he made a phone call and spoke to someone, and after that discussion, he still refused to honor the discount, and, told me he wouldn't sell me the product. I advised him that he lost a customer, and, he also lost whatever markup there was on that sale, and, not a lot of those get sold either, proof being the amount of dust there was on the top of the gift box when he took it down from the behind the counter shelf. My advice is, find another liquor retailer who knows how to honor chain discounts and respect a customer. That code is also still on the top of the webpage ( For New Customers, which I could have been one)
