I am a real fan of Binny's Beverage Depot. While they have many locations, my experience is mainly with their Schaumburg location. First, you can't beat their selection. While they don't have everything, they have such a broad variety it doesn't matter. I don't go as often as I used to - mainly because as I've gotten older, I've slowed down my alcohol consumption. But when I do go, I am always happy with the experience. In addition to their broad selection, their prices are good. Mostly, their employees are knowledgeable about the products they carry. It never ceases to amaze me if I want to try a new whiskey or am looking for a bottle of wine, there is someone there who is an expert and can help guide you based on your preferences. A number of other big box liquor stores are in the area, and while I do go to others periodically, Binney's is by far my favorite. read more

I did not realize the sheer magnitude of this place when I was looking for a nearby establishment to grab alcohol. This place is huge with a ton of selections. There's of course snacks, mixers and accoutrements for drink garnishes. I was able to pick up everything I needed for bloody Marys without having to stop at a grocery store--however I did not enjoy the pickle option they had. Who puts cloves in their pickles? My brother picked up a popular Polish beer in bottles for his FiL, and I got some Belgian trappist beer, that I've been meaning to get. This is a great Binnys with lots of space and lots of alcohol and they have a humidor for cigars. Staff are very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. There I so much variety from local US makers to international brands. Plenty of parking in the lot and close to all major stores when you need to do shopping runs. Lots of fun to shop here and bring alcohol and snacks and cigars home. And they even have cards (see pic of wet cat). They have a Binnys app and they also have an online site that tells you what's in their inventory in each store so you don't have to run around. read more

Browsing Binny's is fun on a Friday night and you can often get samples to try here. But some of my favorites mostly seem to be out of stock or just not available here. I.e. Vanilla Bitch Slap by Pig Minds (or really anything by Pig Minds) is available on a rare basis. Guess I need to drive to Machesney Park to get my fave! I like to shop here around the holidays to find great gifts with the gift bag, matching glasses and gift sets, etc. The aisle with mixers and juices is great. I can always find what I need there for making unique mixed drinks and martinis. Like others have shared, the staff here isn't always the friendliest or polite, but they do seem very knowledgable when I've had questions. I also appreciate as the that if I ask for something and they have it, they will walk me over to it instead of just pointing across the store or telling me the vicinity. (A pet peeve of mine)! Three reasons why this Binny's in Schaumburg has earned my business: 1. Fantastic selection of beer, wine, liquor, cigars, mixers, and barware. 2. Incredibly knowledgeable employees dedicated to each section of the store. One day I had a question about a specific chianti. The employee I spoke with explained that they were currently out of that particular bottle, but that the particular region produced great wine in 2018, blah, blah, blah. First time at Binny's. I was looking for items we cannot find in Omaha. They are a large store with good selection. I left with a nice bottle of Fortaleza tequila. I was unable to find Buffalo Trace whiskey (which is hard to find) or bud light Clamato in a 12 pack. Stopped in Schaumburg today during an errand run to pick up some Ten Ninety beer. -My former boss left my employer and started his own beer company. He makes these really unique, craft brews. They are delicious, so I support him and buy them whenever I can. They are sold in some bars, on tap, and also now bottled and sold at Binny's. I was super excited to see his whole "line" of beers sold -they were sold out of the very cool Imperial Porter, that has a spicy kick to it. But that was OK -I've tried that one many times. I was specifically looking for a new, Christmas brew called Milk and Cookies. It is a milk stout with hints of ginger. I found it and bought a few bottles as Christmas gifts. The staff was very cool (always willing to help educate) and check out was a breeze. Definitely a go-to place, especially for gifts. I was also eyeing this very cool skeleton / day of the dead looking tequila bottle. I will definitely be back if I can think of who to gift that to! read more

I have gone to this Binny's a few times now for cigars. Each time I go Eddie who works the Humidor there has been absolutely incredible. Each time I go he has greeted me with a smile and has been very helpful. His knowledge of not only Binny's selection but of other brands is incredible. The cigars he has suggested all have been hitters. I bought a lighter that unfortunately stopped working after a week and of course I lost the receipt but he looked it up using my rewards number and said he will switch it out once they get more in stock. He gave me his email address and told me to email him and he will let me know when their stock is replenished. I purchased a humidor the other day and again Eddie was very helpful in setting me up. I honestly don't ever post reviews but I felt that when finding someone as helpful and knowledgeable it must be shared. The manager working this afternoon/morning (07/23/2023) is immensely rude and seems like he hates his job and customers. I usually spend $50-$100 in cigars at this place once or twice a month (if not more often). As soon as I was let into the humidor the guy was rushing me out the door. I asked a question and he rebuffed with attitude "I have no clue". Then he got on the radio asking if someone can replace him in the humidor like he was too good to be helping me out. I am a regular customer at Binnys in Schaumburg, I stopped by to buy a case of beer. There was a sign that said a 12 pack was $19.99 and a six pack was $11.99. There was a sealed case box that you could not tell how it was packaged inside. At check out the manager said I had purchased 4 six packs and not 2 twelve packs! in order to save $4 he said I'd need to bring the case back and get back in the check out line with two twelve packs. Although I have a Binny's in my neighborhood, this was my first ever experience at one. This place is huge!! Have almost every liquor variety and plenty of options for that spirit ranging on both price ends. Having zero knowledge of wine I found myself lost in their endless lanes. Finally sought help from Steve, who was such a friendly gentleman. He answered all my stupid questions, went lane by lane, giving a back story for each bottle and helped me pick one. Bad experience at Binny's. Was asked for two forms of ID AND NO OTHER CUSTOMERS WERE ASKED for other forms of ID. My boyfriend and I (a BLACK COUPLE) in this white ass neighborhood came in to buy one bottle to enjoy the start of our summer. PRIVACY VIOLATIONS. The evening manager on 4/20/2021 asked to see my CREDIT CARD AND BANK STATEMENTS AS A SECONDARY IDENTIFICATION. I'm not sure if this is even legal. The holidays are coming up and this Binny's and it's staff put Santa and his elves to shame. I've never been one for the holidays, but I've always been one for boozin' and luckily the latter helps combat the former. My first visit was today and my second visit will probably be tomorrow, then third the next day, and so on and so forth. And while I love the dingy little bodega-style liquor stores with outdated posterboard/ad filled windows, this Binny's, although big-box, has some serious spirit steals. My purpose for coming in today was to get a thank you gift for an associate of mine, and I actually ended up getting some X-mas gifts as well. I swear, all the good stuff was on special, or even better, on special and included both a rebate (that I'll probably never mail-in) and glassware. I can't recall ever seeing a Binny's with so many discounts. A cornucopia of cocktail ingredients, a bevy of brews and a wondrous array of wines from countries I'd never even heard of. Nate the service manager is a Bum. I don't mean he is broke. What I mean is; He has piss poor attitude, Poor management skills and horrible customer service skills. I just left this store. I went in to buy cigars. Simple right? Until I met this crabby Nate! I know what I like & what I want. I've been here a lot of times before & usually I'm out of there with in minutes. I was being helped by a very friendly young lady at first. I picked a set of cigars that I like. I asked to buy a packed set (full Box) new. As she went to look for an unopened box set; She TOLD me, "pick as many EMPTY boxes you like for FREE. As long as I was buying something." I didn't even care for them but I started looking at some. Since I was waiting; what the heck. I liked 3 of them. Then, Nate the service manager came in to tell me that the cigar box they had at this time is one cigar short & they only have 24 cigars; instead of 25. He wouldn't even substitute any other cigar; even at the same price point. "Because it would effect his inventory" Said he would still cut me a "deal." Come to find out; He was charging me 25% more for 24 cigars! I pointed out to him that the TAG price was less. I told him you are charging more. He got upset for pointing out the sale. Also, told me, " you can only have ONE EMPTY BOX." I told him the young lady offered as many as I wanted. & you guys throw these away. He didn't care. He got upset some more. I believe Nate was hell bent on screwing with me. Charging me more. He was acting like I was stealing or something. He WOULD'NT even give me the option of buy them. He refused me service. Told me to, "go buy some where else." Wow! I was shocked. On my way out. I pointed at the fact, it said .50 to buy empty box. He still didn't care. Look like he was gonna cry. He still never gave me the option to buy. Just told me, "you can leave! I rather have you not buy these." This Nate guy is a real disappointment to Binnys. I've been here plenty of times. Spent $100's at a time. Never been treated this rude and disrespectful. Looking back. The box cigars I was buying didn't even have a lid on it. Nate, you are a sad individual. I had a question and the Binny's rep was too busy having a personal conversation with a liquor sampler to acknowledge or help. When I finally did get her attention she was obviously bothered I disturbed her chit chat. She then told me I had to go to customer service to get what I needed and I walked up there with her...instead of helping me when she got to the counter, she got on the damn phone and it was as if I wasn't there. Next door to my house, can't get any more convenient than that. They have membership offers, sometimes really good discounts on certain brands of whiskeys. Since I am a whiskey and vodka guy that's all I can comment on, occasionally I try different brand of beers. They have a wide variety and huge selection of all sorts of alcoholic beverages. Also other items like nuts and soda and water beverages. Which can be pricy. Unfortunately for me, their membership advantages work mostly on their wine and beers. This is a Great location, and a huge store. The hours are kind of tight, they usually close around 8 or 9 pm depending on the day, So get your goods at your earliest convenience. Cheers ! read more
