This is only my second ever tattoo but I don't know if any other place will top the experience I had from getting tattooed by Roman. The man is an absolute beast of an artist, with over two decades of experience under his belt. He's tattooed high profile celebrities like rappers and football players so yes he is pricey, but it is worth every single penny. So much so that I flew all the way from Baltimore to go see him (no regrets at all). Roman specializes in realism and biomechanical pieces, so if you like either of those styles (or both), he's the guy you want. Aside from being an amazing tattoo artist, he is also a super chill guy and a caring father to his kids. When I got to the studio I was instantly treated like a star. His wife Kaitlyn is super lovely and one of the most amazing hosts ever. She helps Roman out while he works and makes sure his clients are comfortable and well fed. When I had my second session for my sleeve I was feeling very under the weather and she would make me hot tea and even fetched a blanket for me. These people really make you feel like home. On both my days there they fed me lunch/dinner and supplied snacks and beverages too. The aesthetics in the studio is a site to behold as well, especially if you like HR Giger art or anything biomechanical related. I look forward to finishing up my tattoo with Roman. Of all the artists that I had spoken with face to face and over IG, and the ones that Didn't respond, I am truly grateful that they weren't the ones! LOL! My sister found a gem! My sister lives in Yucaipa and had previously gotten a tattoo with another artist at this shop. After checking out the shop further, she found an artist by the name of Mike. I went here for the first time, as a walk-in. Marco, who was going to do my tattoo told me he had a appointment, but would let me know if it didn't work out then he would let me know. The appointment didn't work out and he actually went out of his way to tell me to come in! I was not expecting it to get done that day. He was very professional and listened to everything I had to say about getting this tattoo. I almost decided to not get the shading done on this piece and he urged me to do so. I am so glad I chose to take my girl here for the needle piercing rather than the crap experience I had with the piercing gun at Claire's in the '90's. She didn't even flinch and experienced no pain. Super clean shop and was greeted as soon as I walked in for my appointment. Brittney Lugo was my artist. She was professional and also patient because I kinda changed my idea around on the tattoo. She also gave me some cool ideas to implement in the design. Hilarious that after he got crazy on me, people are blowing up his Yelp and IG for doing crazy shit. I heard his guys say "you know how he gets when he's drunk. Apparently the behavior the people are going off about is common. Karma. Wonder how his wife feels after seeing the videos and him partying at the shop till 10am (his words). Boop! Roman will be pissed and make an excuse BUT I had a great experience a year ago. There was a slight issue with the tattoo I got from machete and I've been trying to resolve it. Spoke to Roman yesterday morning and he was so nice and accommodating and said all will be fixed and I'll get the and tattoo. He said he was still drunk from the night before and had his little son in a mosh pit and it was fun. Well... Ok. He tells me everything will be fixed so I'm happy. I go in a little later to see cholo for a jewelry change and Hova and a white artist were looking at me crazy as shit in front of the door. I walked in and apparently that was offensive and they wanted to know why I was there. I told them I talked to Roman and Hova said he wouldn't touch the old tattoo nor would he do the new one. Ok.... So I call at like 6pm and it was Roman. He WENT OFF on me. He said I'm the crazy lady that was in there threatening them about a Yelp review and that I gave them a bad one last time and that he didn't want me at his shop and if I came that he didn't want to hear shit about Yelp and no more reviews. He tells me only the new guy will do my tattoos and that's what he's there for. He passes me to some other guy and I was literally crying because I didn't know what he was talking about and they had all always been cool as shit. second dude gets on the phone and apologized and says Roman is in a bad mood and he's acting that way in general. I never got a call back to schedule with this new guy. Side note, Roman, you might want your artists to watch what they say about you around customers. They were talking about how you got in to a "fist fight' the night before and "you know how he gets when he's drunk." Another side note, Cholo is amazing. I also texted Roman a screenshot of my prior review and asked if he didn't want me to come to his shop and he ignored me while continuously posting pictures on IG. Bipolar or alcoholic are the only things I can think of but it's bad business anyway to have someone ask for a touch up for a year and not accommodate. What can I say? Artistic Element is seriously one of the best shops in California. Not only is the decor fucking amazing, but the caliper of artists Roman has in his shop is crazy. Personally I've had both of my legs done by Poch. I've spent many many hours in the shop. Poch is a color realism specialist and master at his craft. Highly recommended. This shop is not for cheap people looking to get "blasted". This shop and its artists have spent years doing what they do. Mastering their craft. So don't pop in thinking Oh I can get an amazing tattoo for $100. No. If you want high quality you pay for it. I've met and follow mostly all artist from the shop. I can tell you that the atmosphere is super chill. No pressure. Nothing but solid professionals. I recommend Poch, Roman, Sam, Wes, Richie, Jeff, shit all of them kill it really. I've been looking for a great tattoo artist to do tropical work. I met Samual Gabriel and had a good vibe! He paid full attention to the details of my vision!!! I'm from Hawaii and have great love for the waves, flowers and beautiful sunset so that's what I wanted as a full back piece!!! 3rd session in and halfway done. He's done a BEAUTIFUL job on the realistic looking wave! The flow of the water going into the wave ....damn good work! Sooooo just my experience but thought I'd put it on here, paid for a 1300 tattoo just to be redone from a different person. Machete added some things on there that I did not have any acknowledgment he was doing(on my back) until it was done... When I asked about it after it was done he says, "oh that'll fade" while after I asked him he looked nervous as hell.. yeahhhh because he knew WHY I was asking about it. So I gave it a few months to heel, maybe thought I'll like it after. No I left not too happy and still wasn't happy(5 months after) This is the part that pisses me off, when I told him about it a couple months after(wanted to wait until the healing process ended) the dude had the audacity to say, "you left happy" well fuck by that time what the fuck else could I do! I tried to like it... what's done was done. Never apologize and asked if there's something he could do or anything to resolve the problem. It was all defensive attitude, probably thinking that his wife that was texting back and forth, dictating his work stuff that I noticed she was doing when I was there. Anyways best decision was my gut to not go back to the guy and get it redone by someone else because mannnnnn it looks soooo much better. First potential tattoo experience was terrible. All artists seem really great, but I can say Brittany is extremely unprofessional. This was my first tattoo and wanted a good experience, but it was not that at all. I had originally walked into Artistic Element a few months ago, wanting just a quote on a tattoo. Brittany was there and immediately quoted me, I wasn't quite ready to get it at the time as it was my first tattoo so I hesitated. I finally decided I wanted the tattoo and wanted her to do it because I liked all of her work on Instagram. I emailed her for an inquiry, a few days later I received a questionnaire, that I answered completely, and even sent her a picture of my desired tattoo design. Which was a very simple design. She emailed me, and asked me to come in for a consultation. My husband and I came in for the consultation, and she was no where to be found. One of the other tattoo artist that was there, was very helpful and attempted to contact her via phone and text. After waiting about 20 minutes, and no word from her on her ETA, we left. Later that night I got a message around midnight apologizing for missing the consultation. She didn't know we had it because she didn't read her email and didn't know we scheduled. I thought that was a huge red flag, but decided I really liked her work and would give her another chance. We rescheduled for a few days later. We showed up to the shop and waited about 15 minutes for her arrival which was 10 minutes later then our scheduled time. When i showed her my design that I had emailed she was surprised at how easy it was and apologized that she wasn't really sure who she was talking to via email. She stated I didn't need a consultation at all. She told me the price and that it would be super quick. Her calendar was pretty booked, and the only time that fit in with my schedule was 3 week out from our consultation. We scheduled for today Sept. 11th. I arrived at my appointment and there was a women being tattooed by Brittany, I didn't think anything of it as I figured she was just finishing up. Brittany then came over, and asked me again of what design I wanted, and that she totally forgot my appointment was for today. She said she could have someone else do it. Immediately I was like well, I scheduled this with you 3 weeks ago, and this is my first tattoo and I wanted you to do it because I like your work. She tried pushing me off onto another artist, who was really nice about it and was willing to sketch something up for me. I was already anxious about getting the tattoo, and being passed around put a very bad taste in my mouth, especially since I had booked an appointment 3 weeks ago! I understand it was a simple tattoo and not a huge money maker, but it really made me feel crappy. I had made an appointment, had been really flexible with her multiple times, and for her to not remember the appointment and then pass me off immediately was extremely unprofessional. Your work may be good, but that doesn't warrant giving people poor customer, making their design or idea feel unimportant, and giving people the run around. read more

Artistic element has amazing artists my husband and I loved the work and different styles unfortunately we did not have enough for the artist that we wanted to do our tattoos so we got our tattoos done by T-Craig who does work at artistic element. While we were there he was nice. We paid upfront but did not get the full job done during the first session. My husband's tattoo was not finished and both of ours need touch ups which T-Craig promised to set aside another day for both of our tattoos to get finished. I tried to reach out to him countless times and every single time he would flake or cancel. There were even a few times when we would already be driving to yucaipa (we live about an hour away) because we had set a appointment and he called to cancel so we had to turn around and go home. His excuses to not follow through with finishing our tattoos were always that he was sick or something was wrong with his wife every single time, it was unprofessional with how much his personal relationship affected him getting the job done. The thing was that when he would cancel on us to finish what he had already been paid for we were pretty understanding until we would see him going live on IG or posting on his IG stories of him working and tattooing but he cancelled on us..... if I were to take a wild guess it seems to me that mine and my husband's tattoo were not a priority anymore because he had already been paid the full amount up front and it was on to the next for him it was great while we were there but as soon as we left it's like he was done and didn't intend on finishing because he already had the money and we were gone I guess you get what you pay for hope this review helps you decide who you want tattooing you read more

It's up to you how much you want to spend on a tattoo, but when it comes to choosing a tattoo artist I would recommend Artistic Element to anyone. $100 an hour to get tattooed is a low rate compared to the quality of work the tattoo artists do. Come on now, if you're willing to put something permanent on your body this is the place to have it done! The guys here have a great sense of humor which makes it more enjoyable to be in the place when whichever artist is working on you. The remodel looks great and I'd have to say that everything is tits about the place. I had booked a tattoo with a shop in Grand Terrace. I sent my wife out of town so I could get here name done as a surprise for her birthday.
