I almost never write a 5 star review. Sunny who is new did a nice memorial piece which came out alright. A tiny hiccup on the dates but was an easy fix since changing a seven to a nine is somewhat doable without being too noticeable. The entire AE family are very friendly and the studio is a work of art in its own right. I recommend saving enough canvass to try out each of the artists there. Pricing seemed fair for what was done. Went to get a patriotic tattoo. I spoke with an artist and I looked at his work and he had done a badass patriotic tattoo and that was exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately I didn't get that type of detail or artistry. I didn't get the feeling that the artist really was feeling tattooing that day. I wish he would have rescheduled another day when he was more into it. I find it extremely unprofessional and just wrong to give someone a bad tattoo. It looks like it was done with a marker. When I went to talk to the artist for a touch up I got the impression that I was bothering him. This thing cannot be fixed and now I'm stuck with an expensive bad tattoo. read more

I had a few tattoos done by artists at Artistic Element. I can't go into detail about who did my last tattoo but I wrote a complaint to the owner and in turn received multiple page long emails from the artist who tattooed me threatening to sue me if I went to the Better Business Bureau or if I left a review on this website mentioning their name. I was also told by said artist that because I signed the Waiver BEFORE I was tattooed, basically nothing that happens while I am being tattooed matters. I was insulted over and over again by this artist and emailed the owner thinking he would have said artist stop emailing me but they continued. If you don't see any other complaints on here maybe it is because they threaten to sue you if you do so, I don't know. I just know my own case. I wish I could tell you about the quality or who did my tattoo and what happened but they claim that to write a true heart felt complaint is slander, amongst other things. The man that does the piercings is absolutely so rude and totally blew my daughter and I off along with talking shit on us to his coworkers right after he walked away and didn't help us when we just wanted a simple piercing! Along with that this place smelt like weed but my daughter really wanted to get her nose done so she called later in the day to go get it done and he said "he didn't feel like doing any more piercings" what I don't understand is how can someone have a job but when business comes around they just don't feel like it! I wouldn't recommend 1 employee at this place, there's an artist who quoted me 100$ an hour for a 4 hour tattoo ink to skin session but on appointment day when he "finished" end of tattoo made me pay 500$ for just 3 and 1/2 hours of actual tattooing. His work is amazing, and it's always virtually painless. He is the only one I will trust with any of my piercings, and everyone in the shop is always friendly when I go in. I was just tattooed by Kali yesterday. This place is freaking amazing. The shop alone lets you know that they mean business. I had to wait a little over a month for my appointment and it is a little on the pricier side but you get what you pay for. I wanted to update a traditional rose on my back. Kali made it look like a different tattoo and added his own touch to it and I love it!! If I ever decide to get more tattoos, I will go back to him. AE is a powerhouse of talent! I came in with a Bad tattoo job & a lot of questions. The staff is incredible. The shop design gives you a sample of the creativity of the artists there. Not to mention it's the cleanest one that I have ever been to. It seems like we were able to meet and talk with each of the artists. I was tatted by Kali about a year ago. He is a great artist and I will be going back to him for the next one. The shop itself is cool and everyone in there makes you feel like you're supposed to be there. I have been to many tattoo shops and got that feeling like I wasn't wanted. Never the case here. Everyone is friendly, funny and down to earth. I highly recommend Kali for a tattoo if you are looking for a good artist. With that said, the old saying goes here, "you get what you pay for". So expect at least $125 an hour, but it is well worth it for a permanent art collection...On a final note, I also booked an appointment and it was cancelled twice. Went in yesterday to get my septum re-pierced by Cholo. When I first got it pierced it was at another place and it was done wrong. He talked me through it and of course it hurt especially going through scar tissue but I'm really happy with how it came out. My piercing is now straight and he made sure to educate me on keeping it clean. The shop overall is very clean and everyone in there are super cool. The moment I met Richie he was very professional, courteous, and attentive to what I was trying to achieve. This is a skill people! He was great enough to give his opinion on what would work and what wouldn't and what can be done to still get what you want. SUCH A HUGE FAN OF SUNNYS WORK!! He used to tattoo down in the Coachella Valley and when I heard he moved up here I was totally bummed ! He is THE ONLY PERSON I TRUST TO TATTOO ME! What a great location and tattoo shop. I love the steam punk motif and the creativity they used to make it. I had a very unique experience here and the short story is I met Roman and the rest of the gang at AET. Sunny is a great artist who was patient with me in bringing my tattoo to life. He also did and outstanding job at accommodating me and making sure I was comfortable the whole time. During the length of my tattoo he was talkative with me which was comforting but when I wanted to doze off he gave me something to rest my head on comfortably. All in all he's a dope artist who is pretty reasonable!! I've also come here to get my belly button and my industrial pierced by cholo-- and will soon be doing my nose. Each time was amazing, cholo has a great energy and always helps me feel comfortable before a piercing. I agree with everyone on this page about how amazing this shop is. I was very skeptical because it is a small shop in my home town and that just didn't seem right. Yet I saw work that my friend Ally received from Kali and it looked awesome. So I made an appointment for a cover up and fix of a tattoo I already had from a friend's husband. I wasn't used to the cost of professional tattoos, I had 6 already, but it was well worth it!! I went back for #7, a tribute to my daughter and I recieve so many compliments on the work. My lions are the best work I have and can't wait to add more to them. I love the atmosphere. It's homey yet professional. Everyone there is down to earth and not judemental. Apparently Roman, the young and kind owner, is quite well-known in the tattoo world, but I didn't come for him - I came because my second-oldest friend married (uber talented and professional) Tony, who had a guest spot working at Artistic Element last weekend. It's hard to get an appointment with Tony in our hometown, so I traveled the 85 miles from Venice to Yucaipa to get the tattoo I've always wanted (an ocotillo in bloom going up my left calf). I can't review Tony because you won't be seeing him at this tattoo studio, but I can speak for the location: it's quite clean, and the other artists were busy and talented and funny. Prices are good. Front lounging area features a comfy black couch and a nice television playing decent films. Artists' equipment is up to date, though the chairs upon which clients sit while getting worked on are a bit wobbly and thus disconcerting. I'm truly happy with my new tattoo and it's healing up nicely. I guess I'd recommend this studio to someone who lives closer and seeks a talented tattooist or piercer. read more
