I just got through my surgery for a 360 calf and ankle and we added my upper sides of my thigh the day of to remove my lipedema. Dr.Su was kind and knowledgeable. His staff was warm and considerate. It feels like they really care. I read a few reviews talking about his bedside manner and saying it wasn't great but I could not disagree more. It's very interactive and so if you don't have good control over your muscles it makes it hard for him to do a good job. Everytime I started to not flex, he politely asked me to tighten up, then immediately said thank you every time. This is a huge and major surgery and the recovery is really hard. There's a reason they don't advise getting both portions of the legs done but I was adamant cause I live so far. I went to Dr. Su to correct my lower leg lipo from a previous (botched) surgeon. I was nervous because of the awake aspect and also I knew I'd have scar tissue that would make it more difficult to work through. Dr. Su definitely worked hard to give me a nice aesthetic result. I won't lie, it does hurt but it's tolerable. I have a high tolerance to medication so I think I felt more than usual. The minute he stops the cannula, the pain is gone. I've avoided this review for years. This was the worst experience I have ever had. Not only was lipo illegal in an office setting (or maybe still is) but nothing seemed sterile. The office had carpet in it. No wonder he moves offices so often. When I went to get lipo, he couldn't get me numb at all. We had reached the max amount of injections, so it became a "F***k it" situation for him. It hurt so bad I needed to pause every 10 minutes, which frustrated him and he'd give me no more than a minute before going back in.... During the process he was angrily grinding the canula inside me (i'm awake mind you, that's what this place is). The look on his face looked like hate, which was horrifying and for some reason he let my wife stay in the room while this was happening. He started getting what he called "fibrous fat" stuck in the canula, looking back to what I saw, and thinking back to the pain i'm in -- I guess he must have been scraping off my abdominal muscle fibers. Recovery was awful. Now listen -- i'm not saying lipo is comfortable, I had it two more times after this, from a real doctor, in a real surgery center and the recovery and pain was 10% of this. This guy is a butcher. What he does should never be done where and how he does it. When my wife got hers done, she went through the same thing. However, she made the dumb mistake of wanting to see her lipo so she took off her compression garment and reseated it... That caused problems and lumps. What was Dr. Su's solution? He grabbed my wifes stomach skin with his two bare hands and ripped the skin off of her abs. You read that right. He placed his hands upon my wifes stomach, made two fists, then ripped her skin off her and told her "Next time I bet you'll just listen to me" What the F***k. Dr. Su is amazing... im 1 day post op, and I feel great . My results are incredible. I had my arms done about 1 year ago at another practice and was not satisfied with the results at all. I still had so much fat left over but was told over and over again by the surgeon that its just skin, and I'm heavy built. Which is not true, it was just their way to not deal with me. I found Drm Su on ig and had been following him for a while. Finally i got the courage to make that move and fly from Califonia to Tampa.... the whole experience was amazing. Dr. Hamwi is as caring as he is a skilled surgeon. I am 50 and had two procedures. First tumescent liposuction on my sides, hips and back. Then 6 weeks later a tummy tuck. All the staff at Artistic Liposuction are friendly, informative and professional. I also can't say enough good things about the folks at the Tampa Bay Surgery Center on MLK; they were terrific at making me feel comfortable. I was nervous because it was my first surgical procedure ever. It has been 12 weeks after liposuction and 6 weeks since the tummy tuck and I couldn't be happier. Hello, this is your red flag waving. Dr. Su is not a board certified plastic surgeon. Oh but those IG photos - so good, right? Don't be fooled. Out of state? Beware. Remote consults = joke. You email photos. Either Dr. Su or Gruber (you won't know which) will draw on a couple with a sharpie and have a coordinator send back without any specific notes. You'll also get a lofty quote - mine was $8K. A lot for a general physician (that's what Dr. Su really is). If you're dumb, like me, you'll pay a deposit. Proceed to 5-min boiler plate health history phone consult. Take time off work. Schedule your trip. Then get a lame excuse relayed to you second-hand. Dr. Su refuses to do your procedure. What? In my case, I was told if I got a heart stent THEN he would do it. WTF?! You'd rather me have ADVANCED life-threatening heart disease?! I sent a scan showing I have no coronary contraindications for the procedure. My bad. It was taken with technology so new Dr. Su probably never heard of it (or didn't bother to look). I felt really bad for the office staff that had to relay his paltry excuse. Their excellent customer service was erased by the doctor's unwillingness to consider my individual case. Just like Reisha, I feel this was a blessing in disguise. The practice makes a living sucking fat out of patients, many of whom are morbidly obese. No doubt some are ticking time bombs, yet he only relies on a blood test to operate. So he's really NOT concerned about high risk. Not knowing = not liable. I question the ethics. If there's another answer, he should have called personally. In retrospect, who knows if one of the doctors really drew on my photos. They can't be bothered to Skype remotely, like other reputable plastic surgeons. They don't care what I, or you, look like dimensionally if you're out of state. Also they only do tumescent lipo not High Def Vaser Lipo, which is less invasive (or a combo)...most plastic surgeons evaluate the individual case. I had celebrity arms procedure done April 2021 and I am very pleased with the outcome. I have been working out for many years yet my arms lacked the shape and definition that I wanted. I didn't have Dr Sue, I had Dr Gruber for the celebrity arms 5/23/18. I found them on YouTube and immediately fell in love with the results. I hated my arms so I was willing to travel to the best who specialized in arm Lipo. My appointment was at 10am but I waited over 3 hours to be seen. Dr Gruber was very nice but She left a big scar on my back which I'm not happy about. The surgery is also a little aggressive. After reading up on liposuction of the arms from other plastic surgeons I read that usually Lipo is taken from the elbow and armpit. I have multiple incisions and scars not only on my arms but my back. Although I'm happy that my arms are smaller the main reason for me getting the surgery was for the scarring to not be so noticeable so I can wear tanks and short sleeves and now it looks like I'm back to hiding them again. I wish I would have done my research first on where the incisions would be done so I would have told her to not make them so noticeable or just got regular Lipo in the arms and not the "celebrity arms". It was my first time having Lipo so I didn't know the right questions to ask. Hoping after a few more months my scars will go away. After spending 8k I may have to spend more money for scar revision. I scheduled my liposuction months in advance. I was flying into Tampa from another state to see Dr. Su. I had already completed my blood work, paid my $2700 deposit, paid for airline tickets and hotel in advance. My husband had scheduled time off from work to acompany me to Tampa. Worst liposuction ! I never wanted to post this, but my conscious wouldn't rest until I did. I have had other producers : Breast augmentation and liposuction and BBL. I only go to the best surgeons. I've always wanted lean arms so I went to Dr. Su 6 moths ago for celebrity arms (very misleading). I paid $12,500 and regret it. He has a passive aggressive bedside manner. While he was doing my arms he stated he should be doing my knees instead!! How awful. He also rushed my procedure and left a considerable amount of fat in my left arm. Two days after the procedure I developed a seroma I contacted him and the office several times I came back in he drained it once and said it would go away. Fast forward six months later my left arm has a visible Seroma and considerably more fat that then my right. I also have several keloid scars from his incisions. If your skin keloids do not go to him. I've contacted the office several times for revision no one has responded. To make matters worse if you dare complain the staff will ostracize you. In my experience they are prejudice and unprofessional. There are plenty of other surgeons who do a much better job for a better price. They just call it slim lipo and jplasma. It has taken me years to write this review and I finally decided that I should take the time and warn others of this so called "surgeon". About 3 years ago I went in to have liposuction on my my flanks. Once the procedure was over and he stood me up to show me the results, I asked him to go ahead and do my entire stomach. He agreed to do it and that became THE WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE! My stomach now looks like an alien lives in it and has not improved at all in the 3 years since surgery. I was left with a rippled stomach and a flap of loose skin under my belly button. I would give anything to have my old stomach back again. When I expressed my concerns, they just said "oh well, heres the name of a plastic surgeon..." The staff is only interested in booking additional procedures and does not care at all about the patients. About two months ago Dr. Su performed lipo on my ankles, calves and inner/outer knee area. I am an out of state patient. He was the only physician that I spoke with who was confident in performing this procedure. He was also the only physician that posts pre and post op pictures and video of the procedures he performs. I was extremely nervous and skeptical of the idea of having this type of procedure completed due to the sensitivity of the ankle region. I spent over a year researching this recent type of procedure and found that Dr. Su would be the best physician to complete this. Dr. Su and his staff assisted with all my questions before and after the procedure. Dr. Su answered and explained the entire process before my flight to his office. His staff provided me with travel and transportation information for my trip. During procedure you are awake the whole time. If you feel any type discomfort Dr. Su will stop and inject additional lidocaine to ensure that you are completely numb before he continues. I would say the most painful part of the process is before the procedure when you are injected with lidocaine. It feels like a stinging or pinching sensation. Once you are numb you don't really feel any pain. Dr. Su asks you to stand and move around during the procedure so he can ensure that he is getting the most accurate shape possible. I was completely speechless and surprised during and after the procedure that he was able to provide my straight legs with a normal shapely leg, with visibly looking thinner ankles. I spent most of my life in long pants and dresses. I could not believe that I was looking at my real legs. After the procedure his nurse called late in the evening to check up on me when I was at the hotel. They provided me with their cell numbers just in case I had any issues or questions before my follow-up visit the next day. It has been about two months and the small incisions on my legs are slowly healing. I still have some swelling in my feet and around low part of ankles but I visibly see that my legs look better as each week passes. I had lipo on my inner thigh and a complete knee complex on yesterday day. My appointment was at 11:30 and was not taking back for the procedure on until 2 hours later. Incredible Doctor with Exceptional Results Dear Yelp followers, I am writing this review for Dr. Thomas Su, the owner and Doctor at ArtLipo.com. All I can say is I am completely thrilled with my liposuction results and would highly recommend Dr. Su to anyone considering have liposuction done, His staff is always amazing from the lovely Ashley who is the office coordinator to the skilled nurses, Lynne and Kelly who will take the absolute best care of you and make you feel welcome and comfortable. Let me begin by telling you that I am a "liposuction" veteran and have had the procedure done several times in the past, with very poor results. When I had my consultation with Dr. Su he took a look at my legs and knew immediately that I had had liposuction done and not done well. A big problem area for me was my knees which had fat on both sides, giving me an unattractive appearance. Dr. Su said there was definitely fat there to be removed and even said there was fat behind the knee which he could remove to slenderize my knee area even further. I told him that my previous doctor had removed fat from my knee area and I was unhappy with the outcome, still having "fatty knees" and that the previous doctor said that was all the fat that could be removed and any additional removal would cause sagging. Dr. Su reassured me that this was not the case and I was so relieved to hear this. He also looked at my forearms, another area of my concern which are fatty, no matter what my efforts to improve through diet and exercise. Dr. Su explained there was fat there that he could remove as well. The day of the surgery I was with the nurses Lynn and Kelly. They were amazing to says the least! Making me feel comfortable and secure and the surgical suite was impeccably clean and welcoming. Once I was prepped and ready for the procedure, Dr. Su came in and was so nice and reassuring about everything, He really takes the time to make you feel important and that your thoughts and feelings on the procedure matter. I sensed immediately that he is driven to achieve the best results possible for his patients and his friendly but thoroughly professional manner was impeccable. During the procedure, Dr. Su always asked how I was doing and if I was comfortable. Several times during the procedure he had me stand up to see how the results were looking. i wouldn't recommend this guy at all! If I could give 0 stars I would. He is narcissistic and egotistical. The worse part is that he doesn't have the credentials to even back up his behavior (he isn't board certified/his surgery room is a joke as its not equipped to save your life in case of emergency) . I went to him because his office made it easy (free consultation and they have openings like crazy) and I was tricked by the videos he posts of the ankle/knee surgery. When he was discussing with me warning signs of other surgeons, he mentioned that if they are not able to connect you with a former patient that they've had a successful surgery with, then look the other way. I asked to speak to pretty much any of his patients that went through the surgery, not one single person came through or returned their calls. I still ignored that because of how easy they made it seem. A few days before my surgery, I called the nurse and explained how I'm having a cough and I've been taking over the counter medication for it. She says that its fine and that she'll inform him of my situation. She called me back and said that surgery is still go. I fly all the way to Tampa only to have my surgery cancelled because of precautions of me recovering (which is fine, better be safe than sorry). But here's what the nurse told me, she said that she informed him that I had a cough and I was taking medication for it but he assumed that it was just allergies hence why he didn't cancel beforehand. They all said that he was confused and this wasn't the first time something like this happens . I meet with him for a face to face consultation. He seemed really egotistical (just kept talking about how no body can do a better job than him), he made promises to remove all the fat from the areas and have the skin adhere to just the muscle (this I learned is a pretty bad method for many reasons from board certified surgeons), and he spent more time showing youtube videos of surgeons who've done bad jobs. I had a really uneasy feeling with him at this point, but I've already paid and I gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided to have the surgery rescheduled. A few weeks later, I fly back out there again and this time, he is purely nasty; zero bed side manner. Ladies, when you are having someone about to operate on you and they treat you like crap, that is a calling from god to get the hell out of there. I was simply trying to make conversation with him to feel at ease (everyone feels nervous before surgery) and he snarked at me multiple times. He walks out of the room to let the nurses prep me for the surgery; it was really awkward and everyone in the room was kind of left uneasy. I asked 'is he always like this or is he just having a bad day' and literally one of the nurses walks out of the room and went to tell him I said that. He comes back and cancels the surgery on me again. I was left distraught, my emotions were up and down because one minute I was nervous about my surgery and the next i am wondering what the hell did i do to make this guy so upset with me. The nurse that told him what I said was trying to 'comfort' me by saying that she only told him so they could prevent bad reviews (ding ding ding another red sign) (also the whole time i was trying to process what is happening, she was complaining to me about her crazy personal drama as to compare that what I was going through isn't bad). He also said to me, when he was literally yelling at me, that he doesn't like to operate on people with medical backgrounds because he thinks they are cocky and not complacent and will blame any bad results on him. I was so stressed out and felt emotionally abused by him. Looking back, I am so thankful that he cancelled my surgery. I'm so thankful that I did not put my body and life into the hands of this so called 'artist doctor'. He is so egotistical and unstable because he has such low self-esteem and its just his defense mechanism. I'm just glad I dodged that bullet and I hope all the ladies reading this, run the opposite way too. My top choices were Dr. Emer and Dr. Copeland. Both made me feel so incredibly comfortable because they are professional, board certified, outstanding bed side manner, and not to mention just super sweet.
