Embarrassed, I've never posted a review after my procedure. This is my first. A friend recommended Dr Halpern to me in 2018. It was important that someone I know provide a recommendation beforehand - I was very nervous about doing any plastic surgery. Although he and his staff (wife) were very friendly, Dr Halpern did what he wanted, not what I wanted. I wanted a C, I walked away with a DDD. On every follow up appointment I expressed concern, and they continued to downplay my words, saying I looked great and I would like myself later after my skin stretched a bit. Not much to do about it after the surgery, though. Recovery was brutal and I dreaded ever having to do this again. But today, after years of not being happy with my results, I'm finally looking for a different doctor to fix things and get back to feeling like myself. read more

Amazing doctor who I trust! He is honest and conservative at the same time. He will only tell you to do something that is needed or necessary. He won't steer you in the wrong direction to make you do more than what's necessary. I came to him after a horrific experience at a different location where I was burned badly on my face that left a scar and an indentation... Dr Halpern helped calm me and helped to fix the appearance of the scar. I am extremely happy with the results. The office staff are extremely friendly and loving... they treat you like family! I also see Mallory, the esthetician, for facial services and I am in awe of her expertise in her field. She has helped my skin look radiant and also helped to diminish the appearance of my scar. Just took my 3 month old to get her ears pierced and she did great as well as Dr Halpern! I gave her a bit of Tylenol before going, she only cried when he numbed her ears and we had her swaddled and she fell asleep on my chest, he then pierced her ears while I held her. Took all of 20 min. Make sure to get snap back earrings (NOT SCREW BACKS) and bring a swaddle, pacifier and a toy Highly recommmend going here if you're thinking of taking your little one. I met Dr. Halpern and his staff a few months ago. I was very impressed from the moment I walked into his office. They are the most professional and friendly staff I've ever met. I was referred to Dr. Halpern for Carpel Tunnel surgery. I was suffering from Carpel Tunnel for years. It was unbearable to the point that I could not sleep at night. I was a bit skeptical having surgery on both hands at once, however Dr. Halpern assured me that I'd be able to use both hands after surgery. And he was right! Very cool Doctor! On the day of surgery, he showed up prior to surgery and explained to me again what will take place. In the OR room, he asked me what type of music I like. I asked him to make a selection. He played Barry White music. Needless to say, I heard only a small portion of the song. I woke up in the recovery room, Dr. Halpern was there. He was right about me being able to use both of my hands after surgery. I was able to dress myself to go home, needing only a little help from the nurse. Once I got home, I was able to care of myself without assistance. I highly recommend Dr. Halpern. He is a very friendly, and experienced Doctor who is also caring. I wanted to laud and applaud this doctor and his staff for their exceptional care and share some possibly unknown facts. For two, he is the doctors doctor AND the head of Plastic Surgery at TGH! He has 3 areas of specialty that work in concert with his overall genius, Hand surgeon and general surgeon! His note keeping is impeccable, and as my doc brother emphasized "the first sign of a great doc, record keeping"! I had a "granny lift" at age 66, after researching and enduring the "normal" weight gain and fat tire at the belly level, gravity drop in all the wrong places, and blood levels rising in all of the regular number , requiring meds. I discovered that, through some research, this operation could very well turn back all of the trends. He is smartly conservative on the lipo amounts also, probably due to my age. Let me just say, I would 100 percent do this surgery again, my healing I'm sure a little slower and post-op office visits more numerous, but they have amazing tricks up their sleeves for healing and I was greeted with smiles, every time. I feel like my entire core has been restored to when I was in my twenties and don't think I EVER looked as perky, flat "tummied" and proportional. Feeling like a million bucks.; and brings back sensations that were certainly covered with fat, weight, gravity....whatever. If you are younger, you need to carefully choose these days as everyone is getting into the beauty game , be wise and choose the best and this chief of plastics is your best bet!!!! Doctor Halpern is a dedicated doctor who cares about his patients and gives you just what you need. I was truly blessed to be referred to him. He took great care of me. He did a skin graft on my leg and my leg is healing nicely. He then referred me to the lymphedema therapist who is getting my lymphedema issue under control. No other doctor who I have ever seen knew, cared, and took the time to address this issue. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Halpern. I had been searching for a Dr. that could work with my autoimmune and still give me beautiful results. I was nervous before my consultation but after meeting Dr. Halpern and his wonderful staff I felt safe and that he was the right Dr. for me. I rarely, if ever, write reviews to endorse a person or service but it wouldn't be right if I didn't fully articulate just how amazing our experience has been with Dr. Halpern. My wife was hit in the face by a softball which severely broke her nose, damaged her orbital socket, and damaged her right sinus cavity. Dr. Halpern himself said it was one of the worst fractures he'd ever seen in his 30+ year career. My wife is an actress so there was an obvious aesthetic concern in addition to our general fear and anxiety about how to handle this. Dr. Halpern recommended immediate surgery and we trusted his suggestion for this based entirely on the confidence he instilled in us when we met with him. The surgery was traumatic and invasive, especially having never gone through this before. But when he came out to the waiting room to update us, he informed us that the surgery was an absolute success. Since then we've certainly still had to manage her pain on an hourly basis but the most amazing and unexpected benefit we received was his constant outreach, availability and attention to my wife. Later he told us "I marry all of my patients" and that has absolutely been our experience. He's been available via phone anytime we've needed him regardless of the question. He even met us at the ER unexpectedly the other day to help alleviate some unanticipated intense pain that my wife was experiencing. This surgery was a huge leap of faith for us and it turned out to be a surprisingly comfortable experience which is completely attributed to Dr. Halpern's personal attention and care. I would absolutely recommend his service to anyone who is looking for a plastic surgeon in the Tampa area. I would even go so far as to make myself available to anyone who needs to hear a personal testimony about our experience or needs a reference of any kind. I'm writing this review to dispute a 1 star review on google. Dr David Halpern is not Josh Halpern and he unfortunately has the same last name as a surgeon who has a horrible reputation. I do not believe anyone who has ever visited Dr David Halpern would ever have anything negative to say about him or his staff. He is very strict on his nicotine policy, and that was difficult for me, but that is for your healing, in your best interest and to reduce any risk of complication. I just had Dr Halpern do my breast 3 weeks ago and that man is a miracle worker and a very talented and skilled surgeon. I'd had 7 breast augs and no breast tissue and was turned down by 2 other Tampa Bay Drs bc it was way more reconstruction. One of those Drs was Marcadis & Watt who have a great rating, and even Watt said I was very complicated and Dr Halpern was absolutely the right surgeon for me. How many Plastic surgeons do u think turn money away and refer u to another? Good ones, they knew his skill set and they were right on. He's the first surgeon who has ever called and checked on me after surgery. He is confident but not arrogant, friendly, caring, never makes u feel rushed, takes his time, and his staff especially Silvia are amazing. I had to put all my trust in him bc I was so complicated, and thank God I did bc I couldn't even imagine after all my issues I would look this amazing again. I think people get him confused for Josh Halpern and I also think he doesn't get enough reviews bc he's in South Tampa and women would rather pretend they have never had plastic surgery instead of giving a well deserved review. He's triple board certified in plastic surgery, general and micro hand surgery, and chief of plastic surgery at Tampa General, you don't earn that botching surgeries. Please do your research and do not just go by a review that I honestly believe was meant for another Dr. It's a shame that he has to share the same name as another Dr with such a bad reputation bc Dr David Halpern is an angel to me. Dr. Halpern will overcharge you; you may get into an argument with his billing manager; and there are better practices and doctors out there. I should have listened to the other negative reviews and saved myself the trouble of dealing with him, his staff, and the time I am now putting into writing this. Save yourself the headache and avoid Dr. Halpern's practice. If a doctor does not surround himself with professional and caring staff, do not trust him to have the ability to have your best interests at heart. I ended up choosing another surgeon and am more than happy with the results. Furthermore, the doctor I chose didn't try to charge me more than 3x medicare's rate. I would also like to say I noticed a big difference between the doctor I went with and Dr. Halpern. I never had any doubt about professionalism, skill, and my well-being with the doctor I chose. However with Dr. Halpern, I felt like I was just another number to be processed to make the sale. Everything seemed overly fake and rushed. For whatever reason you decide to see a plastic surgeon, you should always feel that they have your best interest at heart. You should never feel like you are not important or just another sale. If you do decide to "pay" him a visit, then I hope you are a smart and skeptical enough consumer to (1) ask tough questions, (2) do as much research as possible, and (3) be objective. If you have a funny feeling in your gut like I did after my visit, then find another doctor. Remember you want to trust the person who will be operating on you has your best interests at heart. Also, judge a doctor based on the number of times they've performed a specific surgery, overall reviews, and pictures of his/her work. If the doctor has too many credentials, then they might be too spread thin and not specialized enough for your particular needs. There are good surgeons running good practices out there. Based on my experience, Dr. Halpern is not one of them. I hope this helps someone avoid the headache I went through. read more

Dr Halpern is the best. He repaired/redid a breast augmentation due to rupture. He explained the procedure fully and made sure I was 100 percent happy. Dr Halpern repaired everything perfectly with new implants.. He even came to the office on a Saturday to take out my drain tubes for me. His staff is so helpful and friendly and are up front about charges and explain the procedure fully. I have dealt with many Doctors and Dr Halpern is top notch in every category. read more
