Started using them forever ago for their special Fillmore poster frames. Staff is really good at Pete's and they are quite knowledgeable on concert poster art which is a passion of mine. I try to use them as much as possible for other sizes now up to 24x36. I get compliments on my frames all the time. Give them a try - you will love it and the pricing is more reasonable for both precut and custom pieces than others I have used in the past.

If you ask me to go out for a good time, first take me to the Berkeley take me to 10th St. Blick and then to Berkeley Bowl West to pick up something great for dinner. You think I am joking, but I am not. I had a wonderful time and got loads of goodies. I would say the real value at Blick is immediacy. We old school folks like to touch the merchandize. We have respect for the time saved, finding what you want when you want or need it. The people that worked there were very lovely and helpful. The were probably humoring us. Three old ladies touching everything, laughing having some kind of celebration at the Art Store. It was a sort of special occasion and my choice was to go to Blick. It isn't far from home but it can be a challenghIt is a beautifully equipped establishment The only problem I had was at the colored pencils. The font size on the labels was so small could only guess. My.only difficulty at home was am individual Prismacolor green pencil. Upon my friend's (Toni M), suggestion, I went to Sticks on Solano Ave. The gentleman who assisted me was very nice and helpful. He picked out several different mats and frames for me to choose from. I decided to get museum glass to prevent reflection and fading of the textile. It usually takes about 3 weeks for them to finish the framing, but I got it back in 2. My son and his wife were very pleased with the completed project. I did find non-metered parking in front of their shop but I arrived around 15 min after they opened at 11 am. I would definitely consider using Sticks again.

New owner... not the same Stoll…read more My mom had my college diploma framed at Stoll with George, the previous owner, about 12 years ago, and in the last few years, the paper started to ripple slightly. Since there was a lifetime guarantee posted on the back of the frame, I took it back to same shop, but unfortunately the new owner, Saul, was not able to honor his predecessor's guarantee. I had another item that needed to be framed as well, so I decided to go ahead with working with the new owner, Saul, anyway. He showed me a nice variety of frames and I chose two that complemented each other and worked with other frames already in my space. He recorded my choices in his notes and charged me a high, but reasonable price for quality framing of this type, and I paid half as a deposit. He said it would be three to four weeks. Five weeks later, I called to see about my frames and he said one was delayed another couple of weeks. When they were ready (a month late), I came to pick them up and the documents were well mounted, smooth, and clean... But they were in matching frames. I said that one was wrong, and he said that unfortunately he had misplaced his notes, so he couldn't confirm, but had relied on memory and thought I said identical frames. Though I was dissatisfied, I chose not to have them redone and rather just to take my items with me. Saul told me the remainder of the payment would be $100 higher than he originally quoted. I showed him the receipt for the first half of the payment and his original quote, and then he agreed to that accept the amount he had quoted. I have not been back to Stoll since. I have, however, had very good experiences recently with framing a few items at Storey Framing.

Also, I wanted to keep the camera, and I heard that if you get them developed at the drugstores, they ship the cameras to someplace else to get them developed. It was my first time developing film, but the worker was very helpful. She explained to me the different packages and options that they offered. She recommended the develop + print package and to add on the digital scans, as I wanted both. She also helped me decide which photo paper I wanted on the prints; matte or glossy. I paid $33.57 for developing the film, prints, and digital scans. Since this was my first time, I did think it was a bit pricy; not knowing how much people usually pay. I only had 12 prints lol. I received an email stating that my order was ready for pick up; it took 3 days. I received the digital scans in 2 days. The photos came out sooooo goood!!! And it was nice not knowing how they were going to turn out! It was very nostalgic. I recommend Photolab for your prints!

I called Signature Mobile Notary at around 12:50 pm on Halloween to see if there happened to be…read moresame-day availability for one signature. I wasn't really expecting much because, in general, it's unrealistic to assume you can get same-day service, especially if someone travels to various appointments. Fortunately, when I called and gave my address, Simarjit happened to be near the area and was able to fit me into his schedule. He got to my place in less than 20 minutes. Simarjit was friendly, conscientious, and considerate (even asking if he needed to take his shoes off). The whole process was quick, maybe 15-20 minutes. The total cost for one signature was $80, and he did accept credit card. My guess is that the price varies based on where you're located and how many signatures you need notarized. Overall, I had a great experience, so if I ever need to get anything notarized again, I would definitely use Simarjit again. Note: Dont expect that he'll come within 20 minutes because I just got extremely lucky.

Where I was living, on Spruce Street, was close to this US Post Office in North Berkeley, so if I needed to ship anything back to Washington State - this is where I came. We would get flat rate boxes, and then I would fill and ship them as needed. Traveling past on foot a number of times, I saw the lines could be very long. So, I would think through what I really wanted to send back (introspection and prioritization) to reduce the number of times I needed to come and ship belongings to Washington State. Even coming early/off hours, there was a wait - but the line moved briskly and the workers were fast and professional.

Attempted to mail a box however, the post office was all alone with a note that stated will be back…read moreat 4:00pm, I check three different times starting at 1:00pm and no one was there. It must be nice to take a 3 hour lunch on taxpayer money pay.

I've had numerous pieces of art framed over the years, from simple posters to 3-dimensional pieces requiring shadowbox framing. As a result, I've inquired into various framing shops around the bay area looking for the elusive combination of quality and affordability. While it is easy to find a framing shop that can produce a good, quality piece of work, or a framing shop that can offer a great deal, to find quality work at a reasonable price is a much more difficult task. That is of course, until I visited Rodolfo. I had an old poster that my dad bought when he was a kid, and a piece of art that I bought when I did some work in India. I visited some of the other local frame shops in the area and they were swinging between either unnecessarily expensive or crappy work with plastic frames. Eventually, I came across Artistic Framing and had a consult with Rodolfo about my pieces. I was very pleased with the knowledge that he expressed when coming up with an initial design, and final designs to accommodate my desires and needs. He suggested that I use conservation glass considering the age and material of my pieces which made sense. If it's worth spending money on to frame then it's worth conserving, right? When it finally came time for the price quote I was pleasantly surprised. The price I was given was very reasonable, if not "cheap" considering that I was getting quality frames, matting, etc. Ultimately, if you're looking for quality work at a great price, this should be the place you check first. Any other shop will either charge you an ungodly price or give you sub-par work. Thanks Rodolfo for all your help and I'll see you next time I find something to frame! read more

Recently,I noticed that a couple of etchings, despite being framed, were beginning to deteriorate due to age.The pieces are numbered and signed by a known artist but more importantly for me, they have enormous sentimental value. I did a lot of research before deciding on Artistic Picture Framing because I was looking not only for an expert framer but also someone sensitive to the age and fragility of the work. I found both and more in Rudolfo. He is a true artisan who has been perfecting his trade for 38 years. He listened carefully to my concerns, explained what was needed to conserve them before discussing the many framing options available. His store boasts an incredible selection of frames in every price range and to be honest I felt a little overwhelmed. After narrowing it down,.. somewhat, I felt confident (and relieved) about leaving the final decision with him. Rudolfo wasn't there when I picked up the finished work but I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for doing such a fantastic job! My etchings are preserved on acid free matting, are behind museum glass and the framing is perfect. It compliments rather than competes with the art work and is in harmony with the nature, style, and age of the work. I am amazed at how the right frame can really bring out the beauty of a piece. From my experience over the years, there is no finer place for have works of art framed than that of Artistic Picture Framing. The owner is a master of the trade. I refer to him as a 'scientist of beauty', for when a client brings to him a work of art to be framed, he is able to select exactly the colors and materials of the frame that best serve to bering out the unique beauty of the work to be done. And the result of his efforts are always a surprise. In my case, I had collected over my life many works of art from all over Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. I entrusted Artistic Framing, and its owner Maestro Rodolfo--- as I refer to him,---to frame many of these works of art that I had collected over the years. In fact, I had entrusted Maestro Rodolfo to frame 22 paintings all together, amongst them, oil paintings from Russia, Huichol yarn paintings from Mexico, prints from Northern British Colombia, and botanical engravings and lithographs from France. My girlfriend Suzi had this painting rolled up behind her dresser that she had done while she was going to school years ago in England, I was always amazed that she would take something like that and just leave it behind her dresser where it was slowly getting destroyed, well I snuck it out and brought it to artistic picture framing to see what they could do with it, I talked with some guy named Rudolf or Rodolfo, some thing like that. any ways he looked at the painting for awhile then looked up at me and shook his head and said No, I thought he meant nothing could be done for it and reached for it and he said dont touch, he is quite brawny so I didn't touch. No he said again, this is not right to have this painting in this condition,I know what it need's. Great I thought, how much doe's it cost? Well I can tell you the look on Suzi's face when she saw her painting hanging on the living room wall was priceless and I have to say I don't think anyone but Rodolfo could have made a frame that fit that painting better, I am not talking about the size of the frame but the presence his framing job gave to the painting, it looked like it just came from and art gallery. With so many overt reviews for Rodolfo's work it's easy to dismiss the accolades as fictitious. The acclaim and expertise that customers rave about is true. Rodolfo's work is absolutely spectacular and never disappoints. I have returned for multiple projects including canvas paintings from Peru and Cambodia, rice prints from South East Asia and a wooden Mayan Soccer Game. A few customer reviews mention dissatisfaction with regards to price. To customers who are considering business with Rodolfo, understand that you are paying for experience and consultation that will elevate your final result. Framing helps to capture the mystique of your piece, it's most cost effective to have this done correctly the first time. Rodolfo has done work on some of my most treasured keep sakes; every time a piece was left I knew it was safe and being treated with respect. Tip: Experimenting with different mediums and possibilities during consultation is the best part of working with Rodolfo! We took over twenty items to Rodolfo, original art, prints, historical documents, posters, all kinds of stuff we'd been meaning to have framed for years. He and his staff did a fabulous job with all of them. Rodolfo is a pleasure to work with, and his eye is excellent, especially for color. He made faded ink on parchment visually pop with the right color mattes and frames. He created cohesion between a series of five abstract paintings in vivid hues, one each in green, yellow, red, orange and blue. He took a questionably executed pastel sketch my grandmother did when she first started drawing and painting, and gave it dignity to match its sentimental value. We couldn't be happier with the framing we had done. Parking is tricky here, but we managed to find spaces right in front of the store on weekday mornings every time we visited. Man where do I start, Rodolfo is a professional, his shop manager, Drew is also extremely knowledgeable and precise in his in his craft. I came in, not knowing exactly what I wanted, I had an etching that I wanted framed for a loved one as a gift but couldn't really articulate what I wanted done, and didn't know what would be best. Rodolfo was able to cut me a matte on the spot, and showed me myriad different frame styles, and types next to my print. He presented me with different visions as to best compliment, showcase and protect the piece, really helping me to realize what it would look like when it was framed. I went to frame a picture for my mothers birthday. Artistic Picture Framing delivered the piece to my mothers home in Sausalito. Rodolfo did an AMAZING job with two very big wall hangings that were precious family heirlooms from India. He is an expert in framing and really knows his stuff. All his suggestions were spot on and the results were beautiful and unique. In particular he suggested we get a creme fabric background and add a thin, decorative lining to our wood frame that made a huge difference and took the piece from great to WOW. These two wall hangings are now the centerpiece of our living room and make our house really feel like a home. This shop is not the cheapest out there but Rodolfo is a real pro and his craftsmanship is outstanding. He has also delivered the work in less than a week! read more

What they say in their facebook page is true and what you see there is only a sample of what they can do. The price range should be changed to reflect their quotes...$$$$. I like many others purchased a Groupon thinking I would save a significant amount of cash on framing a museum print, but sticker shock killed that idea. They were nice and tried to accommodate my budget with cheaper features, but I was only planning to spend at max 200 (even with groupon) and they quoted 500. I know they do great work and are worth it for originals and limited editions, but BUYER OF GROUPON BEWARE should be posted on the Groupon that it is a big expense to use Artistic Expert Picture Framing. read more

I was referred to Rodolfo by my mom, who some months ago had a few art framed in his shop, I need a framing work for a canvas gifted by my grandpa. When I told Rodolfo the origin of my art and the special feelings I had for it, , he suggested me the options to enhance the colors with the matting and to give the style according to the theme with different frames. when I finally saw it finished I felt I had a masterpiece. looking at the website for a frame company to frame a diploma for new office. looked quickly at the Artistic Picture Framing website attached to Artistic Picture Framing yelp page. It appears the Berkeley store is worth driving to with diploma to find out if a custom frame with custom mats will enhance years of work on diploma for new office. the store looks easy enough to locate. i know the general area quite well. lunch is my lunchbox to eat on my way. i am starved so my lunch table is silly car. i called to verify the store open and someone answered, yeah! Rodolfo is a people person, as such, his customer service is great!! I had brought a oil on canvas painting to Rodolfo, the painting was a bit damaged as I traveled with it. Rodolfo explained in detail what would have to be done to bring the painting back. He had to shave it to remove all the imperfections due to the damage. He did a great job for me on this one. All I can say about MR. Rudolfo's work is that he is a master at his craft. I have had many works framed by most of the framing shops in the bay area but none of them come close to the work of MR. Rudolfo. this man is so original, he can take a dull painting that hangs out of the way and turn it into the center piece of your collection. he has earned my highest of praise and admiration and I look forward to seeing what he can do with the rest of my collection .
