We had SO much fun here! It's a quaint clean place with clean restrooms and great live music! Carnelian was playing and sounded great! The beer was cold & comfortable AC & for our older age group! We enjoyed being able to talk and visit while listening to live music at the same time without shouting or bumping into 18-21 year olds every time turning around! The service was friendly from the minute we walked into the door to ordering drinks at the bar to leaving! The sound here is amazing! It's a typical dive bar. I went to support my cousin who plays in a Zydeco band, Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble. Their performances are always great. It would be a complete disservice to anyone traveling through/visiting (an not from here), if I did not write this review. I was so excited to come here, especially after driving by (the previous day) and seeing the creative and fun decor. My husband arrived thinking there would be brunch (on a Monday), but no! Instead of feeling welcome, we were handed a menu and the young lady told us that she's the only one there and that ordering food would take awhile because again, she's the only one there. So, we didn't really feel like she was interested in serving us at all. What is the point of this place being open so early, if they didn't willingly serve food during the day? When we told her that we were going to leave, she perked up and said, "thank y'all". If you're into daytime drinking, then perhaps this is the place for you, but it seems like it is only really poppin' during the evening time. Loved the artsy atmosphere though and wish I could have spent more time there. The outdoor patio was covered for the most part, so it seems like a fun place to hang out with friends. Artmosphere is one of my favorite hang-out places after 5. It's a really cool and laid back place to hang out, and you'll find a lot of local artists/bands playing there. The patio area is really awesome for just hanging out and drinking. The food is ok, but don't go there during the day or you'll get terrible service. I went there once and didn't even receive my food or a drink refill. The artichoke pizza is out of this world when paired with a dark brewed beer. I usually come here at night to hang out on the deck outside and have some beers, but it's also a great place to go for lunch. Eating lunch on the deck in the shade on their comfy chairs and couches makes for an awesome break from work, but the service is hit or miss during the day. read more

Service was "OK", I wouldn't call this a service-based establishment, but it's a bar so what the heck. The venue is great for sound, and ambiance. They have a sound-guy which is always a treat for musicians as well as patrons. Nothing better than someone behind a board who knows what they're doing, and isn't trying to kill the patrons with crappy sound. Thank you sound guy, you were awesome (sorry forgot his name!) The food was actually really good and tasty, drinks were reasonably priced, and surprisingly they had decent wine (for those of us who pass on the bloaty beer barge and opt for wine). The server got our food order wrong, like only had half of it, and then attempted to say that we didn't order what we did....but alas...here's the receipt, now bring me the rest of our order. This is my preferred bar in Lafayette because it has good (bar) food, a good beer selection, and depending on the time you go, good atmosphere. I'm not a huge fan of the place when it's super crowded and smokey, but I'm not much of a typical "bar-person" to begin with. Features: -Decent prices all around - cover, drinks, and food -Good service, albeit a bit slow at times -Eclectic mix of bar food. (try the Cheechs Up In Smoke wrap, the Mediterranean pizza, the quesadillas, and the spinach dip) Mostly everything I've had was good. -There's plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. -Chalkboard tables outside to draw on. -Paper covered tables inside to draw on. -Live music every night, as well as "Open Mic" night on Tuesdays. -Good mix of music when there's no band playing -They also have hookas to smoke on if that's your thing. I love this place! Went here on my first trip to Lafayette. First thing I noticed--very cool atmosphere, lots of arty graphics on the walls. Second thing I noticed--very friendly staff and patrons... though I went around 7 on a weeknight and it was pretty empty. There's lots of outdoor seating, a couple bars and seating inside and a stage for live music -- "experimental" dub nights Wednesdays, other shows the rest of the weekend. When I walked in they were blasting M.I.A. For food, I had the "Art a Deal yuh", a veggie wrap which came out looking like a quesadilla... it was absolutely delicious. Especially if you like artichokes and don't eat meat. If I lived any closer to Lafayette, I would come here twice a week. AWESOME. read more

The food was, by no means, bad... But it was certainly unimpressive to say the least. We went on a Sunday looking for a brunch-type meal. They had a brunch menu with several items on it. We got the breakfast enchiladas. They were so-so. They had boiled, not scrambled, eggs in them, which was strange. My understanding of an enchilada is that it's a corn tortilla with sauce over it. This was more like a burrito, as it had a flour tortilla and no sauce, only melted cheese on top. Again, it was okay, but I was expecting much better. We also got the taquitos which were virtually identical to the "enchiladas." Taquitos are generally deep-fried and crunchy corn tortillas... These were wrapped flour tortillas that had been seared. They were definitely tasty but they weren't taquitos. They actually tasted just like Taco Bell 5 layer burrito... Which is good... But they were $6, not 89 cents... We also got jambalaya, which was actually just dirty (and extremely greasy) rice with two pieces of sliced sausage. When the server came to clear the table when we finished, he actually mistook it for gumbo, as it was white rice in a pool of grease, which resembled roux. I honestly think they just had dirty rice on hand and put the sausage in it and called it jambalaya. Again, it was tasty but definitely sub par for Lafayette and definitely inappropriately named. The "build your own Bloody Mary bar" was also disappointing. $7 for half a plastic cup of Skol vodka and your choice of Clamato or some "Cajun" Bloody Mary mix and some okra, olives, green beans and bacon bits (not bacon,... Bacon bits). I realize this place isn't really trying to lure people in with their good food.. Artmosphere is obviously more about the quirky decor and intimate venue (the band was actually pretty good) than a culinary experience. It was just a little crazy that all the items we ordered didn't resemble the definition of those basic items. Again, they tasted really good, but they weren't what they said they were and were definitely sub par for Lafayette. It might have been more appealing to me had it been 2am and I very intoxicated (because it was definitely greasy bar food).... But it was 2pm on a Sunday afternoon and we wanted brunch. We might go back but only to drink or for a bite after a loooong night out. read more

This is one of those, "we didn't eat any food" reviews, so maybe the stars would change if I tried the food? Here's what we liked - the friendly, efficient bartender; the friendly people sitting at the bar; the art all over the walls and the lights outside. I lived in Austin, TX for most of my life and have since relocated to Columbia, SC. I miss funky spaces with lots of art, fun lights, and outdoor sitting (a la Spiderhouse in ATX). This place felt like home. It was visually stimulating and a great place to have a drink with my love and just chat. We may make Lafayette our "go to" place to stop on our trips back home (in either direction, as both ATX and Columbia feel like home n ow). Part of our reason is this cool little spot. read more

Went here for a concert one night with a group of people I had just met, and had a great time! We sat outside at first drawing with chalk on one of the chalkboard-covered tables. Was pretty entertaining for a while. I like the vibe of the patio too. There were some people smoking hookah- very chill, relaxing space. Then closer to when the band was going to play, we headed inside. It's small but intimate for a live music setting. And definitely lives up to its name with the artsy atmosphere. Brass Mimosa was one of the bands that played. Amazing. Enjoyed every minute of it. My only complaint is the bar was always crowded and hard to access for a beer, and it took a while until the bartender took my drink order. But other than that it was great, such an awesome spot that reminded me of being back in Seattle :) read more

My friend and I passed through Lafayette on a Friday night and drove around in search of something to eat. Artmosphere caught my eye because it seemed like it would be a quirky and fun. Indeed, the artmosphere (ha) is really chill and made me feel like I had time traveled to a college in the 1990s, which was fine with me because I've got loads of faux nostalgia for that time. The walls are covered in art of variable quality but overall the decor is pretty cool, and the music that played was a mix of 90s/early 00s indie which I love. We ended up sitting at the bar for hours, eating, drinking, and chatting with the locals. The staff was super friendly and efficient and the patrons were really friendly...they're a mix of the hip scene of Lafayette and older Cajun country folks so I had pretty interesting and diverse conversations. The food was just OK but reasonably priced and filled me up, which is what I was looking for. I didn't try the hookah because I don't smoke but the flavors looked pretty good and decently priced. Later in the night the music started and the band that played was great. After their set more people trickled in and the bar got really packed and had diversified to include some fratty folk, which is not really our scene so we left. In all, Artmosphere is a really fun place with nice, interesting people, good entertainment, and decent food. I'm in the Lafayette area for a few weeks and would add this to my list of places to frequent during my stay. read more

One of the best Bloody Marys I've ever had. The bartender, Andrew, was a young guy, but great at his craft. Perfectly blended spirits, and a great attitude. My wife's drink was great, too. I'm not sure why this place is listed as "CLOSED" on here, I just had lunch there last week. I am a native to the Lafayette area but have lived in Philadelphia since 2004. I return home each summer for a few weeks to visit family and friends. I think I spent more time and had the most fun in Lafayette than in Baton Rouge and New Orleans this time around mainly because of the abundance of casual cafe-style places like Artmostphere and Cafe Cottage. I was really impressed by this place for a few reasons. 1. It is within walking distance to other places near the UL campus which up until a few years ago was unseen. 2. The food is actually good AND reasonable priced. From what I heard the owner tries to change the menu with the seasons and offer vegetarian options. 3. The restaurant seamlessly transforms from a cute family friendly brunch/lunch at day to a decent nightlife venue. Atmostphere showcases and promotes local musicians and artists and was packed with regulars when I made my last visit. I hope more places like this appear and strive in Lafayette. read more

It's a place with a real Southern Louisiana flair with vibrant atmosphere and equalling popping outdoor seating. They have a multitude of inexpensive drinks and super-friendly workers. I've written to city council/local government officials to ask for a distance waiver. One comment/critique: I was there last week at night. I felt that the guy behind the bar was a bit impersonal, aloof; his (im)maturity spoke to me. Or downright ugly, just a bit clueless on how to engage patrons. He brought me my order and said, "what did you order--" which I told him..he then placed it on my table and said, "well, here it is." Not ugly at all, just a bit befuddled, lost, disengaged. Tighten up! But I know, working in the service industry, I've been there. We've all been there. Just don't make it a habit. I went there for new years eve and left a little aggravated. The cover was 12 bucks for an average band (which ok it was new years), the bartenders (bless their hearts) were a little snooty and air heady, but the first one I had was sweet. Theyre one of those places though that do the 10$ minimum BS. I don't know why but that makes my blood boil. I ordered a drink and the chick comes back IT'S A 10$ MINUMIM LOL, I'm like I just wanted a drink, not a box of gold, and she looked at me like she could give a crap. So I fished out some cash and rolled out. It's like if you don't want to pay the 50 damn cents to accept a 21st century form of currency just say CREDIT CARDS NOT ACCEPTED HERE, instead of the ole' bait and switch. The place is kinda a dump on the inside, reminds me of a house in New Iberia. It's always pricey cover for crap bands. Maybe I'm just being snotty because of the 10$ minimum thing, but overall I'd go someplace that doesn't try to cheat their customers. read more

The place has had some renovations recently, a new menu, and also a bunch of new employees. The music is fun. Check out Sundays for brunch, there is live music and a do it yourself bloody mary bar. I shit you not. haha karaoke monday open mic tuesday and live music the rest of the week.. Where else will you find that in Lafayette? WIth new people booking the music, the styles and variety have changed slightly, but a lot of the old Laffy favorites still swing by from time to time. The food is a nice upgrade from your typical bar. The wraps are pretty tasty and the pizzas rock. Burger is good. I like to head there during the afternoons and get a hookah on the deck. It makes for a great homework or task accomplishing scene. BEST Draft selection in town, hands down. Also plenty of great bottled brews to choose from. I've come here a few times and always had a good time though. I find the cover tends to be a bit high for the bands you are seeing and the place can be overly loud, but it is still enjoyable. It tends to be a bit more of a hipster crowd, but is frequented by all types. If you are looking for a place a little different than most of the bars in Lafayette, this may be it. read more

I enjoy going to this venue on a random weekday. It's always a surprise to see what type of music/band is playing, which can be good or bad. if you have an open mind, then it should be fine. I don't remember paying a cover for myself, but I think males have to pay a small cover some nights. The crowd varies. Most of the time it's not very packed. The scene includes hipsters, artists, and others. When you walk in, there is a small stage. There is also a lounge area with couches, booths, and chairs for seating. The small bar is towards the back. There is always different art displayed throughout. Outside is the patio area that surrounds the building in which you can smoke hookah. My favorite spot is the back patio where there is this swinging bench. I sit back with a drink and hookah in hand, and life is good. The drinks are mediocre.
