I love how beautiful the stairwell is going up to two. I love how much they have expanded their food and beverage line up over the years. The sound tends to be pretty good, the communication from the theatre is always amazing. They waive fees if you come to the box office to buy your tickets. The seats are comfy and almost every seat has a solid view. The box seats are the exception so be warned. The volunteers are always amazing and they are so nice. It would be cool if they opened a second location that served coffee because that line for espresso beverages is always really long. I love the breadth of show types. There's always something for everyone.

Wednesday, March 18, 2026…read more Front Row, Center Tickets to Ms. Diana Ross' Concert Performance I've been to numerous events at the Dr. Phillips Center but nothing beats having the opportunity to see a legend perform within arms-length to where you're seated. And when that "Icon of Icons" is none other than Ms. Diana Ross...well, nothing else need be said. It was a dream come true to say the least. In my most previous update of the Dr. Phillips Center I indicated meeting with and having my photograph taken with the incredible soprano Sarah Brightman was an entertainment highlight of 2025. 2026 has just begun but I will have to use the superlative "spectacular" once again. As in a spectacular show from start to finish. Diana Ross may be 81 years old!...but she still has the voice and ahem...the moves of a much younger performer. Just think of this, she was performing with the Supremes in the 1960's. I wasn't even born and by the time I was she had 12 number one singles with the OG of girl groups! And she is still working it to this day. Ms. Ross sung a multitude of her hits which kept the crowd, and my sister and I, dancing and singing throughout the evening. However, when she started to belt out Gloria Gaynor's anthem "I Will Survive" that really got the audience out of their seats. An Icon singing and Iconic piece of music is an experience second to none. Ms. Ross, you and your mark on music history is unmatched...blessings to you and your family!

Sunday, February 15, 2026…read more Every year Opera Orlando holds a Valentine's fundraising event to support it's mission. As its been in the recent past, the function takes place at the home of John & Audrey R., who are significant benefactors to the Opera and the arts in Orlando. I was honored to be able to take part in the festivities and was accompanied by my sister and Kimberley K. Prior to entering the residence, Opera Orlando staff welcomed us and checked us in. And upon setting foot in the home you were greeted by a beautiful palette of reds, pinks, and whites invoking the themes of passion and sweetness, which thoughtfully connected to the "La Traviata" opera selections which we were going to experience later in the afternoon. The luncheon began with passed hors d'oeuvres of Deviled Eggs and Mini-Empanadas. Likewise, as in years past, the foodie hits again made their appearance. A Steakhouse Martini was served which included Grilled Flank Steak with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes. Not to be outdone, a Chicken & Waffles option was also available. I can never turn down either of these delightful and tasty dishes and give a two-thumbs up to Arthur's Catering for preparing and serving that day's cuisine. However, the high point of the afternoon was the scaled down version of La Traviata performed in the foyer of the grand residence. Experiencing opera in Steinmetz Hall at the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando is one thing but having the opportunity to hear opera voices reverberate in someone's abode is something completely different and awe inspiring. Having the ability to get up close and personal with the artists and meeting them afterwards is a special treat which I always appreciate. The arts, in all its forms, plays a integral role in my life. It not only can stimulate and energize the senses but also can make us connect with others and share emotions. Because of that, my support of the arts will always be a part of my being.

This was not just any gathering. It was a once a year Valentine event honoring the top supporters of the arts, and I felt deeply honored to be included. The home itself was massive and truly estately, the kind of residence that feels designed for grand entertaining. Chairs were carefully arranged for about sixty guests, creating an intimate concert setting within this extraordinary space. There was something incredibly moving about knowing that this performance was being offered specifically in gratitude to those who help sustain the arts in our community. The program featured a shorter version of La Traviata, perfectly chosen for Valentine's Day. Being that close to the performers made the experience almost surreal. Sarah Joy Miller, David Miller, Gabriel Preisser, Nathan Cicero, and Jana Kaminsky delivered performances that were both powerful and deeply personal. In such an intimate setting, every note felt immediate and alive. You could sense the breath behind the phrasing, the emotion behind the words. The music truly swept me off my feet. The afternoon was beautifully curated, from the elegant hors d'oeuvres to the thoughtful details throughout the home. It was refined without feeling stiff, celebratory without feeling overdone. I made sure to dress the part and wore my Sunday best, because an occasion like this deserves respect and care. There is something very special about being in a room filled with people who value and support the arts at that level. I left feeling inspired, grateful, and incredibly fortunate to have been invited into such a meaningful celebration. It was a lovely afternoon in every sense of the word, and one I will not soon forget.

This spot shows new, classic and art house films. It's also a great place to watch Oscar nominated films. There will often be series viewing for nominations in special categories. I'll mention that service is not as attentive as you would expect at a typical restaurant, as you are also watching a movie, so I'm sure it is to keep interruptions minimized. Today, I had a vegetarian wrap with French fries (and of course tasty popcorn!); all were very good. I especially like the fries they serve here, with a battered style coating that keeps the outside crispy, but with a soft interior. The one thing I've noticed is that some of the seats are getting a little worn.

I really didnt walk throughout the venue to see it all. My seat was an orchestra seat with a up close and excellent view of the stage. Once i was seated i noticed the stage curtain and seating was dated the seats a red velvet material. Not much room to move around in the seat but plenty infront for others to pass to reach their seat. The concert and sound was AMAZING! I have loved Anita over 30yrs. I hear there is a new theatre near by. I would not have cared if Bob Carr theatre was missing the roof. I was here to hear the sounds of a legend. The concert was all that and some. It was packed! I met fans who flew in from Denmark and all over for this special night. There was No seat left empty! There were no dust particles flying thru the air, just the beautiful sounds of the band and the sultry voice of Anita! I would do it all over again. Once the concert started i never sat down longer than 15 seconds anyway. If i didnt dance a hole in the floor that night i think Bob Carr is built to withstand anything.

In terms of acoustics, I couldn't believe this was a live performance. However, the auditorium is able to seat many people, there is an on-site bar that sells a variety of beverages and sweet snacks/nut blends, and all staff I encountered every step of the way from parking, tickets, bar cashier, to door attendants were kind and efficient. If there is a show/performance I wanted to experience, of course I would return. Note: Alcohol is not permitted in the auditorium.
