As stated before, I hardly ever review. I have to feel VERY strongly about someplace before I'll…read morewrite a review. I feel very strongly about this place, and I'm tired of seeing the negative griping reviews about dumb stuff, so now I'll leave an opinion. First of all, yeah, it IS expensive. However, I don't understand why people who are actual members of the club would complain about this. It's not like they tranquilize you, haul you in the door, and then get you to sign a contract that you've never seen the price on. No one makes you hand over the credit card. The price isn't a surprise. There are gyms for everyone, in all price ranges. So here's the deal, if you think it's too expensive, then DON'T PAY FOR IT. Don't complain about it. Just go somewhere else. You can do bare bones ten bucks a month at some local chain gyms. However, I'm pretty sure the people who are complaining about how expensive HT is, would go to one of those and complain about how dirty it is or the lack of amenities or something. Secondly, yeah, there are a lot of kids. Kids are people. They are small people, but they're people nonetheless. We pay dues for our children, just like we pay dues for ourselves, so they have every right to be there. Some of us pay the expensive price BECAUSE of our kids. The child care is stellar. I actually found HT by typing "gyms with child care that doesn't suck" into Google. True story. If you're all good with a teenager in a back room watching your kids, or you don't have kids to watch, then maybe you should go to aforementioned chain gym for ten bucks a month. I digress... The staff genuinely care about the children. They get books and crafts and outdoor play time. Is it really that big of a deal that you can hear happy children playing while you're upstairs? I find the dude trying to lift 50 pounds more than he really can, grunting, yelling, and dropping shit to be far more annoying. BUT! Be glad, for there is a solution. Put in a pair of earbuds and listen to some music. Voila, problem solved. You're welcome. I also find it astonishing that people are complaining because people are *gasp* USING the track. It really sucks that they're in your way. But people are at all levels of fit, and not everyone has your running prowess. Some people walk. Some people jog. Some people run damned fast. Some people walk in pairs. Like everywhere else, if you are coming around a corner, and someone is in your lane, you simply need to call out, "On your left", and people will move over. I know it's hard to accept that you aren't the only person in the world, but well...you're not. And as for the people complaining about the large amounts of fat people and old people, well shame on you. You should be jumping up and down for joy. People are getting fit. Losing weight. Taking care of themselves well into old age. Much less of your precious tax dollars you'll have to spend later on taking care of "sick fat old people". Just sayin'. Clearly, I love this place. The child care staff is great. I can take my toddlers into the pool. I can relax in the hot tub post personal training session. I love that the staff is so hugely diverse - so many different ethnicities, both genders, all sizes, a wide range of ages. The staff is friendly, professional, and fun. The personal trainers are a.m.a.z.i.n.g.!! They'll help you and answer questions, even if you aren't in one of their classes or paying them for private sessions. And when you do sign on, they tailor activities just for you and your skill set, and then they push you hard, past what you could do and into what you are capable of doing. Signing up for personal training sessions was one of the best things I've ever done. There's a salon (Billie gives a mean haircut!) and spa. Hot tubs, two pools, sauna, steam room. There is shampoo, soap, and conditioner in the showers. Towels are provided. There's a pro shop and cafe/juice bar. There are SO MANY classes to choose from. There are, blow dryers, q-tips, deodorant, and combs provided in the locker room. There are several curtained off, private dressing stations in the locker room, as well, for the more modest among us. It's always clean. It's nicely decorated. I really don't understand people who continue to pay and still complain. It's not like getting a shitty meal at a restaurant. You complain. You make your unhappiness known. Then you DON'T GO BACK. Why keep paying the high dues, keep showing up to someplace you obviously think has so many flaws, and keep complaining about it. Of course, you're allowed to not like the place. You're allowed to think they do everything wrong. But if that's the case, then WHY do you go back? Yup. Don't get it. Wow this is long. TL;DR: It's a great place. The dues are high, but as the saying goes, you do get what you pay for. All the people complaining about trivial and petty things are entitled whiny wankers.

For this reason I like having tour guides. Going up the river was fine. Coming back went a bit sour. I went as slow as I was capable of paddling or not paddling, but apparently it was too fast for the preference of our tour guide. I was barely touching the water with my paddle. I have no idea how I could have gone any slower. It wasn't humanly possible. After shouting at me several times, he took to chasing me down and ramming my kayak so it'd spin in circles. Would I rent a kayak here and kayak the river alone? Yes. Would I personally use a tour guide here? No I wouldn't. Would I recommend? If you're a family with little kids or a drunk sorority house, absolutely. If you know what you're doing, just go it alone. You'll probably enjoy it more. Edit: If the tour guide had concerns for group safety, he could have said so. Although ramming my kayak with his seems to be a bit of a conflict as far as my safety goes. It was an unprofessional approach when he could have simply explained why he needed me to slow down

Enjoyed the cliff walls of Buffalo Rock and the shallow waters of some side passages. We paddled for 5 hours, covering 8 miles total. After we were done we headed to charming, historic downtown Utica for drinks and dinner at Skoog's Pub & Grill in North Utica, IL. I was impressed with the logistics and operation of the kayaking experience, from the guide* to the equipment and online booking process. *Full disclosure, the guide was my twin sister, but I am being objective...seriously.

She did a very nice job, and seemed to be well received by her coworkers, and the audience. Finding Wheaton Drama was a little hard, and parking was a little tight, I didn't mind the walk. But the employees there were very friendly, and enthusiastic. Nothing there was overly priced or outrageous. I would go again. As I said before, the theater is a little on the smaller side and people in the front row tend to find themselves actually walking on the stage as they enter & exit which almost seems rather discourteous since they have lines painted on the floor. I just think that that's bad luck even though it's concrete and it's painted, I tried to make sure that I was definitely off the designated stage area because I think thats asking for bad karma. But in today's world , people are so full of themselves that there are no boundaries anymore.
