I toured a few other studios in the foothills area and there were many differentiating factors to note. I toured another place next to the coffee shop I frequent daily and while it would have been convenient for me to enroll my kids in that art studio, I shadowed the class and knew it would not allow my children to explore their creativity as all students were doing the same exact art and not exploring with different mediums. This art studio is very large with various areas exploring different mediums of art. You have kids doing paper mache, experimenting with clay and pottery, paint, water color, sketching, other arts and crafts....the list goes on! I love when they are playing music in the background - I think it helps the kids find their rhythm. All the staff are remarkable and SO great with kids! They have a very well organized art gallery every year and it is something we look forward to attending. My son has been coming here for a year and a half and my daughter started today! I know it says age 6 and up online but both my kids started under age 6 and have been doing great! My son even made his own space inspired Dr. Seuss book! The staff print out photos my son likes (of all things space) and then they work on things that inspire him. I am so happy my daughter will be starting here, too. I think art is a great way for kids to be creative and use their imagination.

I loved the materials they used, the creativity they both employed and encouraged, and the patience they exhibited with the kids. So when my daughter wanted to enroll in art classes, it was a no-brainer. Of course I was going to send her to The Art Room. Class sizes are small, the room is intimate but spacious, and instruction is personalized and very, very good. She consistently came home with beautiful artwork and learned about and applied new techniques with each class, including a lovely "under the sea" watercolor using salt to create bubbles. The Montrose team went above and beyond to develop a portraiture curriculum which she has pursued for the last 3+ years. In addition, the staff has helped us find solutions to accommodate scheduling conflicts that impacted her regular classes. She has developed strong relationships with multiple teachers, all of whom have been incredibly supportive and invested in her art journey. And she texted me, "You look like you have no experience. You don't know how to appeal yourself and looks like you have that kind of sense. It's important because you need some sensitivity to treat kids." So I tried to text her back and she just blocked me... So she knew that she was being rude but she still texted me with that attitude. She judged someone with one question and she knew she was being rude but she didn't mind. This kind of person shouldn't be a teacher for kids... I can't believe what just happened.

They promised a refund, but I never received it until I followed up multiple times, and eventually they gave me a credit instead. * The second time, I showed up and the door was closed with nobody there. Again, I didn't receive the credit until I reached out a second time. * The third time, my class was once again canceled last minute. At that point, I decided I was done and had to request a refund again. It's very frustrating to plan my schedule, drive over, and arrive ready for class only to find cancellations without proper communication or timely refunds. It was a teacher who plays a Spotify list of songs and then you put on different hats to each song while they do hand motions to the song. It was SUCH a SAD excuse for a music class, esp after having experienced Lovebug and Bloom. Also, The elephant hat smelled so bad I couldn't put it on. It was disgusting. They really need to either get some new hats or wash them or something. It smelled like wet dog. Overall, this place seemed kind of rundown. I will never be back because why would I spend money in a place with a zero customer service and subpar classes?
