My mother's remains were handled by A. S. Turner (August 2016) and we could not have been happier with the services rendered by the staff, particularly Ms. Emma Gosa. Ms. Gosa handled all arrangements with us. She also prepared my mother's body and our Mom looked absolutely beautiful. Everyone commented on how lovely our Mother appeared. We had a perfect viewing at the funeral home. This funeral home is located in a beautiful, park-like location, which was very nice for the viewing. They handled the transfer to the church and then to the National Cemetery. Note that if you are burying a military person they have very nice service plaques for each service that can be put at the interior top of the coffin. Ms. Gosa understood our financial needs and did not try to "up-sell" anything at all. Of note, they did not try to sell us a "procession" that every other funeral home said was required and at over $1000, too. The other funeral homes we evaluated cost at least double our end cost at Turner's. Definitely consider A.J. Turner's for your loved one's last care. They were spectacular for our family. read more

All the women I worked with at AS Turner and Sons were wonderful. Very helpful through the entire process to cremation, picking out an urn, picking up the remains. But I had a bad experience with Nick. I think he hates his job so inflicts some of that pain on people he talks to. Upsetting. I would suggest to AS Turner that they keep him off all calls. My grandfather died in 2019 and this negligent funeral home gave his cremated remains away to the wrong person. I am a death care professional, and if I had done something so stupid, I'd be fired immediately. If you want your loved one cremated remains back, don't use this disgusting funeral home. I have now been in a legal battle with the nasty woman they released them to and I am probably never getting him back. My grandfather raised me, and now his death memory will forever be tainted because of A&S Turner & Sons funeral home. Worst funeral experience I have ever had. read more

I couldn't be more upset or disappointed with this miserably unprofessional outfit. My mother died yesterday, after a long illness, in my home, surrounded by family. No one can wish for better. A hospice nurse mentioned Turner as a nearby funeral home, saying she couldn't officially recommend them, but she'd heard of them. We are new in the area and didn't know any place else, so we called. A young man and woman arrived to take the body. The guy muttered "Sorry for your loss", the woman never spoke a word. (He was the LAST Turner employee to express ANY condolences whatsoever.) When I said that my mother wished to be cremated, and have no service, the man began to argue. He looked at my mother's durable power of attorney, assignment of agent for disposition of remains and advance directive, and said that he didn't know if any of that would be good enough, "but it's up to my manager!" Manager? I felt like I was buying a used car. My husband made copies of the assignment of agent papers and the man took them with him. An hour later Michelle from A. S. Turner called and asked me when I would come in to sign papers. I said I would be there at 10 AM the next day. That's TODAY, and I was there at 10 AM. It's a huge place and I wandered around until I found a reception desk. The older, male receptionist stood up and asked if he could help me, and I said my name and that I had an appointment. He asked, "Is this for aftercare or ...?" and I said, "My mother died yesterday". He replied with a cheery, "Okay!" and led me to a cubicle. I waited 10 minutes, thinking no one had written the appointment down. Then Michelle stuck her head in, cheerily introduced herself and slammed down a folder. I'm going to seriously condense the next hour. A.S. Turner REFUSED to honor my mother's wishes for a cremation without a service. Michelle took each of my documents in turn and ran out of the room to consult with her "manager" (Do you want the undercoating with that?) and came back each time saying it was no good. They wanted signatures from all 4 of my siblings, who live in FL, TX, CA and NY, and one of whom hasn't spoken to any family member in almost 20 years! I drove home and faxed MORE documents in, and Michelle said that her mysterious "manager" would call me soon. I waited from 11 AM until 2:30 PM and then I called another downtown funeral home. The man I spoke with there urged me to speak directly to E-- M--, the managing director of Turner, and give them another chance. He said his company would NOT have a problem with my documentation, but, well, honor amongst thieves and all that. So I called Turner and asked for Mr M--. The receptionist checked and told me Mr M-- wasn't in and could he help me. By this time I was so distraught I started to cry, and suddenly Mr M-- WAS in! M-- was the most pompous, sanctimonious, possibly cruel man I've ever spoken to. Of all the people to be in his profession - I guess he's cracked! He was rude to me and said, "If your sister wants to sue us, she has just as many rights as you have!" But the documents my mother signed, and had notarized and witnessed, AND the state of Georgia say otherwise! Even after I consulted my lawyer, Turner refused to comply! The end of this story? I called Medford-Peden Funeral Home, the tiny place in Cobb County that handled my daughter's cremation when we lost her 10 years ago. I faxed them the documents and they said there was no problem with any of them. They are on their way to collect my mother's remains, and I'm researching the legislative system in this state which oversees the conduct of funeral homes. BTW, none of my siblings has any objection to cremation, and ALL know that these were our mother's wishes. read more

My name is Ronald Revis I am the husband of Cynthia Revis.My mother inlaw Mrs Linda Chambers Went home to be with our Lord July 23 2018.My wife's family has used AS Turner and Sons for many many years .My wife and myself and our daughter and son-in-law went and made funeral arrangements July 24 th .My mother inlaws funeral was July 26 the.My wife had heard that 2 women had showed up at the funeral uninvited infact my mother-in-law had actually been treated horribly by the 2 women who were the ex daughter in-law and her mother.My wife had sent our daughter and another close relative to ask the funeral home staff to ask them to leave stating that they were trouble makers but my daughter was told that was the family's place to do that.My daughter and the other lady politely asked them to leave and they then started yelling and screaming making a scene outside the room my mother-in-law was in where me and my wife and other family members were .My wife waled out in the hall and both of the women started attacking my wife . When I walked out in the hallway I couldn't even see my wife there was a crowd of people standing around and two of the funeral home men were standing there with there arms stretched out trying to keep anyone from getting through and when I saw my wife who is a Stage 3 cancer survivor on the floor being beaten by those two women I began to push my way through the men and I had to reach down to get hold of my wife's arm to help her I told the women DO NOT HIT HER AGAIN .I was at the very least infuriated.I couldn't believe what I had witnessed and neither could my wife's family and friends.I am disgusted with AS Turner and Sons. My wife has been devastated and she nor I will ever be able to forget this. read more

He took care of all the arrangements and treated our mother with the utmost care and respect. He made the entire process bearable. read more

I called this funeral home to get a recommendation for a florist, as I live in Miami needed to send a floral arrangement to a funeral I could not attend. Based on a recommendation by Rick, I ordered flowers from White Garden Flowers Florist. It was recommended that I speak with Uki, which I did, and she advised I would be sent a picture of the arrangement I ordered the morning of the funeral. I also requested a card be included which stated our sentiment and our name. I never received a picture from White Garden but my son did send me a picture and I saw there was no card included. I called the funeral home and spoke to Michael, who called the florist and said a card would be coming but he would put a makeshift card in the arrangement. He also said the florist would be calling me, presumably to explain/apologize for the lapse. No card was ever sent and I never received a phone call from them. I thought I could trust the florist the funeral home recommended. Apparently not. This was obviously a poor recommendation and I would suggest they drop this florist from their list. read more

Horrified by the experience my family went through with this funeral home at such a sensitive time dealing with the death of a beloved husband and father. We were given a new employee, we were told, to plan our loved one's funeral. The new employee had a trainer with him (much like a visit to a fast food restaurant). At the start, I don't think he could have destroyed the obituary any more than he did, though he seemed to struggle with how to use the company software. I visited the funeral home to follow up on the obituary mistakes. There I was greeted by someone who said their excuse for poor service was that they had many people with differing views on how to write an obituary. One would think accuracy would top the list of concerns when preparing an obituary, but this was obviously of no concern to them. What I gathered was that they were too busy to be bothered by any family issues, though at the time there were only 2 cars in the parking lot, 2 employees in the building, and no visitation or funeral taking place (a point to note on a busy Saturday for other funeral homes). I genuinely was worried, based upon the treatment my family received, that we would not have the correct body in the casket at the time of the service. Then, at the service this same employee was unaware of how to seat the family, placing the surviving spouse the furthest distance from the casket. He tried to correct the situation, but at best made for a laughing moment. Even at the cemetery he struggled to place the casket on the frame over the gravesite, then tripped over the frame having to desperately grab hold of the casket to prevent any further tragedy. When I mentioned to another employee the mistakes made by this one new employee, their excuse was that Mr. X was just being Mr. X. Boys will be boys; I suppose was their answer. I won't name him to save him the embarrassment given he almost landed inside the grave. I sit here now, the day after the funeral, thinking our dear loved one may have just given him a little nudge. For a business that should be built upon compassion and caring, we learned that this funeral home is just a greedy business with a service mentality no different than Taco Bell. read more
