Great service. I bought three trees and a bush in late February and we had a freeze all are okay but one tree (the one that's supposed to be the heartiest is struggling but still going. I took off one star only because they said my delivery was scheduled between 8-11 and they arrived at 6:20 AM. Of course we accommodated and they are a good company if work with again. read more

This place felt like a real working farm. I was helped immediately and taken to the different growing areas to select the veggies that I wanted. I recently built some beautiful raised garden beds and have been looking around for a local business to purchase veggies to transplant. I pull in to Asshole Nursery amongst dead plants with nobody in site. I walked in and out of the greenhouses hoping to run into somebody who can point me in the right direction. The majority of the plants and vegetable aren't marked. When I finally run into somebody I asked about where I could find onions and bell peppers. He points over in the direction of 1000+ plants and says you'll find them over there. I asked if he could show me what they look like (I know what an onion looks like on a shelf...not a gardener). He said you know what they look like, and gave me a disgusted look. I told him I'm new to home gardening and he continued to give me attitude. I let him know his service sucks and took my business else where. DO NOT SHOP HERE! read more

Asahi Nursery the best around. Family run and the prices can't be beat. Veggies 4" $2 and flowers 4" $1 six packs are $2. You have to go check it out. Box stores charge $7 for the same. Food is expensive so grow your own ! What I really like is he has such a huge variety of food, flowers and trees. When you go to the box stores, they have tomatoes, peppers and zucchini. He has entire greenhouses full of the good stuff. One was full of your leafy greens like spinach, kale collard greens, arugula and more, and also tons of herbs. Not just basil and thyme. He has oregano, dill, cilantro thyme, basil and more. You can grow your own salad bar and make your own dressing. I bought 3, 6packs spent $6 and I have some fresh green for my salad every day. Another green house with what I call vine veggies, like several types of cucumber Japanese, Armenian, lemon, canning and more, and squash like acorn, zucchini, crookneck, beans (vine and Bush different colors), melons several varieties. So you get your side dish and dessert. Then another full of your store veggies like eggplant (few different kinds), Okra, Tomatillo, many varieties of tomatoes with many colors,heirloom and canning type. Small pop in your mouth when you're sitting in your yard or slice it in a sandwich size. More peppers than I can name bells in several colors, Jalapeños, Ancho, yellow wax, serrano you get what I'm saying. He's great at explaining how to plant and we even shared recipes. I ran across this place because a guy in a truck in front of me at a gas station had tons of veggies and I could tell it was not Box store veggies. 2021 DON'T BE FOOLED by Their cheap price. Asahi Nursery...Me, my mom, and my grandma shopped there due to their diverse selection of vegetable sprouts and flowers. The man who worked there was unprofessional. Although it was outdoors, he was not wearing a mask. My grandma has been an extremely loyal customer in the past few years; both her and her friend have gotten a discount of 3 for $5 (whole sale price). But this year when we went, the man refused to give us the same price and lied about never selling this price in past 10 years. And he had shown no respect to customer. We tried to be polite, and it wasn't about the price. It was about their DISHONESTY and not giving us a straightforward answer why it is different this year. We weren't treated fairly at all. read more

Hired them to do the maintenance on Our yard-front and back. They come once a week and do a good job. I've had to call a couple of times to remind them to pull weeds etc- Which is why they get 4 stars-that's frustrating but I have yet to meet a gardener that you can just let loose. The yard has no grass and has drought tolerant plants and palm trees. It's low maintenance for sure. But he shows up and the job gets done. read more

I just moved to Brentwood - and my garden and my irrigation system needed work. I was told about Asahi Nursery and Carlos Hernandez -- and I read the reviews in Yelp - so I thought that this would be a good experience. WRONG! At first, Carlos seemed great. He and his guys cleaned out the old plants in my garden, pruned the roses and planted some plants for me. We talked about what plants he recommended - he was going to be my gardener - and my garden would bloom. He also replaced my irrigation/drip watering system. $800 later - the irrigation system did NOT work properly, it leaked massively - and he did not install pressure regulators on the valves. Carlos has NEVER responded to my calls or texts. Today - I am having the entire irrigation system redone by a professional irrigation contractor - for another $995. I am NOT happy. I plan to ask Carlos to reimburse me for half of the $800 that I paid him - which is generous on my part. If he does not reimburse me - I will see him in Small Claims Court. And, as for gardening skills - I asked him specifically if he needed to add soil amendments when planting. He said 'no' and that the soil in my development is 'virgin' and the area was only previously used as an orchard. Wrong! I have since learned that the top soil was scraped off and sold before any building was done. So we are left with a very tough clay. Needless to say, nothing he planted for me is thriving. read more

Steer clear of this place for landscape work. Carlos does shady work. Refused to remove any dirt before putting in mulch and placed a skimpy inch on top of the dirt. He ripped out my weed stop barrier where the mulch was to be set while I wasn't home and said it will make the mulch fly around the yard if the wind picks up, now I'm pulling weeds weekly. Refuses to put in top soil on "virgin" ground "formerly orchards". Leaves you with lumpy lawns. read more

I had a really great experience with this nursery! The owner was nice and very knowledgeable and approachable. Great selection of veggie plants at a very reasonable price. It was about two dollars per tray of seedlings. that's much cheaper than big box stores outrages prices. All my plants were relatively healthy and with good soil and enough water these plants are sure to survive. For the amount of plants I bought it was $16 but he took off $6 because the plants were for a school project so it was only $10!!! ( don't expect this he probably didn't make anything off this transaction) I would caution the organic gardener as the prices were so cheap I'm expecting they use unnatural fertilizers. Overall I'm very satisfied with this nursery and will be coming back often it makes gardening much more affordable. I would recommend them too anyone! read more

We purchased 2 Crape Myrtle trees from this nursery and they have grown very happily in our yard. They were pruned to grow with many side branches instead of only one leader branch and I like that look better. The owner was very helpful and knowledgable. read more

I spent the day calling around to serveral nurserys in the area, I felt like everyone I called was not very helpful and didnt have a whole lot of info on my issue, with my pomegranate trees not producing fruit. I called Asahi nursery and spoke with CARLOS, not only was he very helpful but he was VERY knowledgeable about what was happening in this years fruit trees. With his info and help I am now confident that next year will produce fruit. looking forward to visiting this nursery in person and doing business...I HIGHLY reccomend this place.
