I've been coming to Secret Garden Designs since I moved to Brentwood. Since my last review, a few years ago, they've moved to a cute space downtown. From there, it's only gotten better! The store is spacious and well stocked with healthy plants that include some very unique varieties. They've included locally made goods from area artists such as jewelry and also stock some fun crystals and local honey. Check out their socials for fun events like Plant Bingo. During the farmers market downtown each Saturday, they open early. The people there are so kind and very knowledgeable. I will only buy my indoor plants here! I absolutely love this place it's literally a plant paradise right down the street from my son's school. If you're a plant lover, this is definitely the place to be. They have a great selection, and just a few weeks ago I picked up a neon pothos that's absolutely thriving. The cashier, Nathen, is super sweet, knowledgeable, and honest he really knows his plants. I decided to give this store another try. I needed a gift for a friend that LOVES plants. The choice was easy since there is such a wonderful selection. SO MANY beautiful and well cared for plants...some that are a little uncommon. As I chose my item, I went up front and got WONDERFUL service this time. I explained that I wasn't going to come back in the store because of my last experience. The woman that I spoke to was the owner of the plant side of the store. We had a nice chat that ended with us hugging. THIS is the kind of business the Brentwood needs! It's a family owned business that involves herself, her husband and her two sons. My daughter in law and I planned a trip here today and we had a wonderful time exploring all the plants and artwork they have. The staff was friendly and attentive. They had a good selection of house plants and we ended up buying a beautiful hoya as well as a bonzai plant. There happened to be a sale going on all weekend at 20% off, who could ask for more! When we first moved here, we visited this beautiful shop that also just opened and I had no idea about plants-I just needed one for my new home. Everyone here is welcoming and so informative on how to care for each plant. Almost two years later, my plant is still thriving so I added more to the family! Owners are so very friendly and you just tell them how your house is and they will recommend what plant to possibly get. Very friendly staff, clean, well-organized shop with great variety of plant species as well as other decorative and plant-core items. Really happy I found this place and that they're right here in town. I'm just getting started so I don't really yet know what and, "outrageous" price would be but everything seems to be within reason. If I'm spending a lot it's because I'm buying a lot. They also seem to sell a decent amount of wares from local artisans which is pretty cool. Those can be a little pricy, but I think it's the artisan and not secret garden that sets those prices. All in all I'm happy to support a local business, the plants I purchased from them are thriving and I would 10/10 recommend to anyone looking to get into or sustain their plant addiction. read more

Very cool. You can tell they take really good care of their plants. Everything is beautiful and well priced considering it's stuff that you don't really find in big box stores, it's well rooted and no fried or damaged leafs. I was in need for plants for bosses day! My boss absolutely loves plants and we all wanted to get her some gorgeous ones! The young man helping me I think he said he was the owners son (I am so sorry I didn't get his first name) was an absolute wealth of knowledge and helped me so much explain everything from lighting, to care, to what kind of plants etc etc he also pronounced each pant name perfectly which was amazing in itself! Got the most gorgeous and giant pink caladium from here today. Their stock includes lots of lovely plants that have new growth and perfect leaves, so it was very hard to decide what to take home! Staff are well informed, very helpful, and kind. I wish I visited earlier because their plants are so much more healthier and larger than many other places I've shopped at and the place is obviously well run. We moved to Brentwood from Martinez and the one and only thing I missed about Martinez was the indoor plant store called knots and found. So when I found secret garden nursery here in Brentwood I was beyond excited. Upon walking into the nursery you are taken back by the most BEAUTIFUL plants I absolutely have ever seen!!They also have the sweetest dried floral arrangements that would make a great gift. Today I found my all time favorite plant(besides my monstera's) but my next fav is the asparagus ferns. The one I found today was so beautiful I could of cried. Needless to say this Beauty is in her forever home. The owners are not only so kind, but lovely to talk to. They are incredibly knowledgeable too. This is a great family ran plant shop. The passion they have for their plants is what makes this plant shop different from any other I have ever been to. They have an incredible selection nicely displayed very clean and neat, the prices are the lowest I have seen, they have a great raffle giveaway and her instagram sale is like a slide show of "I want that too!" Was in here the day after Christmas. The staff who consisted of two young men, one I believe being the owners son were very nice and friendly. I'm a plant fiend and my cousin knows it so she showed me this place, small but great selection! I got a CALATHEA white star which I have had trouble finding in the Bay Area so I was excited to see it here. All their plants are in great shape.
