I leased a 7,000 Square Foot Townhouse in the UES of Manhattan at great expense, moved 750-800 boxes and furnishings into it and could never unpack! I couldn't wake up! After 2.5 months, I discovered mold in the basement bathroom on the floor of the shower. It was decided by several doctors that I was suffering extreme chronic fatigue from Airborne Toxic Black Mold exposure. I had constant headaches, bursting blood vessels in my eyes, terrible headaches, my whole body ached, I had short-term memory loss, my lungs ached, I wheezed and coughed constantly, etc., etc. It took me 2.5 months to identify the problem. I eventually found a sewerage back-up on the basement level that was covered with mold. Subsequently, it was determined that the sewer line was clogged, many, many places in the TH were infected with Airborne Toxic Black Mold due to long-term leaks EVERYWHERE throughout the property! The Owners/Landlord/Broker ALL attempted to hide the odor of the mold by placing over 100+ envelopes of heavily scented powder (sachets) throughout the Townhouse. I called ASAP Restoration late at night. I was horrified and scared. Abe, the Owner, rushed over the following morning to access the situation. He wanted to come the very next day to start remediating the mold. The owners refused to authorize and pay for his work. I ended up vacating the property as quickly as I could and wearing a respirator while at the property. Abe was very supportive throughout the ordeal advising me every step of the way. I knew he had my best interests at heart. When I was ready to move, Abe sent over his people to decontaminate every box - close to 800 of them! - and all of the furniture so that I didn't take the mold spores with me to my new home. I don't know who I would have trusted if not Abe. He's terrific as is his staff and office personnel. Everyone at ASAP Restoration is honest, trustworthy, hardworking and very personable. I called them to fix my water damage in the Bronx, but there was an issue when your team carelessly damaged tile that could not be replaced and failing to fix my kitchen properly I need a complete renovation, and despite your team's proposal my insurance rejected it. A total nightmare working with ASAP. They tried to take advantage and profit from a tragic incident that happen in my rented house. they convinced one of the survived relatives to hire them to clean the scene after his brother loss his life in the home. Originally they agreed to charge $4000. when asked for a written estimate they bumped it up to $5035 in desperation to get his over with we agreed to the new price later to find out they submitted another amount to the insurance in the excess of $21,000 with out consulting with the owner or the victims family. Complete unethical vouchers that stop at nothing to make a profit. Rick when as far as to tell the surviving victim that he knows what he went through because his uncle went through the same thing. These guys went ahead and basically did a demo job. Not a mitigation job. I flew up from Fl to find them tearing through the house . My sister in law game them the keys to do an estimate. House flooded from frozen pipe. Adjuster from AllState came and I could hear the friction in the conversation. Realizing nothing is approved from Allstate these scumbags kept reassuring me Allstate would pay out . By the 5th day frustrated not having gotten even an estimate I tossed these criminals out. Yes, criminals. The nightmare gets worse. We were in contract to sell. The house is gutted now. I hired a public adjuster . He was great. But it was too late ASAP did so many things wrong it screwed us up with Allstate . Claim denied . Good news is the buyer still wanted house and we just lowered the price a bit. But these mfers from Hades lien my home. How? No warning? No 30 days notice. We couldn't answer in court. We chose to pay the egregious 45 thousand lien. Can you imagine? ! Or we lose sale and house won't pass inspection. These guys will get there just due. A 70K loss all total. We still made a good Buck but that's not the point. It's a racket. It's criminal. SCUMBAGS. Hired ASAP Restoration due to flooding / water damage. They used a moisture detector that was picking up metal beams, claiming it was flooded on all corners of every wall. They cut a large hole into the wall which was 100% unnecessary, and charged the insurance company for extra blowers/dehumidifiers that did not work. About a month ago our business called ASAP Restoration (based on raving online reviews) to pickup and restore water damage that had occurred on a very small portion of our vintage oriental rug. Once called, two gentlemen quickly arrived, which impressed us. However, once we explained our needs, the time frame we desired, the care in which we expected these gentlemen to put forth to our vintage rug and their brash reluctancy made us very quickly eery of their services. What now seems like a third party, Rug Wash and ASAP Restoration are two businesses I do not recommend. They blatantly lied about the time frame we would receive our rug. 4 days turned into 2 weeks. They took the liberty of bleaching and painting our rug, which 1) we just wanted in dried - in one corner of this 8ft x 11 rug 2) anyone who knows anything about vintage rugs would NEVER bleach it! They never asked us to bleach and repaint & why would you repaint a vintage rug?! The point of vintage rugs are to look used, not new! When we received our rug, 10 days after we were quoted, our rug looked horrible. It was shagged & had bleach stain throughout. Oh, and their was a water stain where the damage originally was. The representative we voiced our concerns with was rude, exclaiming they had sent our rug back to us in better condition than when they had picked it up, they have been cleaning carpets for over 20 years, and he demanded payment. If their handling of my account is at all indicative of how they handle their business then these guys are con artists. I called them to remove flood water from my basement. They were called at 1 p.m.They said on the phone that they would come at 4. They did not call me until 7 p.m. They asked if I was ok with them getting there at 9 because they were running late with other work. I said this was fine. They arrived at 10. They said they would have to drain out the water and cut the drywall in the basement while spraying down chemicals to prevent mold growth. They claimed that they were incapable of providing an estimate. I asked if there were any mandatory minimum charges. At first Avi, on the phone, dodged the question by reiterating that they can't give an estimate. I had to spell out the difference between an estimate and a mandatory minimum charge. He said that there was none. He kept insisting that the insurance company won't let itself be scammed and that he runs a legitimate business. At about 1 a.m. the two men who were working asked me to come down. The sump pump hole was filling with water. It was clear that it was going to overflow by morning. They wanted to leave multiple fans and a dehumidifier behind but I asked them to take the machines because obviously the water was going to overflow and ruin the machines. They said that it was fine and that they could just come back the next day to drain the water again. The next day the basement flooded again and when I asked Avi to send out guys as was promised he claimed that they knew nothing about the basement flooding again and said that his guys were too busy. He also demanded that I get HIS machines out of the basement so that they don't get ruined. I had to remove his 5 fans and giant dehumidifier by myself as water poured into my basement from the sump pump hole. I asked him to send his guys to pick up the equipment since it was useless and I had asked them not to leave it in the first place. He had told me that there were no mandatory minimum charges or anything like that. At this point he said "Well we have to charge you for three days of equipment use". I asked why this was not disclosed and he interrupted me rudely to tell me about how I agreed to have them do work on my house. I pointed out that I had no signed anything and that all I asked them to do was drain water. He interrupted me AGAIN to threaten me "Legally if that's the way you want to go..." I had not asked them to leave machines, I had actually asked them to not leave their machines. I had asked them about mandatory charges. This man lied to me every step of the way. They were supposed to come on Tuesday to put the machines back in my basement. Nobody came. Wednesday nobody came. Now it's Thursday and the mandatory three days have passed yet they failed to put their machines back in the basement and drain the water again like they said they would. I called them to pick up their machines and even though the three days were up he said that they would have to come on Friday. I asked if they would charge me for four days and he said no. Nobody came on Friday OR saturday and my phone call was ignored. Finally on SUNDAY they showed up. Avi handed me a paper filled with mandatory minimum charges. Emergency night fee, fee for each blower per day, fee for the dehumidifier per day. All of these mandatory charges were clearly listed despite his original lie that there were no such fees. I refused to sign the paper and asked that he first e-mail me and my insurance company a copy of the invoice. He refused and threatened to put a lean on my house. I told him that no attorney on Earth would argue his case, I had signed nothing and he had committed fraud every step of the way. I acknowledged that water was removed from my basement and that the drywall was cut. I acknowledged that they of course deserved to be paid for the work they actually did but I would not agree to pay for services that were not rendered. Recall that it was a mandatory 3 day charge right? Remember that when they refused to pickup their machine on time he said that I would not be charged for extra days? Well he was charging for ALL SIX DAYS of machine usage. Also recall that originally they were supposed to arrive at 4 p.m. and they asked me if it was ok if they come at 9 since they were running behind? Well now they were charging me extra for "after hours night services". I of course confronted Avi about not telling me about this when he asked me about coming late but since this man was such an inveterate liar it didn't surprise me. I'm exploring avenues of legal action but my insurance company is willing to get charged over 2600 dollars for simple water removal and dry wall cutting. Since the insurance is willing to get scammed I may simply settle for leaving this review in the hopes that I can spare people from giving business to this company read more

We hired ASAP Restoration due to a flooded basement because of a sump pump failure. Abe from ASAP promised us that he will do all the work for $1100 it will take 3-4 days for the carpet to dry. Unfortunately our second pump failed again and when Abe came second day, he said that he will charge us another $900 to dry the floor and carpet although he already had all of his equipment already there. We agreed and he assured us that he will complete all the work and will save the carpet and the padding and will do everything necessary as per the standard to dry the floor and the walls. During this time, we weren't sure if the insurance will cover the cost, so we paid ASAP via our credit card, they charged us the full $2000 the second day of the service. ASAP never gave us any written quote detailing the service they will do, nor did they give us any invoice after charging us. The next Monday, the 29th, we learned that our insurance will cover the charge and would need an invoice from the the service company to ensure everything was done as per their requirement. Abe, the technician from ASAP who was handling the work told us that he will charge more and work differently if insurance is involved. Surprised, we did ask him what is it that he has not done so far, he did not give us any details just said that insurance will cover everything; i believe at this point he realized that he can extract more money from the insurance company since they had a max claim amount of 5000$, so he wanted to add more to the initial amount of $2000. We tried to have the insurance adjuster and ASAP have a conversation and make sure all the work ASAP was doing was as per the insurance requirements. During the whole week from 29th Feb to 5th March, Saturday, Abe never went back to the house to check on the basement, whether everything has dried or not. He came back on Sunday, the 6th of March without informing us, and told us that the padding is wet, and he will need another $900 to remove the padding. At this point we were sure that we cannot trust Abe and told him that we don't want to continue. Abe was so unprofessional that he just stormed out angrily taking all his equipment with him, he knew it was Sunday and leaving the place without any fans would cause more damage to the floor and carpet. We hired another company to restore our basement on Sunday, the 6th of March, and after evaluation, this is what they had to say. During a restoration, the place should be checked daily, not left unattended for 7 days that ASAP did. If the padding could not be dried the 2nd or 3rd day, it should be discarded, there is no way to save it, any professional water restoration company would know that. We had to pay much more to the new company who not only had to throw our carpet and padding but also cut the walls, because of the negligence that ASAP restoration showed with our basement. Abe from ASAP restoration not only kept us in the dark about the whole thing but also blamed us at the end for not acting by not letting them do the work which they meant not pay them extra money after 7 days of their work which produced no result. I just hope no one has to go through the treatment we went through especially when you think you are paying a professional that you think you can trust. I will not recommend ASAP restoration, and would strongly advise not to hire this company. I am also going to report this company to the BBB because of the way they handled the quote, the invoicing and everything. read more
