We were aboard their boat in Point Pleasant). We booked a public cruise on a Monday that was not fully booked so lucky for us - we had most of the boat to ourselves! The trip lasted two hours and it was so fun that the time flew by. Loved the vibes, that it was BYOB and we could play our own music. The boat has a full bathroom which was a plus as well. Our "mates" were awesome! They chatted with us and took some group pics for us. We'd come back again in a heartbeat - it such a fun afternoon experience to share.

Short version: The NJ Transit Long Branch Train Station is adequate in function and pretty…read moreconvenient. Frequent transfer point, it sees a good amount of traffic. Most transfers going south are quick and smooth, not exactly the same going north. Waiting outside during winter can be a bit brisk as there is no completely enclosed area. It does the job. The Deets: Over the last few years, I've used this station in Long Branch as a NJ Transit train connection point going south to Asbury Park/Bay Head, as well as going back north to NYC or Newark airport. It sees a pretty good amount of action as the transfer point due to this fact. Transfers usually go smoothly going south when transferring at Long Branch, as many times the train continuing south is on the other track directly across from the train that just brought you into the station. However, connecting there going back up north towards NYC usually means waiting for one of trains to come up from the maintenance/storage yard adjacent to it...and many times it is not immediate, usually resulting in a wait. If it is in the winter, it's not fun to wait as there is no completely enclosed waiting area that I've seen. The waiting area I've experienced is covered but outside including one bench area having glass around it, not completely enclosed from the elements. There is a staffed ticket office and also ticket kiosks available, but I have used the NJ Transit phone app for tickets most of the time which is very convenient. It has a pretty sizable parking lot and I imagine the spots are for a cost for commuters going into the city. All in all, the Long Branch train facility is adequate and does the job needed.

This is a great hotel with excellent staff and the North Suite was a highlight despite some quirks…read more We stayed at The Oyster Point Hotel over Christmas while visiting family and had a very positive overall experience, even with a few hiccups along the way. The front desk staff was professional and courteous. One young man was clearly in training, and the young woman guiding him was extremely knowledgeable and polite which to me was a great example of mentorship done right. Unfortunately, our original room had a heater that was rattling loudly and had pooled water on top of it, which I recorded and showed to the front desk. To their credit, maintenance responded quickly, and the technician was friendly, professional, and even helped move my luggage. He brought us keys to a new room, and the front desk upgraded us to the North Suite, which was an incredibly thoughtful gesture. The North Suite was fantastic with a large space with a massive balcony and beautiful views, along with a comfortable seating area outside. Sadly, due to the season, it was too cold to enjoy the balcony, but we appreciated the feature. That said, the suite wasn't perfect: The shower area was oddly dark, with little lighting. There was no air vent in the bathroom, which seemed unusual. The sink was smaller than the one in the standard suite. Neither of the two TVs worked, though I didn't want to complain during the stay and just mentioned it at checkout. The bathroom door didn't latch, which was a minor but noticeable issue. The smoke detector is missing from the ceiling, which gave me pause. Despite those flaws, the service and staff stood out. I witnessed two bar employees being rudely berated by guests over late food (which obviously wasn't their fault), and they handled the situation with professionalism and calm. I was so impressed by their professionalism under pressure (and so thoroughly disgusted by that table of senior citizens who should know better than to act that way) that I tipped each of them $50 each on top of our drink tab to make up for how poorly they were treated. Speaking of which, the bar area is a wonderful little spot, with friendly staff and the occasional live music, making it a fun place to unwind without leaving the hotel. The cocktails are excellent as well. This hotel has long been our go-to when in town, and while there were a few issues this time, the staff's attentiveness and care truly made the experience special. We're already looking forward to our return in 2026. TIP: Be mindful of where you park! The handicap parking is limited, and one of the spaces is under a tree that's heavily populated with birds. Our car was completely covered in bird droppings. I mean absolutely covered. Avoid that spot if you can.

It's incongruous, and I felt like rushing into a bathroom to put on a designer suit and a shirt with cufflinks. The omnipresent T-shirt and shorts of Asbury Park seemed out of place, but that's the uniform on the Shore, and the Ocean Club was no exception. A piano man was singing in the second-floor lounge, and his lovely voice and keyboard playing filled the elegant wood-lined rooms. He was fantastic, as was the interior of this zen hotel. It was the epitome of modern luxury, and the expansive space had the perfect lighting, transporting the patrons to a world of peace and relaxation. The Jersey Shore was in a different hemisphere. Well, until we encountered the lackadaisical service, which would be more appropriate at one of the tiki bars on the beach. I literally had to search them down to get our drinks and to retrieve our check. The prices were quite reasonable for this kind of place.

Splinter HELL, I hope you don't want ice…read more This hotel was fantastic at first, especially the corner pool terrace suite. Easy access to the pool, large and lots of light. But my god, it is splinter hell. Us, along with 3 other families that we knew of, were realizing at the pool that us and our kid's feet were completely full of splinters. We spent a total of about 3 hours at the pool over 2 days and my four year old had over 50 splinters in each foot! I had about 10 and spouse a few less. My four year old will not even let me look at his foot, nevertheless remove the splinters - yeah right. I think we are going to need to get sedated. This has ruined the stay to be honest. The hotel also didn't have tweezers. At least two families complained and nothing seemed to be done about it. The deck is extremely dry. This wouldn't be a hard problem to solve. ICE. I requested ice about 20 different ways, because there is no ice machine so they say just request it: - through the app on their tablet (3x, nothing) - through calling the front desk (2x, nothing) - in person at the front desk (2x, nothing) - through text to the front desk (4x, nothing) - in person to the person that came to the room one night (2x, 1x worked!) I got ice once, woohoooooo! The tablet is a joke. I needed an extra bedsheet and requested it through the tablet and it never came. In person at the front desk it did, however. Beautiful hotel, but the splinters ruined it. You could not pay ME to stay somewhere that my autistic kid gets 100 splinters in his feet. The hotel is feeling a bit neglected in some ways. Our "terrace" had algae on the deck area, one couch cushion had a big brown spot and there was half of a DEAD BIRD on our terrace. It was there the whole time. Of course my 4 year old was enthralled.Yay.

So Emerson's introduction on our first morning was very worthwhile. Emerson shared with us the history, anecdotes, interesting buildings of the Asbury Park boardwalk area, nearby Ocean Grove and the downtown. Emerson has clearly done a lot of research, and we learned things we would have never picked up on our own. Therefore, I highly recommend the tour!

The fully equipped kitchen, spacious living room, and comfortable furnishings made it feel like a true home away from home. The staff was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay, and the coffee bar was absolutely delicious. One of our favorite moments each day was relaxing on the expansive front porch with a glass of wine, reading our books, and watching the world stroll by. It was the perfect way to unwind between a day at the beach and dinner. The hotel also provides beach towels and bicycles on a first-come, first-served basis, which was a wonderful added touch. We truly loved every aspect of our stay and can't wait to return.

We visit Ocean Grove every March and stay a night or two. We have tried Ocean View, Ocean Plaza, the Majestic, and one place that had no staff. All were acceptable but dated. This year was our first time at Hotel Albatross, which we had previously avoided because of online reviews. But after an 18-month renovation, everything is new and tastefully done. We stayed in a top-floor room with two double beds. The mattresses were firm and comfortable, so I didn't wake up with a sore back. Our room also had a small but useful desk and mini-fridge. The valve to turn on the shower and control the temperature and water flow was on the opposite side of the shower head, so you can turn on the water without getting wet. It heated up fast anyway, but that was a nice feature. There was a rain-style shower head as well as a hand-held that you can fix in place and slide up and down. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Bottled water in our mini-fridge was free. Text messages provided useful information, such as the Wi-Fi code. There is no breakfast buffet, like some other Ocean Grove hotels have, but the nicer accommodations more than made up for that. There are tables on the first floor to sit down and have coffee (and pastries, which are available for purchase). As we checked out, we were offered coffee, which we gladly accepted. We will be back at Hotel Albatross next year.
