The congregation is a medium to small size (about 200 people) including many young families as well as older people. Our pastor Darren Lander, has a gift of being able to preach the Word of God with both weight, humor and poignancy. We are fortunate to have him and grateful to see the Good News that Christ died for sinners like us on display. Hope that people can come check us out sometime!

When St. Michael was built in 1891 it was the tallest building in Cleveland. The building was not black when built, but turned black from the factories, but I think the church looks beautiful. I am proud to be a Clevelander from the rust belt. St. Michael represents Cleveland. It was built for European immigrants in the 1890s, turned black from the factories, and over 100 years latter is going STRONG for a new generation of immigrants from Spanish speaking countries. This sanctuary is beautiful and magnificent! We had no idea how in awe we would be by just walking in. We spent about 30 minutes and we each put a donation in the box. At the same time, the community at this church is more open and accessible than some. In many ways, this church is an opposite of the more common type of church in which the services are dumbed-down to be more accessible to newcomers, but the communities are more closed to outsiders. In many ways this church is typical of a church but there are a number of things that are just a tad better here than elsewhere. Episcopal churches tend to have awful singing (i.e. the hymns are good, but Episcopals can't sing), but in this church the singing is average, which means it is unusually good for an Episcopal church. I like it. The service, spiritual-content, and politics? All decent. The Pastor is a cool guy. As an added bonus, there are actually a small handful of people in the 18-35 age range, the group that seems all too absent from most churches. I found the congregation to be fairly welcoming and willing to talk to newcomers. Not only was I actually approached by the pastor and several others at the coffee hour, but people actually took the time to talk to me, and introduce me to people. It made a very good impression. Perhaps the best thing about this church is that there is less wrong with it than there is with most churches. The people here are a little bit less superficial, the service is a little less boring and a little more relevant to your life. It's nothing outstanding really, but considering how incredibly horrible most churches are, I am left with no other choice but to give this church four stars!

I couldn't make it to my own church on that Sunday morning so I decided to visit Bridge City Church. I was greeted upon walking in and I helped myself to a cup of complimentary black tea which is positioned to the left of the entrance door (tea and coffee station). Upon entering, I loved the bright and airy feeling with all natural light coming in from the windows. Bridge City Church is a Christian Church in the Clark-Fulton neighbourhood of Cleveland, just south of Tremont and west of downtown Cleveland. The church building itself is beautiful inside with the high ceilings and innate light fixtures. Someone told me that it used to be a Catholic Church. I thought they were a non-denominational Christian church until I visited their website a few days later to see that they are a Presbyterian church. I enjoyed their tradition of saying confession together and the assurance of forgiveness. The message at church was titled "Fight Off what comes naturally." I enjoyed church on Sunday which lasted for about an hour and 30 minutes. It begun with praise and worship, announcements, preaching by one of the Pastors, graduation announcement for high school students graduating, then a closing prayer. The main Pastor didn't preach on the day that I visited but the message was still good. The Bible reading was the 10 commandements in the book of Exodus. Parking on their lot is tight but there is a lot across the street at another church that I was directed to park at since that church did not have service going at that time. It is highly regarded in the Cleveland Heights community. I am not a parishioner at this church. I stopped in during Cedar Fairmount Summer Fest. I felt so very welcome during my visit that I had to share my experience. Parishioners: The church organized carnival-type event during the Summer Fest complete with games and bubbles! The games were very interactive. I only stopped in for less than an hour but was so welcome! I played some fun carnival games! I talked to a few parishioners. They told me that the church is very focused on inclusion and community feel. A lot of parishioners are Cleveland Heights residents and students (including international) from Case. The membership seemed very diverse which was beautiful. That and everyone I met was genuinely welcoming, non pressuring, enthusiastic, and aligned in a shared mission. Service/Events: This church hosts Sunday service at 11 AM. There are also plenty of events that you can find on their website. The parishioners recommended bible studies. I was very interested in the Young Professionals Community Group. Parking: The church does not have a parking lot but there is ample parking in the area. The church recommends Chase Bank, Bellfield Road or Grandview Road. The area has a lot of other street parking but look at parking signs to ensure no citations. The area also has various attractions including great dining destinations. I will be honest in saying that I had no intention of joining the church during my visit. I am an active member of another denomination and church. After walking into this church, I became very interested in its communal mission and involvement. I'm strongly considered stopping in for events and meeting people. I love that this church is so committed to welcoming various church members and engaging the community. It's a wonderful place in Cleveland Heights!

As second-time visitors, we were incredibly shocked to hear the pastor, from the "pulpit," literally chide and shame the congregants who were not wearing face masks, calling them words like 'immature' and 'childish.' It is certainly no one's business why someone else without a face mask on is that way-- their medical condition, religion, whatever-- so to have a pastor treat people that way was very sad. These examples clearly aren't the type of leadership and church atmosphere the Bible calls for!
