Worst law firm I've ever dealt with. I retained this attorney to go through a divorce with minimal assets. This attorney agreed to outrages items that I had to abide by when in only the temporary orders. This attorney charged over $4,000.00 in as I said a divorce with one house and minimal assets!!!! I had agreed to a Psycho-Sexual evaluation as my divorce was due to infidelity. My attorney told me in court to agree to the terms which he said was just like a normal psych evaluation which is normal. After talking to my second attorney I had to retain after firing this attorney that is not even true that a regular psych evaluation is agreed to unless there is any type of history of mental illness. The psycho-sexual evaluation that my attorney referred to as normal is meant for rapists, pedophiles, sexual predators and people found guilty of a sexual crime. It cost $1,200 more than what he said it might cost me and took 5 hours to complete. This all had to be done as a condition before adjusting my visitation rights to my daughter. This was repulsive and offensive. The Dr that I had to visit for this evaluation, found it absurd that I would have ever agreed to that and suggested that I file suit against that attorney. The therapist said that the attorney should have known as part of his job that this was not just a simple evaluation and continued to apologize to me that I had to undergo this process. The law suit will be in process and I've started a formal complaint with the Utah State Bar. This therapist had NEVER heard of an attorney agreeing to this in any case that wasn't sexual crimes in nature. This attorney didn't even know what he was telling me to agree to and after trying to fight it in court with a new attorney the commissioner still required it before I could see my daughter because the attorney at Eveland said that I should agree to it. Next up my attorney also agreed to a normal Psych evaluation. This was only $300 on top of all the other fees I had been paying. The therapist I met for this again said he never had anyone without any signs of illness or issues agree to this. He again suggested I file a complaint with DOPL and the Utah State Bar and potentially sue this attorney for damages. This is again now in the process. This attorney told me he was working in my best interest which is a joke. He joined me in court for one hour of evidence... And the next time in court where he agreed to all these terms for me including the evaluations and such was scheduled for 10 but he had told me it was scheduled for 9 in the morning causing me and some family members to miss additional work and he billed me for that additional hour. After all of what was 4 hours in court and two responses to documents this attorney charged over $4,000 total. Currently I am fighting their small claims that they have filed. The first time I went to court for the small claims was February 10th where the judge dismissed it because they didn't even show up. The next time I go for the same claim they show up without any evidence and require me to go back for a third time to court over outstanding and unreasonable fees. The attorney that they hired to represent them came unprepared and now is requesting the additional time to take me back to court. I've now started filing the complaint with the Utah State Bar, the Department of Professional Licensing and will be filing suit against this company for the additional nearly $6,000 I had to accrue with additional attorneys, therapists, and court fees to get me to a point where I was divorced and had the rights to my daughter. I've never done anything criminal and yet my attorney found a way for me to be treated as a rapist! The evaluation in itself is criminal for someone who has never committed a sexual crime. Then after only 4 hours of court he wants to charge $4,000 for not even getting my divorce complete. I had a better chance of having better terms without the horrible attorney that represented me from this firm. Look up Eveland and their fraud and being convicted of their crimes outside of family law. This place is horrible and I can't even explain in any more words how horrible they were. Overcharging and taking me to court for money they didn't earn. I also, have NEVER received an itemized bill from Eveland!!! NEVER! This law firm is full of crooks and criminals who will not do their fiduciary duty to help you. I need to not only be compensated for the excess charges and the $6000 in fees that I had to pay to get me out of this mess. But, I missed some of the most valuable time with my daughter because of the terms this attorney told me to go by. Ridiculous and absurd are words that describe this law firm. A complete joke. As far as I am concerned Attorney Jeremy Eveland is the top family law attorney in all of Utah -- Prior to hiring Jeremy, I was involved in a four year divorce battle in Salt Lake City, Utah. My now ex-husband had filed for divorce and tried to take virtually all the marital property as his own. He was stationed in the military and I was living out of state. We had a business too, and because Jeremy has an MBA and understands business, that was huge when it came to valuation of it to make sure I didn't get screwed. Anyway, I had gone through two other attorneys in Salt Lake and some located in other cities in Utah.I had nothing but problems with them. They wouldn't move the case forward. I, unfortunately, must do a bankruptcy. I absolutely don't want to but unfortunate events in life makes it necessary. I found Ascent Law on google as I searched for an attorney. They were automatically very helpful, respectful, understanding, and easy to feel safe with. They weren't the first I called but I will say 100% that all my first calls to other attorneys scared me!
