Chalets in Hocking Hills - Sauna Pod 2

    Chalets in Hocking Hills

On a whim, my husband suggested we book a sauna pod for a Saturday in January while staying in…read moreHocking Hills. To my surprise, there was still an available time slot so I quickly booked it and waited with anticipation for our time to arrive. We checked in at the front office where we were greeted politely and were given instructions on how to get to, enter and use our sauna pod. The Pods are located right across the street from the Chalets so I was worried at first about having adequate privacy but once we entered the Pod I felt I was transported to the middle of the woods. My favorite part of the Pod was that it was Bluetooth equipped so I was able to play some folk music over the speakers to enhance my woodsy experience. Towels and bottled water are also provided for you in the Pod. We booked an hour, which I thought might be too long in the heat for me personally but after taking the recommended breaks, it didn't feel long enough. We emerged from our Pod soaking in sweat but refreshed and with every endorphin in our bodies firing. It was a fabulous experience!

Having had a fabulous experience with the Chalets in Hocking Hills in the past, I decided to give…read morethem another go to celebrate my birthday for a few days in February. I booked online and the process was really easy. I got reminder emails, a welcome message when it was time to check-in and everything was contactless when I arrived. While I spent a good amount of time outside of my cabin (Laurelwood), I also spent a good amount of time there. It snowed a lot so I soaked up the giant window views, enjoyed the hot tub, and lots of relaxing. My only big complaint was that of the cabin itself. I couldn't figure out what it was but the entire building was just loud. Like so loud, I couldn't sleep. Had I known, I would have brought ear plugs and trust me, I have them thanks to living in the city. Despite not being able to sleep my two nights there, and constant loud ass humming all throughout, the rest of the experience was solid. The space was comfy, included all the necessities, and they even plowed the driveway after the snow. I love coming here and the Chalets are a great choice. I just might ask about the sound issues on my next visit.

The Apple Ridge Cabins down in the Hocking Hills area are just the right amount of rustic with the right amount of hot tub. The cabin also came with owner, Jack. A regular visitor guide full of inside Hocking info - and he wasn't wrong once the entire weekend. From recommending restaurants to mapping our hikes, you knew you could trust a guy who installed a Plexiglas window after falling through it from out of the loft. Back to the cabin - the simple, loft-style gem I stayed in last weekend boasted a kitchenette equipped with mini fridge/freezer, microwave/convection oven, stove and arguably most important - a coffee maker. The fact that we shorted out the circuit the coffee maker and microwave were plugged into was not Jack's fault. Moving out to the porch, there sits a gas grill, chairs for lounging and ah yes - the hot tub. Already heated and kept clean, the hot tub is - as I'm sure for many - the selling point. Was the grill a bit soiled, yes - as were the chairs. But we're talking the great outdoors here, so a little extra soot keeps it natural. There was a privacy fence behind the hot tub, not to mention a hill and woods, so seclusion was optimal. Heading in to retire for the evening, the bathroom was clean with ample linens and the queen size bed made the climb up the loft well worth it. Minutes away from main attractions like Old Man's Cave and Cedar Falls, Apple Ridge Cabins are exactly what we were looking for: convenience and comfort. It was no five star hotel, but that's not the point, now is it.

I have never posted a review for anything in my life (and I'm over 50), but I feel I need to warn…read moresomeone. We booked the gala vacation cabin over 5 weeks ago. We drove 170 miles from cleveland for a long weekend, but when we arrived, they said there was no record of our reservation. When I made the reservation, I was on the phone for about 20 minutes and he took my credit card number to hold. Jack's solution was for us to go the visitors burea & try our luck there on the busiest weekend of the year in hocking hills. His solution was 'I have no record of you, sorry" We did see the McIntosh cabin, because they thought we were someone else at first. The place was GROSS. I would never stay there, and defenitely not recommend it. The 'stove' in the kitchen was a 2-burner, 1950s era that did not look functional. the bathroom had black grout, and i don't think it was designed that way. I wouldn't have sat on the futon. We were told the propane heater 'probably' worked. If you're planning a get away in hocking hills, I would recommend checking out the cabin owners with the tourist burea before booking. There are some less than professional owners, and we obviously found one. This was a 'cash only' rental which should have warned me off.
