It was pretty cool to see the armored knights, the cool architecture of the castle (inside and out), the beautiful stained glass windows and all the older decorations. -The bedroom and bathroom were clean (except it was very dusty). -We were pleasantly surprised that there was a refrigerator and microwave because the way the website is worded it sounds like there is only a common refrigerator on the 2nd floor. -The Innkeepers, Dave and Trish, were very friendly and helpful. They try hard to please you and work hard. -Breakfast was ok. Mostly frozen sausage and bagged hash browns. There was also quiche, bagels and toast with various condiments. The Not So Good -Obviously the castle is old and you would expect it to have somewhat of a musty smell. It was exceptionally musty when you walk into the castle. Most people may tolerate it but with my breathing problems it was difficult for me. The room we stayed in was not bad but you can still smell it, especially when you open the door. -The rooms look really nice on the website but not as nice in person. The inn needs a lot of work and one maintenance man cannot possible do it all himself. More help is really needed. -Could use a place to hang cloths along with some hangers.

Checking in was also a breeze. I got a text the day before with directions on parking, check-in, policies, etc. We called 30 minutes out to let them know when we would be arriving. The innkeeper was ready with our room keys and a lovely little welcome snack basket. He showed us the basics of the castle and to our room for the evening. We had a room on the third floor. It was cute with a jacuzzi tub, and a little private side room with a couch in it. We did not use the jacuzzi tub. The shower water was hot and felt great. The bed was comfortable and the comforter kept us warm (as it was a bit chilly in the room). Our room was adorable. There was a TV and DVD player in the room. Breakfast was simple and filling. Our host was a bit frazzled because of weather delays but he was so pleasant! We happily waited and talked with the other guests. We had eggs, hashbrowns, toast, english muffins and sausage. The night before he said it would be buffet style and then the next morning he ended up plating everything and bringing it out to us. There was also coffee, juice, and hot tea available. I would recommend adding some ketchup and jam to the menu options. There is a cute little gift shop with some interesting items in it. The innkeeper let us stay as long as we liked even though check-out was at 11a. There was one other couple staying with us that night but we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The decor is awesome. Overall the castle is adorable and fun. The innkeeper was so sweet and attentive. There are a few areas of maintenance improvements that could be done throughout the castle. I would love to see someone help invest for the repairs because I would hate for anything to happen to this beautiful space.

Offered to reschedule 2 days later, that was their only option, as 2 full time workers we couldnt accommodate that. Basically stole $450 from us. 10 out of 10 would not recommend this place. Plenty of cabins closer to hocking hills with legitimate business owners. These owners have one thing in mind and one thing only YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.

A grill (2 actually but we only used the one in the patio) a heated splash pool the kids loved. Four bedrooms plus a loft with a pull out couch. Perfect for a married couple and 3 kids. Our daughter fell in love with the loft so we had a spare bedroom that wasn't used. Great kitchen and bathrooms. Plus a little boat house with a fire pit we used to make s'mores. We stayed at the Lake House for four nights. The house deserves an award from Architectural Digest. it's simply indescribable how well appointed this house is. I've attached some pics that I think captures the essence of this jewel. The house was clean with lots of extras. The plunge pool is like an oversized hot tub that's over five feet deep. The staff was very attentive and met our every need. We decided to buy two robes since we forgot ours. We texted the office and they delivered them within minutes. The robes were top of the line bath robes that kept us warm on cool nights after soaking in the hot tub. Best robe i've ever owned. We ordered the Italian Night dinner which was in the refrigerator when we arrived with heating instructions. It was a delicious lasagna with a tossed salad and Tiramisu for dessert. Best Tiramisu i've ever had. Wish we had ordered other meals. We loved the outdoor fireplace with a TV under a covered area adjacent to the plunge pool. We made and ate s'mores while watching tv in front of roaring fire. We have stayed in many high end resorts and this retreat was the best we've ever stayed at. It's also a good value. We paid more at other resorts that didn't come close to the luxury we found here.

Like the…read morewebsite says it is very close to the state park and is across the street from some adjacent hikes so driving wont be a hassle. The camp is smaller than you would imagine from the website but the majority of sites on the grounds give you the amenities you would need, there is potable water sites sprinkled through the grounds as well as outhouses for men and women across the sites. The main part i enjoyed was how few other campers i saw i have heard that the main state park campground can get crowded but palmerosa does not have that problem at all, when i arrived i was even given the opportunity to swap to a more preferred site upon seeing the options in person (although i cant say this is a ground rule). Speaking to that the staff was wonderful we met one nice gentleman who accommodated us with our questions and equipment and was all around helpful and friendly. Palmerosa also allows horses which i cant speak much to as i didnt do that but we saw one group with two horses and those horses looked happy and the people taking care of them looked satisfied. In my opinion palmerosa is the perfect spot for someone who wants tread the line on primitive camping while its out of the way and secluded but close enough to attractions and town for you to not be far from fun. I will say the rooms were kept clean and the home is beautiful and in a good location. However, everything else was sketchy as heck. We saw our hosts for 10 minutes over 48 hours. I feel that at almost every other bed and breakfast I have been to, the host is available most the time, but certainly (or at least) in the morning. They did provide us with dish soap when we requested it (via a phone call), but it was a bit of an inconvenience to have to track someone down over the phone and wait hours for soap when a host who is actually at their place of business could have resolved the request in a timely manner. Perhaps we arrived on an "off" weekend as I know the hosts were sick, but I still feel this bed and breakfast needs to pick up their game a bit, especially where the food is concerned. While we were there (three days and two nights) the food was not changed until our final morning. The very first day, my cousin bit into the quiche and discovered the top was covered in red, gray and black mold. Who knows how long it was in there before we arrived to get that moldy. The quiche and every other item in the fridge (moldy cheese) remained until we threw it away, concerned others would get ill. I feel like most bed and breakfasts provide some sort of hot breakfast or at least one item that can be served warm or heated later, but there was no microwave, toaster or any other way to heat up a snack. At no point was I able to connect to the "free" wifi or get the tv working. This could easily have been user error, but no one was there to help get anything set up. And I don't want to have to call and complain every five minutes, which this would have turned into. Guests arrived at one point and I actually showed them around and got them acclimated. I know they were unhappy to be in a room without a window air conditioner because they said so and were also disappointed by the lack of host. As for the amenities, such as the upper porch and back porch, they were filthy. Not usable for much, in my opinion. The front porch is a much better option. I feel there is also a bit of a lack in security options as you cannot lock your room after you leave, and so must take any valuables you have with you wherever you are going through the day. I know this place is being renovated and had no complaints about the work in progress or anything else about the actual house. It simply wasn't a hospitable stay. I feel the hosts need to work on their hosting and actually make heir presence known at their place of business. Since they have another business to attend to, maybe they should hire an assistant to manage the bed and breakfast. Sorry if this seems harsh, but when someone leaves a negative review perhaps the first response shouldn't be to blame your customer for our bad service. Sincerely, Never again.

The power went out, and we received a message saying it was expected to be restored by 7:00 PM. However, when we arrived at the foot of the hill around 9:30 PM, it was completely pitch black everywhere, and there were tree branches all over the road. We called to report it to the power company, and the customer service rep mentioned that many others had already reported it too. Still, the power wasn't restored until 1:30 PM the next day. The biggest issue was that when the power went out, the water went out too, because the water pump relies on electricity. This meant we couldn't take a comfortable shower, and using the toilet became a real problem. Fortunately, the next morning, a neighbor told us we could use water from the hot tub to flush the toilet! That being said, the cabin itself is nice, has everything you need, and is peacefully away from the city lights. We even did some amazing stargazing in front of the nearby chapel on our second night. The staff were also very responsible--there were still branches on the road when we drove out the next day, but by the time we drove back later, everything had already been completely cleared. BTW, I definitely recommend an SUV to get up here, as the road is pretty steep. Also, make sure to bring a flashlight and a folding saw just in case the weather gets bad!
