I patronized this business on four occasions. First was with a haircut by a master stylist. It was okay. Nothing to write home about, just average. The second time I patronized was with an apprentice. She did a great job on the blowout and it was only $25! I tipped $20 because I was so happy with the service, for a total of $45. The third time I came back, I got someone new for a blowout. Did an amazing equivalent job. Before I was told the price, I tipped $20 again, assuming it would be $25, but the price jumped to $50. I was told this after I had tipped and gotten the service, so I paid a total of $70. The fourth time I booked an appointment with the apprentice. Again tipped over 20% and planned on just using her from then on. I needed to reschedule for today and booked with someone new. I assumed it would be $25 or $50 and I would just tip accordingly. When I arrived stylist told me it's $65. I asked why? She said she was a master stylist. I said, but that's what I was told when I paid $50, and she said that was for a mid level stylist. I walked out because I don't like being told a different price every time I walk in the door and this not being appropriately explained. If you are going to the same stylist you can know what to expect, I guess, but I don't like feeling like I'm experiencing a bait and switch. I feel like price changes should be discussed when scheduling the appointment so customer doesn't feel blindsided. read more

Well I feel pampered and educated after my haircut at Iva Bella! I literally had my hair cut and styled moments ago by Justin. He was absolutely fabulous and informative. He was well educated on the products that he was using in my hair. He explained what each product did, and had no problem sitting with me before we even got started to get a feel for my hair and its current state. Not only that, but I didn't feel rushed or feel like he just needed to get to his next client. He completely brought out the extroverted side of me and we had a wonderful conversation throughout my entire time. He was absolutely wonderful, and the salon is gorgeous! And if there was one thing that I truly loved, which is usually the thing I hate most, is there was no pressure to buy products. He completely understood that I already had a set hair care regime due to my mild case of alopecia. Again, if there is one thing that I cannot stand when I go to a hair salon, is feeling like I am dealing with a car salesman. Not everyone can just buy products that are in a hair salon so I greatly appreciate not feeling any kind of pressure. I had patty do my hair I got like 6 inches off and hilighted looks amazing but it is extremely expensive here just a hair cut is 55 dollars without tip which is what one of my sisters got. Love this family run salon! James Cornwell is my go-to but he has put together a very talented team. I've been getting my hair colored and cut by James for years. He's made my hair bright red, burgundy wine, purple, magenta, and even teal blue when we were being spontaneous. He's always willing to embrace my rock n roll wild side but still giving me a classy cut/styling that my mother can love. Literally my mom only likes when James cuts, styles and colors my hair....despite the buzzed Mohawk. This salon has only the best products in the retail area from their own Iva Bella shampoo to Wella, Joico and Sebastian Pro to maintain your beautiful hair. I've used all depending on my hair needs. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. James is a riot and if you're bored of your basic stylist definitely go to him. I can't believe there is not more reviews on this place, it's fabulous! The location isn't ideal so maybe that is why. It tucked back in Vint Hill next to the Old Bust Head brewery. I was recommended to the place by my Mother so I was slightly hesitant in going. The reason being is that I assume, and wrongly so, that the place would be catered more towards the older crowd. How wrong I was! The ambiance of this place is amazing and the decoration is so trendy. Someone really put a lot of time into decorating and it pays off. I went to Megan because that is who my mom went to. Keep in mind I have not trusted anyone to cut my hair since my hairdresser of 7 years moved to Ohio. I let Megan know this and she was very reassuring. I told her exactly what I wanted and she did EXACTLY that. She made sure it was what I wanted before she made the initial cute. My hair looks great. I am still getting used to the length but that is obviously no fault of Megan's. I just am not used to having shorter hair but needed the inches off since I waited almost a year to cut it. Looking around as I was getting my hair cut, there was a wide array of hairdressers and clientele. It was great to see so many different ages and styles in one building! Great place!!! I explained to the person I spoke with what I was looking to have done and was told that Christine would be the right fit for me. She certainly was. I had a great consult with Christine. I have been trying to get my hair done for a long time. I have dark dark brown hair as I am asian :p . Ive wanted to get my hair lighter to blonde if I cold and of course every place said they couldn't do it , it would take too long to lighten up. Wow this place was a huge disappointment!! Called and booked an appointment to have my hair curled and styled for my engagements pictures. While booking, I informed the stylist that I had really long hair, in order to insure she had slowed enough time for what I wanted. 3 weeks later (4 days before my appointment) the photographer was discussing the possibility of canceling the shoot due to all of the rain we had been having. I called Iva Bella, and said I had an appointment with Jessica at 2pm on Saturday and gave my name, and Informed The receptionist that the photographer was discussing canceling but was not going to let me know until the day of and I did not want to cancel my appointment the same day out of respect for the stylist and the salon. So I then asked her if the photographer canceled the pictures could I instead get some highlights and a cut and she told me certainly that the stylist would have plenty of time to do that for me. Well today was my appointment, the photographer did end up canceling this morning, I go in to my appointment at 2pm and the receptionist asks what I'm getting done. I said "it was supposed to an updo/style but my photographer canceled on me so I wanted to see if she could do highlights and a cut" and she said "oh no, she isn't going to have time for that!! She can cut your hair, but that's it." I waited a minute, and then decided to cancel my appointment entirely and just leave. I would completely understand if I had not of called ahead and asked beforehand. But I did, and was told it would be no issue. I'm still trying to figure out how she would of had enough time to curl and braid my hair like I wanted, but apparently she only had time to cut my hair now. Don't tell customers one thing and then do another. I had them booked for my bridal party and I to have our hair and makeup done for my wedding as well, and you can bet that after this, I have cancelled that as well. I will never be back. read more
