I'm a former local who happened to be in town for a week or so. I do almost nothing to my hair, although lately have been in the mood to have my curls blown out. With the chaos of the pandemic, it's hard to know what is open, and then what feels safe in terms of protocol, cleanliness, etc. While making a very necessary visit to the ice cream shop next door, I noticed Salon Lou. The shop was closed, so the following morning I left a message requesting a call back. I received a call from Loretta who was very nice and offered me an appointment later that day, letting me now that Caitlin would be working with me. I arrived and was actually greeted by Caitlin. The shop is very cute, modern and happily I observed a station complete with hand sanitizer and other items. There was only one other client, everyone had on marks as and I noticed that several chairs were unavailable in order to observe social distance protocol. After we chatted a bit about what I wanted, Caitlin brought me back to the shampoo woman. She was as friendly as can be, thorough and really gave me a lovely little head massage! I enjoyed chatting with her. Back to Caitlin for my blow out which as fantastic. She sectioned my hair and while not rushing at all, had it done in a reasonable amount of time. Something else I noted and appreciated is that she used minimal product in my hair. Almost nothing. I love that. My hair is long, but fine and in between wavy and curly. So it doesn't require lots of product. Nor did it require a flat iron. I walked out super pleased. I'm writing this review 3 days later and I have not had to touch my hair at all! And that's after a work out as well! I will be sure to spread the word and will always return to Salon Lou! It's my name after all, can't go wrong! read more

My first experience at Salon Lou was today with Crystal! The ambiance here is super nice. Jordan checked me in and did my shampoo - she did a great job! Then Crystal cut my hair and styled it. She was cautious when cutting to make sure she didn't take too much (I like my long hair!) and gave me tips for styling and hair care. I would definitely come back! read more

Easy to get an appointment. Receptionist super sweet. Salon is decorated nicely and is comfortable. Refreshments provided and plenty of reading materials. Great selection of music. Aubrey is fantastic at shampooing which is a rare and much appreciated skills. Taylor, my stylist, was adorable and gave me the exact color I was looking for. Easy to talk to. Took her time and made me feel like her only client. And an added bonus-- they sell Moroccan Oil products! Plus, the prices are reasonable. read more

I couldn't go any longer without her!! I missed and her excellent care on my poor feet. It's been 2 years since she moved further west that's not in my commute area for mani and pedi but I've been lost without her. Her is Crystal formally of Red Door which was my bi-weekly go to for superb services and semi therapy sessions! I had no choice but to make the 41 minute drive to Warrenton and boy was it worth it!! Cute shop, upon entry Crystal greeted me, offered me snacks and a beverage. She remembered my desire for cookies . The station was set up and ready for me to soak immediately. It was like getting on a bike that you haven't rode in years, just like old times. I enjoyed a thorough, spa pedicure with paraffin wax, hot towels, leg and feet massage and she went work on the built up calluses and thick skin around the nail bed. No one has paid this much attention to the thick skin in the last 2 years. I've tried a few and always left disappointed with rough patches under my feet. But yesterday and today I'm walking around with baby soft feet and cute bright toes!! Yay me! Lesson: stick with the best! I had the best salon experience of my life here yesterday. Sometimes salons can feel a little uptight to me and not so welcoming. Salon Lou felt warm and friendly and Crystal was creative, talented, & authentic. She steered me towards something a little different than what I had planned ... and so much better. I went to see Lori, based on my friend's (fabulous) hair, who goes to her too. She successfully emulated my friend's cut on me, and spent a lot of time making my hair look fabulous enough to go out on the town that night! Also to note, they don't have "shampoo girls" - Lori is the owner, and she was the one who washed my hair, as well as cut it. I guess that's how it's done in a small salon, which isn't a problem, just a surprise! Lost a star for not offering me a drink...maybe that's another aspect of a small salon. But they should certainly have magazines to look at while you're was getting your hair done. read more

This is a great salon, voted as one of the best in the county. I have followed one of the master hair colorist for many years now, Janet always treats me like I am the most important customer she has that day. She's is a wonderful person. Now that Crystal is back with the team, I also enjoy her nail services. Crystal pushed me to try new colors!! Salon Lou is a very nice salon very nicely decorated and nice refreshments. The staff is very supportive of each other. They all work together to give top quality service to their clients. Kelsey was able to fit me into her schedule and work with me to get my color back to natural blond highlights. My cut is fantastic and it didn't take forever. I can't say enough nice things about this place; very clean, nicely decorated, wonderful service and reasonable prices for professional work. They styled my hair and touched up my color beautifully. They also washed and styled my granddaughters hair with no complaints from her- she NEVER lets anyone she doesn't know touch her hair! The staff couldn't be nicer. My mom and sister have gotten beautiful cuts and colors here multiple times and always encouraged me to go--and I finally did. I made an emergency appointment here after going to a different, more inexpensive salon just for a trim and leaving pretty botched. I saw Janet and the experience was just amazing! She knew exactly what the stylist at the other salon had done wrong and we brainstormed how we were going to make the best of a bad situation. She actively planned out what she was going to do and checked in with me multiple times throughout the process, which gave me so much confidence in her abilities, and she absolutely delivered--transforming my choppy and lopsided hair into the sweetest style. It's fun and fresh and actually something I'd wanted to do for a long time, but never went for (until now!) She made sure that I was happy and seeing a difference for the better the whole time, which I really appreciated. Additionally, the salon in general has the nicest atmosphere, is very friendly, super clean, and is in a really great location. I'd say the prices are reasonable--it's a beautiful place with amazing, experienced, and talented service, so you're definitely getting what you pay for.
