My stylist's name is Leah, and she's the most kind hair stylist I've ever had!! I have had her for about a year, and she always does amazing work on my hair. She also always remembers things about me that I would never expect her to. (Such as my husband's name, she asks about my dogs, and she remembers the hobbies I have.) She even got me a mini cake for my birthday! I have never had such an amazing stylist. If you come to Ash Studio, I would CERTAINLY recommend Leah. She is friendly, bubbly, kind, and patient. She even does my husband's hair since he has rather long hair, and it always looks amazing! I have seen some of the other stylists, and they all seem kind and professional as well. I can't say I've had appointments with them, but while seeing them from afar, I can say they really do care about their clients and do amazing work. I got hand tied extensions from jc- and I need to say what she doesn't tell you about the extensions online: she clamps metal pieces into your hair so hard only she can remove them-- and for 400$$. The hair was not good quality, I put product and oil and brushed them every day, braided my hair at night and the extensions ended up dreading up at the base. I paid over 1000$ to have her install the hair and for the mediocre hair, and she didn't even dye them to match my roots like she said she was going to, or tone my hair to be less yellow. She didn't cut my actual hair to blend more with the extensions so they never matched. She didn't care what they looked like If I wasn't paying 2000$ for everything. She makes it so hard to find real reviews on the internet so I hope people will be able to see this and know : DO NOT PUT METAL CLAMPS IN YOUR HAIR. read more

I recently moved to Salem and was in dire need of a hair cut! After looking at reviews from other salons I chose Ash Studios. The studio is very bright, open concept and very clean. The waiting area is comfortable and they offer water or warm drinks - Tea it coffee while you wait. My hairdresser's name was Bailey and she was very nice. Prior to cutting she gave a great consult. She listened to what I wanted and paid attention to the type of hair I had. Their hair products they use seem very nice. They exclusively use Kevin Murphy brand products. I had my very first appointment here with Jaycie. It was such a great environment. From the beginning, I was greeted by another employee and felt comfortable. The salon itself is very clean and modern. I went in not knowing exactly what I needed and Jaycie was amazing and talking through what some options were until we found the best fit. We agreed on a color correction and cut. She was able to give me a cut that framed my face perfectly and fell very nicely considering the amount of hair I have. My hair was treated by someone outside of Ash Studio and was very uneven and had an unsatisfactory color to it. Once Jaycie was finished, I could not be more in love with my hair - I was obsessed with how spot on she left my hair. It was also great to hear all of Jaycie's knowledge on hair and hair care. I recently moved to Salem and decided to give Ash a try as it was reasonably priced and nearby around January-- and the haircut I receive was fantastic! ...If you can actually get a hold of them... Around January I called up for a hair appointment and was told they would check in with the stylists about availability and they would call me back-- they never did. OK, sure, it was a busy period in the year so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I called one more time and they actually kept me on the line to discuss the appointment, so success! I went in, had a great haircut and had a lovely discussion with my stylist who offered me drinks and was very respectful. But since then I have contacted them over FIVE times during business hours. They picked up once and said they came back to me and I was naive and believed they would. They never did. I've left voicemails requesting callback and it's like they never check as it's been two days now with no response. I've walked by a number of times and they have no dedicated receptionist and they're always on hands with customers, but I worry for them if they keep dropping valuable repeat business like this. Due to their full books and the relative affordability/simplicity of what I need done, I'm almost starting to think the independent workers don't want my business because it's too cheap! I want to like Ash Studio, I really do, but without honest communication I'm left with suspicions and doubts I have to voice, because I can't do it directly. read more

I am visiting my mom, and she surprised me with a cut and color with Jenny. What an AMAZING experience. She truly knows hair. I have been needing to cut a lot of my hair off, but haven't felt comfortable, until I went to ASH, and got Jenny! She is so incredibly knowledgable, and so sweet, she made me feel so comfortable, and like I knew her and could really trust her...and, I'm SO glad I did. Not only did she cut off length, she gave me gorgeous color, and the cut is stunning! It is truly flattering, and she also took into account my curly, dry hair, and made it beautiful again! I got my hair done by Jaycie and I absolutely hated it. Her balayage is uneven, spotty, chunks of hair left in touched and my subtle caramel was orange. She also messed up my face framing one side was two inches higher then the other. I had grown my hair out for 4 years and to pay $250 when she initially quoted me $150 was such a shock. I felt obligated to pay her but my hair was not worth what I paid. She's a recent beauty school grad, and to be charging those prices is ridiculous. When I reached out to her, without me even asking for a refund just explain my concerns and dislikes she immediately said no refund. Offered to fix the color but I distrust her abilities and disliked her approach about my concerns so I declined to let her fix it. read more
