I lived at the Ashborough for 4 years (2016-2020), and I would highly recommend it. The apartments are updated, spacious, and clean, and the staff are incredibly friendly and willing to help out. Milton and Veronica are extremely personable and willing to listen to any issues you run into, and if they can't help personally, they always know exactly where to direct you. During my time, I always received timely responses to any maintenance issues (I rarely had any - a fridge broke once, garbage disposal clogged, etc). The gym is a great bonus - it could use a bit of an update, but its nearly a fully-stocked exercise room (all it needs are some barbells and it'd be a full work-out space). I lived close to the pool which was an added bonus, as there is a real sense of community when the weather gets warm. This place was a perfect location for my commute. For two years I worked in Cary, 1 year I worked in Durham, and 1 in Raleigh. My commute was never longer than 30 minutes, and for Downtown Raleigh in particular, it only took me 10 minutes. I've seen some posts about cockroaches being an issue, but I can honestly say I've not had that problem. Management sprays every month, and as long as you keep good hygiene habits, you shouldn't have an issue. Overall, this complex was a great stepping point for me as I moved to ward my goals of home ownership, and I'll definitely miss the convenience and sense of community (prices aren't bad either!). read more

I've been here for over a year now and it's a great, well maintained place. The apartments are affordable and decently sized, our unit has a very large balcony as well! Good storage, laundry, dishwasher all in the unit. Pool, gym and office you can use, along with food truck and holiday events they are kind to hold for the community. They are VERY good for keeping things maintained and cleaned, and any pest control. Our air conditioner died and they sent someone within a few hours of reporting (they use a nifty online system to report any issues, pay rent etc) and it was fixed immediately. It is super loud outside most times because they're always busy cleaning or fixing something. I swear if there isn't a leafblower going there's something else, before winter they were sanding down bits of sidewalk you could trip on. But, while intrusive at times, I'd rather them be on top of things and be noisy than not, and I don't think most people would notice as much as I do since I'm here all the time. Parcels and retrieving them can be a bit of a pain unfortunately. They do not get delivered to your door, but are held in a room at the front office. They have to sort it all and they actually photograph and text/email that you have a parcel. While I appreciate it, I'd be much happier having my mail just come to the door instead of getting it much later while waiting for this. Especially during busy holiday times where they are clearly overwhelmed with the mass amount of mail. I have had a few parcels "misplaced" which they did eventually find thankfully. All in all a great place, I've lived in more apartments than I'd like to and this is by far the best and well managed. read more

I have been at the Ashborough for a couple of months and could not be happier. I was shown the perfect apartment with everything I needed--fireplace, attached garage and the bonus of a view. Olivia, the leasing agent, was beyond helpful and super nice. I love that they have valet trash and package concierge here, plus the proximity to Crossroads and the Beltline can't be beat. My only complaint would be that there is only one cardboard recycling bin and it fills up fast, so boxes collect around it for a day or two until it's picked up. It can get rather messy in that area. (But I do appreciate that people here want to recycle!) The maintenance staff is top notch, responding and fixing a couple of minor issues I've had within 24 hrs. They maintain the grounds and buildings really well. I'm paying a little more to live here, but to come home every day to a place I love, it's worth it. read more

I used to love it before I realized there are two cars in the complex with loud mufflers and the management refuses to hold the drivers accountable about it. I switched units for more space and now they live beneath me and it's unbearable. I've asked the guy and his girlfriend politely to be considerate and stop idling and revving their older model fixed up sports cars in the mornings at least but they don't care. The maintenance staff and my other neighbors are great. (ALL the residents I've spoken to hate it but the office said no one else has complained.) Hoping something changes soon. I'll remove this review if this is actually rectified and the disturbance stops! read more

I lived at the Ashborough for nearly 3 years at this point, and truly was happy with my experience. I am happy to report the staff has remained the same (that speaks VOLUMES for an apartment community!) and they all have been super helpful every time I needed something. The dedication and commitment the staff has to making sure all is done correctly is so appreciated. I've just moved out and miss it there already - it has so much to offer! The amenities and the apartment both look really nice. After the visit,the online application process was convenient and the office processed it very quick. When we first moved in, I loved the little space that we had! It was a perfect little starter apartment. Well the parking SUCKS! If you get off late in the afternoon, you will have no where to park and if you attempt to park in the resevered, they will ticket you which is ridiculous to me due to having no where else to park your car. The office workers & maintenance men are GREAATT!! They are sweet & if they ever have to come into your apartment, they are polite and always keeps a conversation going! The only real issue I had over there was the Roaches... At first, it was just a few roaches near the sliding door. After a year of being there, Pest control came out ONCE and barely even sprayed. It was ridiculous and a waste of time. They charge for "pest control" but you never seen them. They charge for trash valet but they hardly ever pick up on the correct trash days also if the wind blows your bag out the can, they will not pick it up, instead they take a picture of it and email it to you. Once my lease was up, i was so ready to get out of there! All in all, it was a good place to be my first apartment but I would not go back to living here. read more

Very nice-looking and relatively new complex with a pretty good mix of neighbors. Decent amenities - pool, nice outdoor hot tub, fitness center and laundry - but nothing really out of the ordinary. They do have a lot of little touches like berber carpet, crown molding, and fireplaces that make it a pretty comfortable place to live. The staff started out really nice and accommodating, but became very rude and abrasive as time went on. For the price, it's a decent complex, but there are better deals to be found. read more

I lived at Ashborough for almost 3 years and it was a great place. My apartment was awesome and quiet. I had huge rooms and windows that were accomodating to my big furniture. I didn't feel like I was in a "box" because I had nice touches like vaulted ceilings and a private garage. My neighbors were cool and I made some great friendships. The staff was nice and helpful and they would host events like drive by breakfast and even a sit down dinner for the holidays. The pool and 24/7 gym were nice perks. I left to buy a home, but really miss the convenience of how Ashborough was so close to everything! read more

Once you sign a lease, they will stop caring and try to get every penny they can out of you. Really sad how bad this place has gotten. Our apartment was filled with mold and they didn't even offer a reimbursement. I would look else where unless you have deep pockets and like being treated poorly. read more

Excellent touring and application experience. During my appointment, the leasing agent, Olivia, was great. She was helpful, accommodating, and personable, while remaining professional. Olivia definitely put me at ease, and made the touring and application processes a great experience. The property itself is in pristine condition, both inside the clubhouse and outside. I loved the amenities and overall feeling that I got from the property. There is a community garden, a nice walking trail, a car care center, and ample parking. While the rent is a bit on the expensive side, the attached garages, high-end interior features (ceiling fans in multiple rooms, 9 foot ceilings with crown moulding, upgraded fully laminate floors in some apartments, upgraded appliances), and property amenities are worth the higher price. read more

I lived at Ashborough for over 2 years and was glad to finally leave. The complex is conveniently located to shopping and the commute to NCSU was not bad either. The complex is surrounded by a lot of trees. In the office, Olivia was always very nice. (I have been told that she has since left Ashborough.) But once I signed my lease, the two managers never seemed to have time for us and the other salesman, Milton, always seemed put off that he had to help us with a problem. If you have any maintenance problems, the office staff will require you to go home, log into your account, and use their online maintenance reporting system (which sucks) in stead of writing it down and submitting it themselves, while you are right there in the office or even if you do not have internet service hooked up yet. Also, keep in mind that the office will accept packages, but will often not be able to find them (esp. if it is Milton looking for it). And remember they are closed on Sundays and open only during regular business hours. So if you work from 9am to 6pm M-F, you had not forget to get your packages on Saturday or it will be another week before you can get it. Maintenance was always polite and some what responsive to our requests for service. Their online system to report maintenance problems would 'go down', so they would say, as a reason why they did not know about a reported problem. The system also does not allow you to cancel or modify a maintenance request (because we would fix the problem ourselves or the problem got worse before someone would come to fix it). Sometimes our master bath toilet would not work and maintenance would take days to come fix it. The manager told us, 'as it is stated in your agreement', it is because 'maintenance has too many other things to do right away and we have another toilet to use'. (So because we were paying more money for a second bathroom, we can just use one.) Once, one of our smoke alarms started chirping because it had a 'low battery'. After THREE days after reporting it to maintenance, I ended up replacing the battery. Eventually, maintenance came in when we were not home and replaced my new battery with their new battery. Then days later, another smoke alarm started "chirping" due to a "low battery". This time I did NOT report this on their online maintenance system and just replaced the battery myself. (Why they don't replace all batteries in a unit at one time is beyond me.) It also appears as if the maintenance supervisor is hardly at the apartments, yet they are short handed all the time and he will deny a maintenance request without even speaking to the tenant. Very poor customer service at Ashborough Apartments. Parking is scarce around most of the buildings. And was always a struggle for me or my roommate to find parking when returning late at night. Management will tow you car if you park in a paid parking space. The trash compactor was always breaking down so we had to smell the trash build up in the heat of the day as it piled up around the dumpsters they would bring in. The dumpster walls were at least 7 feet tall, so my roommate could not lift or sling our kitchen trash bags up into the dumpsters. During the summers, occasionally, you could smell the garbage rotting while sitting at the pool. Also, in the summer, you could smell the dog poop in the trash cans and the dog poop from people who did not clean up after their dogs. It was not uncommon to see trash behind and in the woods around the buildings. I was told they have one maintenance man who's sole job is to maintain the grounds. When I left Ashborough, the "outdoor kitchen" that replaced the hot tub next to the pool remained unfinished for many months (it seems the work had stopped). They were re-roofing every building in the entire complex for the second time in 6 months. This made driving around and parking even more difficult as the roofers would leave their equipment and supplies in scarce parking places. Many people got flat tires and one person stepped on a roofing nail left behind. I tried walking the "trails" they have around the complex, but they have not been maintained and can be a little treacherous in places to walk. One final note, apparently management decided to save money on replacing carpeting and have started installing hard flooring in the upstairs apartments. We visited some friends to watch a movie, who are downstairs from one of the apartments with new hard flooring. The sounds of people walking, kids running, an upstairs phone ringing, microwave beeping and all sorts of noises were so bad we could not enjoy watching a movie with our friends. I was told that management is aware of the problem, but is continuing to install this hard flooring in all of the apartments. We are glad we moved out before this happened to us. I do not see how we could have lived with that much daily noise from above. Overall, We think Ashborough is poorly managed and we would not live there again. read more

We all just got a notice stating that if we don't park in a parking space, we will have our cars towed. Normally, that would not be a problem but there are 32 apartments in my building and 10 free parking spaces in front of my building. There is not enough room for parking. I went to the office to talk to them about what they are going to do about the problem, and she told me we can PAY for a parking space. NEGATIVE. Not on top of the already super high rent for these apartments. Then she said to park in front of another building. During the hours I come in from work, that is dangerous. She didn't say they would be working on parking spaces. She just smiled as if to say, "Oh well. Not my problem. I will not be renewing my lease. read more

I honestly was going to overlook this place based on their website (it really needs updating)! But I am SO HAPPY I did not. This place is great - they have upgraded everything that includes stainless steel appliances, new cabinets, new hardwood laminate flooring, etc. During the tour the leasing agent, Milton, was super nice and answered all my questions. He even allowed me to see my unit that is in current renovation. The Ashborough has garden plots so I can plant tomatoes! There is a pool and a dog park, gym, and walking trail. When I toured it was quiet and seems like a good neighborhood. I signed my lease that day - and trust me I looked at several other places - but for the price these apartments are a better deal.
